Kangana Blasts Swamy Who Criticised Making Her Chief Guest At Ramleela Function: ‘..You Sound Like A Pervert, Women Are Not Just For S*x’

Published

Multiple National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut hit back at former Member of Parliament (MP) and BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, who questioned the actor’s presence at the Red Fort Ramlila event as chief guest this year. Subramanian Swamy made the comments while responding to a post on X (formerly Twitter) which showed Kangana Ranaut in a bikini from one of her films. Kangana questioned Swamy’s post where he had replied to a user who shared Kangana’s picture in a bikini. “Deep rooted sexism and dormant lust for female body” was making Swamy “sound like a pervert,” said Kangana in her reply.

The row started when Swamy took to X and questioned Kangana called as chief guest at the Ramleela event at the Lav Kush Ramleela. “According to SPG gossip she (Kangana) is a ‘frequent flyer’. Why should SPG gossip? Because of the organisation is overworked. Her being made chief guest in the Ramlila final day is the organisation’s conduct unbecoming of respect for Maryada Purushottam,” Swamy said in his tweet.

Kangana hit back at Swamy and in a long post, said that the BJP leader was “suggesting that I (Kangana) have nothing else to offer except for my flesh to get my way in politics.”

Questioning if Swamy would have said the same things for a male star or creative artist, Kangana said, “Had there been a young male mavrick instead of me who could possibly be a great future leader and deserving of guidance and mentorship would you still imply that he is probably selling his flesh to get his way in politics?”

Ranaut created history of sorts after she became the first woman to perform the Ravan Dahan at New Delhi’s famed Lav Kush Ramleela on the occasion of Dussehra on Tuesday (October 24). The event is held annually at the Red Fort and this was the first time that a woman set the effigy of Ravan- the demon king ablaze by shooting an arrow.

Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming projects

Meanwhile, on the work front, Kangana is gearing up for the release of her film, Tejas, for which she has stepped into the shoes of Air Force pilot Tejas Gill. The film will hit the big screens on October 26.

Kangana will also be seen in Emergency in which she is set to essay the role of former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. She is not just playing the leading role, but the film has also been directed by her. Emergency also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudry, Satish Kaushik, Milind Soman, and others. It is scheduled for a November 24, 2023 release.

Tere Ishk Mein Box Office Collection Day 1: Kriti Sanon’s Film Earns ₹16 Cr, Becomes 2025’s Second-Biggest Romantic Opener After Saiyaara

Published

on

Kriti Sanon and Dhanush’s starrer Tere Ishk Mein released in theatres on Friday, November 28, clashing with Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s Gustaakh Ishq. While audience reviews for Tere Ishk Mein were disappointing, with some calling it ‘more toxic than Delhi’s AQI,’ and others saying the second half ‘lost the plot’ and slamming it as ‘cringe and unconvincing,’ according to many on X, the box office numbers tell a different story.

The film opened to a massive Rs 16 crore on Day 1, marking the second-biggest opening for a romantic movie this year, after Ahaan Panday’s Saiyaara, which led with Rs 21.5 crore. On its release day, Tere Ishk Mein recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 25.77%. The Hindi (2D) occupancy across theatres stood at 15.29% for morning shows, 21.67% for afternoon shows, 24.55% for evening shows, and 41.56% for night shows.

While Tere Ishk Mein has also managed to outperform some major 2025 Bollywood releases, including Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 3 (Rs 12 crore) and Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 10.70 crore).

The film is out and out a Dhanush film. For all those who are yearning to see ‘Dhanush-isms,’ this film won’t disappoint. Ditto for Kriti Sanon, who, in an attempt to deliver a believable performance, also gets let down by the film’s narrative. There are many impossible things which have been shown in the film under the pretext of cinematic liberties. Veteran actor Prakash Raj is ‘just there’ in the film, without creating any ‘roaring’ impact.

As for the film’s direction, filmmaker Aanand L Rai who has always been considered as a ‘slice of life storyteller’ not just fails miserably, but also lands up testing the sensibilities and patience (in that order) of the audiences with this film

Tere Ishk Mein is a spiritual sequel to the 2013 hit Raanjhanaa starring Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush.

Clock starts to tick for actor Dileep as court verdict in actress abduction case slated for Dec 8

Published

on

Kochi, Nov 25: A Kerala court on Tuesday announced that it will pronounce its verdict on December 8 in the sensational 2017 actress abduction and assault case, in which popular Malayalam actor Dileep stands as the eighth accused, charged with criminal conspiracy.

The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court has directed all 10 accused to be present in the Court on December 8.

Dileep was arrested and spent several weeks in jail before getting bail in 2017.

The case stems from one of the most shocking incidents in Kerala’s recent history.

On February 17, 2017, a leading Malayalam actress was abducted and sexually assaulted inside a moving car while travelling from a film set in Thrissur to Kochi.

The prime accused, Sunil Kumar alias Pulsar Suni, was arrested soon after, along with his close associates, all alleged to be part of the assault plan.

After spending seven years in jail, Suni was recently granted bail by the Supreme Court.

Investigators state that Suni had been working on film shooting sets as a driver since 2010 and had known Dileep personally.

According to the police charge sheet, Dileep allegedly harboured deep personal resentment against the actress, accusing her of informing his former wife about his alleged relationship with another actor — a development that reportedly caused friction and led to marital upheaval.

The prosecution claims this strained personal equation led to a conspiracy, with Dileep purportedly seeking revenge by using Suni and his associates to intimidate and humiliate the actress.

Dileep, however, has consistently denied all allegations, claiming he has been framed.

The case, unprecedented for its combination of cinema and crime, has seen prolonged legal proceedings, high-stakes witness testimonies, multiple forensic examinations, allegations of evidence tampering, and intense media scrutiny over the years.

As the court moves toward the long-awaited verdict, the Malayalam film industry, legal observers, and the public are preparing for a judgment that could have far-reaching implications not just for the high-profile accused but for questions of justice, accountability, and the rights of survivors in India’s entertainment sector.
