Lalu Prasad, daughter Misa raided by CBI in ‘land for job’ scam
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday was conducting raids at 16 different locations in Bihar and Delhi linked to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad and his daughter, Misa Bharti, in connection with a land for job scam.
The scam involved taking land from unemployed youths on the pretext of providing them government jobs.
A CBI source said that a fresh case was recently lodged against Lalu and others for accepting bribes from unemployed youths and cheating them on the pretext of providing them jobs in the government sector.
“Yadav, when he was the Union minister, through his aide or directly told the innocent persons that he would help them get government jobs. And they took land from the job seekers. However, the jobs were not provided to all,” the source said.
When asked how many such land pieces were acquired by Lalu and others through this, the source said they were making a list.
The CBI officials are also recording the statements of those who are present at the locations.
This comes weeks after the RJD leader was granted bail in the Rs 950-crore fodder scam case. He has already been convicted in five cases of the fodder scam.

Mumbai: Ajit Pawar plane crash, Marine Drive police station refuses to register case against MLAs

Mumbai: Police has refused to register a case in the Ajit Pawar plane crash case. NCP leader MLA Rohit Pawar along with other MLAs had today gone to Marine Drive police station and demanded that a case be registered in the Ajit Pawar plane crash or conspiracy case. The process of recording his confession statement was also going on, but in the meantime, the DCP and Additional Police Commissioner refused to register a case and said that a case cannot be registered in this matter. Expressing his displeasure, Rohit Pawar said that the purpose of registering an FIR today is that the DGCA has issued a circular on the basis of which action has been taken regarding the VSR company, on this basis the VSR company is responsible for this plane crash, yet the police have refused to register a case. He said that any citizen can register a complaint at the police station, this act says, but contrary to this, the police have refused to register a case. He said that efforts are underway to save the VSR company. He said that the police register cases for other crimes including assault, but why is the police not registering a case on the incident that happened with a Maratha leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar? This is completely wrong. Our struggle will continue until justice is achieved. He said that tomorrow morning we will try to register a complaint at the Baramati police station. Rohit Pawar expressed his disappointment and said that if a Deputy Chief Minister does not get justice, then what will happen to the common man? Regarding the registration of a case in the case of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the ruling party BJP has also taken its stand that a case should not be registered in this matter, while it has also recommended a CBI inquiry into this matter, but despite this inquiry, we have the right to register an FIR, yet we are being deprived of it and have refused to take an FIR.

Maharashtra madrasas are a hotbed of terrorism, Nitesh Rane’s venom after a video of students being beaten up in madrasas went viral

Mumbai: Addressing journalists at Vidhan Bhavan after a video of children being beaten up in a madrasa in Maharashtra went viral, Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane has poured venom against madrasas, calling them a base for terrorism and demanding their closure and has said that instead of madrasas, Marathi and other language schools should be allowed. He said that what is the need for madrasas in a Hindu nation? Are we allowed to teach Bhagavad Gita in Muslim countries? He said that the way children have been beaten up in a madrasa is completely wrong. If this incident of beating had happened in my constituency, what would have happened to it? Then no one would dare to torture a child. Nitesh Rane said that the way only Urdu is taught in madrasas and only Quran and Sharia are taught, that is why the students of madrasas are ignorant of other languages. Nitesh Rane said that in the same way that the Chief Minister in Assam has imposed audit and other conditions on madrassas, in Maharashtra too, audit of all madrassas should be made mandatory and monitoring should be kept on them. This demand will be made to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis soon. This country is a Hindu Rashtra, the rights of Hindus will be discussed here. Commenting on Kerala Story 2, Nitesh Rane targeted Muslims and said that those who do love jihad will not like this film because it has exposed love jihad and presented the facts. He said that this film is based on how Hindu girls are oppressed after love jihad. If there is an objection to the film, then stop love jihad.

Four held for IDFC First Bank fraud; amount transferred to private firm

Chandigarh, Feb 25: Haryana Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau, Arshinder Singh Chawla, on Wednesday said four accused were arrested in the IDFC First Bank fraud case involving government departments as the money was transferred to the Swastik Desh project, a private firm owned by some of the accused.
They have been identified as Ribhav Rishi, Abhishek Singla, Abhay Kumar and Swati Singla.
“A letter was received on February 23 regarding embezzlement of Panchayat Department funds, and a case was registered following government orders,” he told the media in Panchkula, in Haryana.
He said the Special Investigating Team (SIT), headed by Ganga Ram Poonia, arrested the accused within 24 hours.
“IDFC Bank has returned the government funds, but the matter is being investigated,” Chawla said, adding Vibhav Rishi and Abhay had masterminded this entire case.
He said the money of the people of Haryana is safe.
“A sum of Rs 300 crore was invested in a private company and money also went to AU Small Finance.”
The money was sent to the Swastik Desh project, owned by Swati Singla, and her brother Abhishek Singla, and who have been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.
Regarding the involvement of senior government officials in the fraud, Chawla said, “It is not possible to comment at this early stage of the investigation.”
The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau found that several government departments are involved in this matter, including some accounts of the Chandigarh administration.
As per information, the main accused Ribhav Rishi, resident of Panchkula, had left his job in the bank six months ago, while Abhay Kumar had quit his job in August last year.
In a strong assertion of fiscal accountability and administrative transparency, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday informed the Assembly that the government has recovered the Rs 556 crore linked to the fraud case, including nearly Rs 22 crore in interest, within 24 hours.
Chief Minister Saini said the full amount pertaining to various government departments, boards and corporations has been credited back by IDFC First Bank into the respective departmental accounts.
He said the swift recovery was made possible through coordinated efforts between the Haryana government and senior bank officials.
Calling it a matter of public trust, Chief Minister Saini underscored that the funds represent the hard-earned money of 2.8 crore citizens of Haryana and would be utilised strictly for their welfare.
“Every single rupee belonging to the people will be safeguarded and spent only for their benefit,” he said.
The Chief Minister said a high-level committee, headed by the Finance Secretary, has been constituted to examine the matter in detail and fix accountability of the employees and officers concerned.
The committee will determine responsibility and recommend further action, if required.
Chief Minister Saini said the bank has indicated that the irregularities were primarily linked to its Chandigarh branch and involved alleged collusion at the middle and lower levels. He made it clear that no one involved in this case, whether a government official or a bank employee, will be spared.
