Diljit Dosanjh Mumbai Concert: Singer Asked NOT To Perform On Songs Promoting Alcohol, Drugs & Violence
Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is all set to perform in Mumbai on Thursday (December 19) as a part of his Dil-Luminati India Tour. However, ahead of his concert, he has received a notice from Maharashtra government which restricts him from performing on songs which promote drugs, violence and alcohol. Diljit has not reacted to the notice yet.
So far, Diljit has performed in Chandigarh, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Indore, and Jaipur. After Mumbai, he will perform in Guwahati.
According to a report, the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights issued a notice to Diljit and his management, instructing them to refrain from using children on stage during performances. Reportedly, they also mentioned in the notice that songs promoting alcohol, drugs, and violence should not be performed during his Mumbai concert.
The report further stated that the notice follows a complaint filed by Panditrao Dharenwar, who expressed concerns about the involvement of children in stage performances and the impact of certain lyrics in Diljit’s songs on young audiences.
A day earlier, the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) in Mumbai issued another notice to Diljit’s management, cautioning them against promoting substances like alcohol and gutka during his LIVE performances.
It may be mentioned that similar concerns were voiced by Chandigarh and Telangana governments earlier. However, during his Hyderabad concert, the singer changed the word ‘daaru’ to ‘coke’ and ‘theka’ to ‘hotel’ to bypass the restrictions.
Diljit has been constantly making headlines due to his controversial statements during his performances.
During his Chandigarh concert (December 14), the singer shocked fans by claiming that he will not be performing in India due to the poor infrastructure for LIVE shows and urged authorities to arrange better facilities. However, he later clarified that he never said he wouldn’t perform in India, explaining that his remarks were solely about issues with the venue in Chandigarh.

After the match, Aamir Khan shared some of his fondest memories of Wankhede Stadium in a video posted by BCCI. He expressed his deep admiration for the Indian team, saying:
“Whenever the Indian team is on the field, there’s a special feeling. If I had ever been a part of the team in any capacity, it would have been a huge honor and a matter of pride for me.”
Aamir recalled two of the most unforgettable matches he witnessed at Wankhede. The first was India’s 2011 World Cup final victory, saying, “That was a special day for all of us one that no one will ever forget.” His second memorable moment was Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell match.
“I was here when Sachin retired. He is my favorite player and a very special cricketer to me he always will be.”

‘Real Shame’: Indian Fans Upset As Grammys 2025 Exclude Tabla Maestro Zakir Hussain From ‘In Memoriam’ Section
Indian music lovers were left furious after tabla maestro and four-time Grammy winner Zakir Hussain was noticeably absent from the In Memoriam segment at the 67th Grammy Awards. The apparent oversight by the Recording Academy has sparked outrage on social media, with fans calling out the organisers for failing to honour the legendary musician.
Zakir Hussain passed away at the age of 73 in San Francisco in December 2024. He died due to complications arising out of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, the family had said in a statement.
The prestigious awards ceremony took place on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where the annual In Memoriam montage paid tribute to late industry icons. However, Hussain was not included in the segment.
It may be mentioned that the tabla maestro made history last year as the first Indian musician to win three Grammys in a single night.
Many social media users took to X (formerly known as Twitter), tagging the Recording Academy and expressing disappointment over the omission. A section of users also demanded an explanation for the snub.
“Shame not to see 4 time winner and multiple times nominee Zakir Hussain in the Grammy tribute to artists lost recently. Real shame,” an X user wrote.
“If it was missed then someone should lose their job. If not done with intent then iv just lost interest and respect for the Grammy’s !! Not that anyone cares what one fan feels,” wrote another user.
“I think it was an oversight. Because the list of people from the music industry we lost in 2024 mentions his name but the “In Memoriam” page doesn’t. Shame,” read another comment on X.
“How come no mention of Zakir Hussain in Grammy obituary #Grammys2025 he was a winner last year,” a user asked. Here’s how othet Indian fans reacted:
During the event, the Grammys honoured musicians such as Liam Payne, Kris Kristofferson, Cissy Houston, Tito Jackson, Joe Chambers, Jack Jones, Mary Martin, Marianne Faithfull, Seiji Ozawa, and Ella Jenkins.
Singer Chris Martin, who recently completed his India tour, performed the ‘In Memoriam tribute’ with guitarist Grace Bowers.
About Zakir Hussain
Zakir Hussain, who is regarded as the greatest tabla player of his generation, is survived by his wife, Antonia Minnecola and his daughters, Anisa Qureshi and Isabella Qureshi.
In his career spanning six decades, the musician worked with several renowned international and Indian artistes, but it was his 1973 musical project with English guitarist John McLaughlin, violinist L Shankar, and percussionist TH ‘Vikku’ Vinayakram that brought together Indian classical and elements of jazz in a fusion hitherto unknown.
Hussain has received four Grammy Awards in his career, including three at the 66th Grammy Awards in 2024.
The percussionist, one of India’s most celebrated classical musicians, received the Padma Shri in 1988, the Padma Bhushan in 2002, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2023.

Vicky Kaushal: Has always been a dream to star in a film with AR Rahman’s music
Mumbai, Feb 3: Actor Vicky Kaushal’s dream has come true to star in a film with Academy Award-winning legend A.R. Rahman’s music with the upcoming film “Chhaava”.
A.R. Rahman and singer Arijit Singh have come together for the song “Jaane Tu”, penned by Irshad Kamil. The track from Laxman Utekar’s historical action drama “Chhaava” encapsulates the undying, spiritual bond between Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Maharani Yesubai, portrayed by Vicky and Rashmika Mandanna.
Speaking about Jaane Tu, Vicky shared: “The song and the portrayal of characters go way beyond the conventional idea of love. It’s about an eternal connection, a bond that transcends time. I hope people experience the depth of this spiritual relationship.”
He added: “The coming together of three maestros — A.R. Rahman sir, Padma Shri laureate Arijit sir, and Irshad Kamil sir — is what makes this piece of music truly special. It has always been a dream to star in a film with Rahman sir’s music, so thank you to Dinesh Vijan sir for making it happen.
The Bollywood heartthrob went on to thank Laxman Utekar for bringing everyone together in the epic saga “Chhaava.”
Rashmika Mandanna echoed his sentiments and said that it is her first time having A.R. Rahman’s name in the same film.
“I am truly honoured. And, as Vicky mentioned, the relationship between Maharani Yesubai and Maharaj Sambhaji is not just a portrayal of love; it is a spiritual bond that goes beyond human understanding.”
“It was one of the main reasons why I wanted to be part of this film—because it represents something divine, something that connects us to a deeper realm,” she added.
“Chhaava” is based on the life of Maratha king Sambhaji. It is an adaptation of the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna.
