RBI Maintains Status Quo As Repo Rate Unchanged At 6.5%, Flags Inflation Concern
Mumbai: The monetary policy committee of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its October review meeting unanimously decided to keep the policy repo rate unchanged at 6.5 per cent, thus maintaining status quo for the fourth straight occasions.
While deliberating the policy statement Friday morning, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said the central bank is concerned and it has identified high inflation as a major risk to macro-economic stability and sustainable growth.
Das added the monetary policy committee is committed to align India’s headline inflation at 4 per cent level.
Also, the governor noted 5 out of the 6 MPC members are for remaining focused on “withdrawal of accommodation” in monetary policy stance so as to ensure the inflation progressively aligns with the target, while supporting growth.
The three-day bi-monthly monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting of the RBI began on Wednesday, with financial market participants closely monitoring the outcome and the policy stance of the central bank for fresh cues.
RBI typically conducts six bi-monthly meetings in a financial year, where it deliberates interest rates, money supply, inflation outlook, and various macroeconomic indicators.
RBI in its past three meetings – April, June, and August — held the repo rate unchanged at 6.5 per cent. The repo rate is the rate of interest at which RBI lends to other banks.
A relative decline in inflation, barring the latest spike, and its potential for further decline may have prompted the central bank to put the brake on the key interest rate. Inflation has been a concern for many countries, including advanced economies, but India has largely managed to steer its inflation trajectory quite well.
Barring the latest third straight pause, the RBI raised the repo rate by 250 basis points cumulatively to 6.5 per cent since May 2022 in the fight against inflation. Raising interest rates is a monetary policy instrument that typically helps suppress demand in the economy, thereby helping the inflation rate decline.
Headline inflation in India rose to 7.8 per cent in July due to a surge in prices of food items like wheat, rice and vegetables, including tomatoes, to later fall to 6.8 per cent in August. Inflation data for September is due in next few days

After Nashik, conspiracy to create Love jihad and corporate jihad in sexual harassment cases in Mumbai, accused arrested, police deny corporate jihad point

Mumbai: After Nashik TCS, now an attempt has been made to give a corporate and religious color to the sexual assault case in Mumbai. Here, the Agripara police station in Mumbai has claimed to have arrested a 25-year-old youth named Ashraf Siddiqui in the case of harassing a 19-year-old telemarketer. The police are now investigating this case, but the families of the victims are also trying to call it corporate jihad and love jihad, but the police have also denied it. A case has been registered against one Ashraf under sections BNS 75, 78(2) and 70 and IT Act 2000 in the Agripara police station for sending obscene messages to a female colleague working as a third-party telemarketer in a large corporate company.
According to the victim’s statement and the police, the accused not only sent her several messages for sexual intercourse but also sent obscene pictures using derogatory language about his female colleagues.
In her statement to the police, the victim said that when she told Ashraf that she was Hindu, he replied, “Nowadays, Hindu girls prefer Muslims.” After this, the victim’s family has filed a complaint against him. The police have started an investigation into the matter. At the same time, her relatives have demanded that this is a case of love jihad, so an SIT investigation should be conducted into it and at the same time, bulldozer action should be taken at the accused’s house.

Mumbai: Nasik TCS case targeting Nida Khan, police tarnishing its image: Social activist Niranjan Tiklay

Mumbai: Nashik TCS case has no connection with religious conversion. In this case, Nida Khan has been targeted even though she was not the HR head, yet she is being tried by the media. The Nashik case is not a case of inciting religious sentiments and religious hatred, love jihad or corporate jihad. It is only a case of sexual harassment, but Nida Khan has been targeted in it. This kind of serious allegation has been made by social worker Teesta Setalvad in a press conference organized by APCR here today at Marathi Patrikar Singh. She said that the media made the identity of a woman public and if the police had revealed this, then the news should have been broadcast regarding the police. An attempt should have been made to talk to the victim and the complainant. There are many such cases in which any accusation can be made against anyone, but in the Nashik case, an environment was created which is completely wrong. Nashik social worker Niranjan Takle said that the police have tried to set someone’s political agenda in this case, whereas the police should not do so because it tarnishes the image of the police. What happened in Badlapur? Akshay Shinde was encountered, after which the Badlapur agenda was run by putting up banners in accordance with it, after which the court declared it a murder. He said that in the same way, in the case of Somnath Suryavanshi, how much violence was inflicted on him, due to which he died in custody, the court has also ordered to register a case. Along with this, an agenda has been run in the Nashik case as well and under a specific agenda, Nida Khan, an employee of this company TCS, was targeted. Nida Khan is a minor employee but she was presented as the HR head. The media has conducted her trial. Valmik Karad did not reach the police until he surrendered. A case was registered against Ashok Kharat a year ago but he was arrested after Ajit Pawar’s death. The police is defaming itself to set someone’s political agenda. He further said that the way it is happening in the Nashik case, it is clear that the investigation done by the police is being made public through a media trial while there is no mention of conversion in it. In this press conference, the APCR has also presented a fact-finding report in the Nashik case. Dolphy D’Souza, Shakir Sheikh and others were present in this conference.
