The Congress has come out in strong defence of P. Chidambaram after
the CBI conducted searches at multiple premises belonging to him and his MP son Karti Chidambaram on Tuesday in connection with a fresh case of Chinese visa issued for illegal gratification.

Taking to Twitter, Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala said: “Mr. @PChidambaram_IN is a Nationalist & a Patriot, whose commitment to the country is unquestionable.”

He alleged that CBI is planting story to malign him. “To plant source based preposterous allegations against a former Home Minister & Finance Minister by CBI reflects the lowest ebb in political discourse.”

Reacting to the raids, Karti Chidambaram slammed the agency saying that he has lost count of the number of searches, adding “must be record”.

“I have lost count, how many times has it been? Must be a record.” he tweeted.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is conducting raids at nine locations belonging to Congress leader Karti Chidambaram and his father and former union minister P. Chidambaram in connection with a fresh case of Chinese visa issued for illegal gratification.

According to information, the federal probe agency is conducting raids at Odisha, Mumbai, Karnataka, Delhi and Chennai in a fresh case of Chinese visa issued for illegal gratification.

“The new case in which raids are being conducted is related to foreign remittance and companies, was registered a few days back. The dealing took place in 2010-2014. During this period funds were received and sent abroad by or at the instruction of Chidambaram,” said a source.

Mumbai: Mumbai Crime Branch sources have confirmed the arrest of Zeeshan Akhtar, the main accused and mastermind of the murder of senior NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, in Canada and preparations for his extradition have also been started. Zeeshan Akhtar is the accused of carrying out the murder conspiracy and was in contact with the shooters. In this case, Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a total of 26 accused and a charge sheet has been filed against them under MCOCA. Zeeshan Akhtar was in contact with Shubham Lonkar and he was also in contact with Anmol Bishnoi.

Zeeshan is also accused of helping the shooters. Zeeshan had earlier claimed to have taken refuge with gangster Shahzad Bhatti in Pakistan, but the investigating agency claims that he made this claim to mislead the Crime Branch and investigating agencies, while he went to Canada via Nepal on a fake passport and his arrest in the fake passport case will be made in Canada itself. Interpol had also issued a red corner notice for Zeeshan, along with this his search was also going on. Shubham Lonkar, a prime accused in this case, is still absconding. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for the murder of Baba Siddiqui and Anmol Bishnoi had planned it and Zeeshan was in contact with him.

Many of the 26 accused arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch in this case have made important revelations in this case, while after the arrest of Zeeshan, the Crime Branch has got a big success in this case and now further progress is certain in the Baba Siddiqui murder case. After the murder of Baba Siddiqui, it was sensationally revealed that Baba Siddiqui is a close and trusted friend of film actor Salman Khan, which is why he was on the target of Lawrence Bishnoi. Along with this, Baba Siddiqui’s son Zeeshan Siddiqui has received threats many times. Along with this, the police has also increased the security of Zeeshan Siddiqui. How long Zeeshan stayed in Nepal after the murder and with whom he was in contact are also important aspects of the investigation. The Crime Branch has started preparing documents for Zeeshan’s extradition and soon the Mumbai Crime Branch will bring Zeeshan to Mumbai.

Congress aborted 1995 nuclear test under US pressure, says Nishikant Dubey

Nishikant Dubey

New Delhi, June 11: BJP Member of Parliament Nishikant Dubey, citing declassified documents, has alleged that the Congress government, under pressure from the United States, aborted plans to conduct a nuclear test in 1995.

He claimed that fear of American backlash influenced the decision, despite initial readiness by then Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao.

“Go back and read the history of how Rahul Gandhi, whom I call ‘Rahul Baba,’ gets scared of America,” Dubey said in a post on X on Wednesday.

“In 1995, Prime Minister Narasimha Rao had decided to carry out a nuclear test, but confidential information was leaked — allegedly by a senior minister or government official — to the United States.”

Dubey further claimed that the leak prompted direct intervention from the US President, who reportedly contacted the Indian Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary via an urgent nighttime telegram requesting a meeting.

“Charge d’Affairs is instructed to arrange a meeting with PMO Principal Secretary Varma for Ambassador Wisner upon his return to New Delhi,” the classified document’s relevant portion shared by Dubey reads.

According to Dubey, this pressure led the Congress government to abandon the test out of apprehension.

“In contrast, when the BJP came to power under Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1998, we proceeded with the nuclear tests at Pokhran despite facing international sanctions and diplomatic pressure,” he said.

“Prime Minister Modi has shown similar resolve in recent years. Rahul Gandhi should study history and reflect,” Dubey added.

Earlier on Monday, Dubey called for an investigation into the alleged historical ties between the Nehru-Gandhi family and China. He based his demand on “revelation” from declassified documents related to the 1961 Belgrade Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

“Rahul Baba, do you know that at China’s behest, your family’s patriarch Nehru ji created the new gimmick of non-aligned countries? Look at the member countries of the first conference in Belgrade in 1961. After isolating India from both Russia and America, did any country come to India’s defence during or after the 1962 war with China?” Dubey had asked.

Srinagar, June 11: The Centre has sanctioned a Rs 4224.23 crore package for 316 road projects in Jammu and Kashmir under PMGSY-IV, which is the biggest ever package for the union territory so far since the national flagship rural road development programme was started.

Under the PMGSY-IV programme, a rural habitation as small as 250 human beings will get road connectivity through a total length of 1781.33 km.

The majority of 316 road projects under PMGSY-IV in J&K will benefit the Jammu division, as this division is still poorly connected as compared to the Kashmir division.

While expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said that the approved 1781 km road length will provide a major boost to rural road connectivity and usher in a new era of prosperity in the far-flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

The L-G said on X, “Grateful to PM Narendra Modi & Union Minister of Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan for sanctioning 316 road projects at an estimated cost of Rs 4224 cr under Batch-I of PMGSY-IV for providing connectivity to 390 number of eligible habitations. J&K is first among all States/UTs which got sanction under PMGSY-IV. It is also biggest ever package sanctioned for J&K under PMGSY. The approved 1781 Kms road length will provide major boost to rural road connectivity and usher in a new era of prosperity in far-flung areas.”

Under PMGSY-III, most of the projects sanctioned pertained to the upgradation of roads, while Rs 377.91 crore were sanctioned for 66 small and medium bridges, but in PMGSY-IV, there are no bridge projects, and the entire amount will have to be used for road length projects.

Under PMGSY-III, Rs 1952.42 crore were used for road connectivity, including upgradation of existing roads, while under PMGSY-IV, the amount sanctioned is for fresh road laying and not for upgradation of existing roads.

The J&K government will have to bear its share of Rs 422.43 crore, while the Union Rural Development Ministry will bear its share of Rs 3,801.80 crore out of the total Rs 4,224.23 crore sanctioned under PMGSY-IV for Jammu and Kashmir.
