Seema Haider Sends Rakhis To PM Modi, Mohan Bhagwat, Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath Ahead Of Raksha Bandhan

Noida, August 22: Pakistani national Seema Haider on Tuesday said she has sent ‘rakhis’ to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and others ahead of Raksha Bandhan. Haider, who entered India illegally via Nepal earlier this year, said she has also sent rakhis to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Raksha Bandhan, falling on August 30, is a festival celebrated in India where sisters tie a decorative thread ‘rakhi’ around their brothers’ wrists as a symbol of their bond and protection.

Seema Haider sent rakhis in advance

“I have posted these (rakhis) in advance so that they reach well in time to my dear brothers, on whose shoulders lie this country’s responsibility. I am very happy. Jai Shri Ram. Jai Hind. Hindustan Zindabad,” Haider said in a purported video that surfaced on social media on Tuesday.

In another clip, the 30-year-old woman from Sindh province of Pakistan is purportedly seen along with her children packing rakhis, with the song “Bhaiya Mere Rakhi Ke Bandhan ko Nibhaana” playing in the background. Haider had illegally entered India through Nepal to live with her lover Sachin Meena who stays in Greater Noida. She had come along with her four children – all below the age of 7 years – in May and lived in Rabupura area in a rented accommodation secretly.

Haider and Meena, who claimed to have got in touch over online game PUBG in 2019-20, were arrested on July 4 this year, but a local court granted them bail on July 7.

Internal Rift May Cost Samajwadi Party Dear: Political Turmoil in Ward 211 Involving MLA Rais Shaikh

Published

on

Mumbai: The ongoing tension between Samajwadi Party (SP) Maharashtra president Abu Asim Azmi and the party’s own MLA Rais Shaikh has taken a serious turn and could prove politically costly for the party in Mumbai and Bhiwandi. What began as internal differences has now escalated into an open power struggle, just as the bugle for municipal corporation elections across Mumbai and Maharashtra has been sounded.

For the past several months, relations between Abu Asim Azmi and MLA Rais Shaikh have remained strained. Sources within the party claim that Azmi had decided to completely sideline Rais Shaikh and hand over key organisational responsibilities to Yusuf Abhrani, a former Congress leader who recently joined the Samajwadi Party. This move reportedly deepened the rift, with speculation rife that Rais Shaikh might even switch allegiance to Ajit Pawar’s camp or return to the Congress, as he felt marginalised within his own party.

The simmering internal conflict has now spilled into the open with the start of civic election preparations. Rais Shaikh had requested party leadership to allot municipal tickets to some of his close aides, but the Samajwadi Party leadership allegedly refused to give tickets to any of his supporters. Feeling politically cornered, Rais Shaikh responded by fielding several of his associates as independent candidates.

More significantly, Rais Shaikh is said to have played a key role in ensuring that his personal assistant, Waqar Khan, received a Congress ticket from Ward No. 211—a seat that was earlier considered a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party. With Congress now officially fielding Waqar Khan from this ward, SP risks losing a seat it was once confident of winning.

Political observers believe that ignoring Rais Shaikh could cost the Samajwadi Party heavily not only in Govandi but also in Bhiwandi, where multiple seats may be affected due to rebel candidates and divided votes. Meanwhile, Yusuf Abhrani—projected as Rais Shaikh’s replacement—has fielded his daughter-in-law against Geeta Gawli, daughter of Arun Gawli, a move that too appears to have weakened SP’s prospects in that constituency.

As factionalism deepens, the Samajwadi Party now faces the possibility of significant electoral losses in key urban pockets. Whether the leadership will attempt damage control or allow the rift to widen further remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: internal discord may prove more damaging than opposition attacks in the upcoming municipal elections.

The Samajwadi Party has released the first list of 21 candidates, in which Zeb-un-Nisa Malik has been appointed as the candidate from 213, along with Shahzad Abrahani from 212. There is a tug of war going on in the Samajwadi Party over ward number 211, so the party has not announced its candidate for this ward. SP leader Raees Sheikh has also introduced his brother Salim Sheikh as a candidate for this ward. The Samajwadi Party has not yet taken any decision regarding the ticket in this ward, while the candidature of Raees Sheikh’s brother is also being opposed. Local women have opened a front against Raees Sheikh and have also submitted a claim for the SP candidacy. In such a situation, who will be given a candidate from 211 in the Samajwadi Party is still pending. Samajwadi Party had announced to separate from Maha Vikas Aghadi and contest the elections alone, while Uddhav and Raj Thackeray have also reached an electoral understanding. Along with this, Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar’s NCP is also in talks regarding an electoral understanding.
