India condemns killing of civilians in Iraq’s Kurdistan region
India on Monday strongly condemned the recent killings in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, calling the incident a ‘clear violation of the country’s sovereignty’.
“India strongly condemns the recent killings in Zakho district of Dohuk Governatorate in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, which is a clear violation of the country’s sovereignty and a blatant disregard for international humanitarian law,” the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement.
India also expressed its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the brutal attack and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
“India also conveyed its stand and condolences in messages inscribed [on Monday] in condolence books opened by the government of Iraq in Baghdad and Embassy of Iraq in New Delhi,” the statement added.
A diplomatic dispute erupted between Iraq and Turkey after artillery shelling killed nine civilians and injuring 23 others at a park in Iraq’s Kurdistan region. Most of the deceased were Iraqi tourists, including children. Local authorities, however, blamed Turkish forces for the incident.
Zakho is a commercial centre and tourist hub in northern Kurdistan. Local officials said a Turkish artillery strike hit a crowded resort just outside the town on July 20.
The Kurdish and Yezidi regions of Iraq have been targeted in the past by airstrikes and artillery shelling by the Turkish military.
Turkey launched a new offensive in northern Iraq in April, targeting fighters from the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which Ankara has designated as a terrorist group.

Mumbai Crime: 24-Year-Old Man Stabbed To Death By Brother-In-Law While Trying To Settle Family Dispute In Vile Parle

Mumbai: A 24-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his brother-in-law following a domestic dispute in Vile Parle East late Sunday night. The case has been registered at the Airport Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
About The Incident
The deceased has been identified as Sagar Gupta (24), a resident of Shastri Nagar, Vile Parle East. According to the complaint lodged by his mother, Anita Manoj Gupta (42), a homemaker, the incident occurred on March 1 between 10 pm and 10:30 pm at the residence of her married daughter.
Police said Anita Gupta’s eldest daughter, Mamta (26), got married in 2021 to Akash Maurya who resides in the same locality.
In her complaint, Anita alleged that her son-in-law Akash is addicted to alcohol and frequently quarrelled with her daughter Mamta. Family members would often intervene to pacify the disputes.
On Sunday night, Sagar had gone to his sister Mamta’s house around 10 pm. Shortly thereafter, Akash returned home and questioned Mamta about dinner. When she informed him that no dinner had been prepared, he allegedly became enraged, started arguing with her, and physically assaulted her by pulling her hair.
Seeing this, Anita’s brother Sagar intervened to protect his sister. The argument escalated into a physical fight between the two men. Despite attempts by Mamta, Anita, and neighbours — including a local resident identified as Chetan Batle — to defuse the situation, the altercation intensified and spilled outside the house.
During the scuffle, Akash allegedly stabbed Sagar on the left side of his neck with a sharp weapon. Sagar began bleeding profusely and soon collapsed. Family members and local youths rushed him to V.N. Desai Hospital in Santacruz East, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case of murder and other related offences against Akash Maurya. He has been booked under Section 103(1) and other applicable provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

From Punjab To Mumbai: The Rise Of Lawrence Bishnoi’s Syndicate

Mumbai: The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has, in recent years, created a climate of fear by carrying out firings and violent crimes not only in India but also overseas. From Canada and Punjab to Mumbai, the gang’s operations have posed a serious challenge to law enforcement agencies.
According to investigators, Mumbai has become a major focus area for Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang as they attempt to expand their influence in the country’s financial capital. Actor Salman Khan and his close associates are believed to be among the gang’s primary targets. The gang is also linked to firing incidents outside actor Salman Khan’s residence and an alleged conspiracy to target him in Panvel.
The gang gained international attention following its alleged involvement in the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala and the recent killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique in Mumbai. Although gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and is currently lodged in Sabarmati Central Jail in Gujarat, his network continues to function through sleeper cells operating in multiple locations.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang originated from student political rivalries at Panjab University in Chandigarh between 2010 and 2012. During this period, Bishnoi was allegedly involved in criminal activities including assault, robbery, and attempt to murder. While in jail, he established connections with hardened criminals, which helped him build a strong network. After his release and graduation in 2013, the gang expanded its operations into more serious crimes, including murder, extortion, illegal liquor trade, and arms smuggling.
Over time, the syndicate developed links with arms dealers and expanded its presence across several states in North India. Today, the Bishnoi gang is considered a major transnational organized crime syndicate with over 800 members, operating primarily in India, Canada, and the United States. Despite being incarcerated, Bishnoi is believed to be controlling gang operations from prison with the help of his close associates.
The gang has established a strong presence in Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, and Maharashtra, and actively recruits local youth to strengthen its criminal network. Investigators have also identified a core group within the gang known as the “Brahmachari Brigade,” whose members reportedly follow strict personal discipline, including remaining unmarried and abstaining from alcohol. Within the gang, Lawrence Bishnoi is referred to by the codename “Guruji,” a title given by his brother Anmol Bishnoi. All major operations are allegedly carried out under his instructions.
