Unacceptable: BJP fumes at SP’s poster of Akhilesh ‘overlapping’ Babasaheb
New Delhi, April 30: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a fresh salvo at the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Wednesday, taking strong exception to the party’s portrayal of its supremo Akhilesh Yadav as ‘equivalent’ to Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution.
BJP called it a grave insult to Babasaheb and accused the SP of misusing his legacy for garnering support from the Dalit community.
The controversy erupted as a party poster surfaced this morning, showing SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Babasaheb ‘overlapping’ each other. Some reports said that the posters were also displayed at some places in Lucknow.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya shared the poster on his X handle and tore into the Akhilesh-led SP for distorting the face of Babasaheb and also accused it of offending the sentiments of the Dalit community.
“There can be no greater insult to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution and the symbol of the Dalit community, than to distort his face and impose Akhilesh Yadav’s face on it,” he wrote on X.
Further slamming the SP supremo, he said that Akhilesh Yadav can never equal Babasaheb’s greatness and his contribution to the deprived sections of society, ‘no matter how many times he takes birth’.
Malviya further said, “Samajwadi Party and Akhilesh first insulted the great warrior Rana Sanga and now Babasaheb. This cannot be accepted by the Hindu society at all.”
Earlier, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal also addressed a press conference and slammed the SP for the reprehensible poster, apparently belittling and trivialising the legacy of Babasaheb.
“A poster of the Samajwadi Party shows half the face of Babasaheb, and the remaining half is of Akhilesh Yadav. This is an insult to Babasaheb Ambedkar. They are trying to get the votes of Dalits by using such tactics.”
“Babasaheb was against Parivar vaad while Akhilesh is a product of a dynasty,” he added.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also denounced the act and called it a ‘reflection of the party’s corrupt mentality’.

BMC Conducts Anti-Encroachment Drive At Mumbai’s Iconic Mohammad Ali Road; Disrupts Traffic

Mumbai: A video has surfaced from Mohammad Ali Road showing the demolition of an allegedly illegal structure alongside one of Mumbai’s well-known localities, with civic authorities carrying out action as part of an anti-encroachment drive in the area.
According to a post shared by dahisarkar, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) undertook an anti-encroachment operation in the Mohammad Ali Road locality on Wednesday. Visuals circulating online show a JCB machine being used during the demolition process as civic teams carried out the action on the ground.
The post also mentions that a heavy police deployment was also seen in the area to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents during the drive. Traffic movement in parts of the locality was reportedly affected as authorities conducted the operation.
As per local administration sources, the action was undertaken to remove encroachments from public spaces and ensure smoother movement on roads for citizens. The drives are aimed at keeping roads clear and reducing inconvenience caused due to illegal structures or obstructions occupying public areas.
Mohammad Ali Road, one of Mumbai’s prominent and densely populated areas, often witnesses heavy vehicular movement and pedestrian traffic, making road accessibility and public space management a key civic concern.
The civic body has been carrying out anti-encroachment and clearance drives across multiple parts of Mumbai as part of efforts to improve public infrastructure access and maintain civic order. However, authorities have not yet issued any detailed official statement regarding the specific structure demolished during the latest operation near Mohammad Ali Road.
Tension gripped Bandra’s Garib Nagar area on the second day of the ongoing demolition drive after a mosque structure was razed during Western Railway’s anti-encroachment operation. Residents expressed strong outrage and emotional reactions during the demolition of the mosque structure. As the drive was underway in Garib Nagar, angry residents staged protests at the site.
Locals allegedly also threw water and buckets at Mumbai Police personnel during the agitation. Following the chaos, Mumbai Police resorted to a lathi charge to control the situation. Another visual showed the situation escalating as a major scuffle was seen between the police and locals. Visuals from the site also showed some women personnel dragging someone.
Furthermore, some anti-social elements tried to obstruct the work by throwing stones on the the demolition squad. Mumbai Police used appropriate force to disperse them off and FIRs are being lodged against the vandals.
The drive came after the Bombay HC, in its May 5 order, permitted WR to continue the demolition drive. However, it also said that the rights of slum dwellers who were found eligible in the 2021 surveys must be protected.

Mumbai: During Eid al-Adha, there was an unnecessary crackdown on animals in border areas. Abu Asim met with Speaker Rahul Narvekar, who issued necessary instructions.

Mumbai: Expressing concern over the increase in incidents of animal hoarding before Eid-ul-Azha, Maharashtra SP leader and MLA Abu Asim Azmi demanded strict action against miscreants harassing transporters and said that there has been an increase in incidents of animal hoarding and harassing transporters by stopping animal transporters at Mira Road and other borders before entering the border areas of Mumbai. Such actions are a conspiracy to spoil the communal atmosphere before Eid-ul-Azha, so it should be banned. Along with this, Abu Asim Azmi met Speaker Rahul Narvekar and submitted a memorandum on this issue and said that vehicles bringing sacrificial animals to Mumbai for Eid-ul-Azha are being stopped at several border areas including Mira Road. In many places, people are being harassed by anti-social elements or the police. Instead of imposing a fine on some vehicles for having incorrect documents, the entire vehicle including the animals is being seized. As a result, animals are being sent hungry and thirsty to the streets, police stations or cow shelters, which is completely wrong. Strict action is being taken on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. Rahul Narvekar spoke to the police administration on this matter, reviewed the situation and directed them to take appropriate action.
