India reports 2,202 Covid cases, 27 deaths While Mumbai reports 151 new cases

India on Monday logged 2,202 fresh Covid cases, a decline against the 2,487 infections reported the previous day, the Union Health Ministry said.
In the same period, there were 27 new fatalities which took the nationwide death toll to 5,24,241. In state of Maharashtra as well as the city registered a marginal rise in fresh cases of Covid-19 on Sunday. Maharashtra reported 255 new cases while Mumbai recorded 151 cases, up from Saturday’s tally of 248 and 131, respectively. Active cases in the state breached the 1,500-mark for the first time since March 19
The active caseload has also marginally declined to 17,317 cases, accounting for 0.04 per cent of the country’s total positive cases.
The recovery of 2,550 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,25,82,243. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.74 per cent.
While the daily positivity rate reported slight rise at 0.74 per cent, the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.59 per cent.
Also in the same period, a total of 2,97,242 tests were conducted across the country, increasing the overall to 84.41 crore.
As of Monday morning, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 191.37 crore, achieved via 2,39,49,544 sessions.
Over 3.17 crore adolescents have been administered with a first dose of Covid-19 jab since the beginning of vaccination drive for this age bracket.

Rail services affected due to heavy rains in Mumbai

Mumbai: Due to heavy rains in Mumbai city and suburbs, Powai lake has overflowed and the water level of many lakes has risen, but local train services have also been affected due to the rain. Trains on the Western Line of Central Railway are also running late by 15 to 20 minutes. The rain since last night has affected the normal urban system. Rain has been predicted in Mumbai for the next 24 hours.
According to the BMC, normal life is going on despite the rain. BEST buses faced traffic jams due to rain, while traffic system was also affected due to rain in suburban areas. Good rain has also been recorded in Kurla, Sakinaka, Andheri, Mumbai and Santacruz.

Mumbai ATM robbery gang busted, 4 arrested

Mumbai: Mumbai Police has busted an international gang that looted cash by opening the lock of Nehru Nagar Abu Dhabi Bank ATM with a fake key and claimed to have arrested four accused. On June 7 at 6:30 am, unknown thieves stole from the ATM. After that, the police registered a case and on the instructions of local DCP Sameer Sheikh, it was taken seriously and various teams were formed. Using CCTV cameras and modern technology, the police caught the accused. In this case, the police have arrested 29-year-old Jasvir Singh, 31-year-old Salakhvir Singh, 27-year-old Gurpreet Singh and 37-year-old Rachpal Singh of Punjab. The accused had committed the theft only for drugs. Therefore, Mumbai Police has busted the Udta Punjab gang that committed theft in Mumbai. Along with this, the police has also seized the Skoda car used in the theft from the possession of the accused. Further investigation of the case is going on.
