Drain cleaning work continues on a war scale in the western suburbs, Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Sharma visits
Mumbai: As part of the review of works before the monsoon, the work of desilting major and minor drains has been started in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Additional Municipal Commissioner (Western Suburbs) Dr. Vipin Sharma today (April 15, 2026) inspected the drain cleaning works in H East Division, H West Division, K North and K South Divisions.
Sharma personally visited major drains like Mogra Nallah, Vakola Nallah, Krishna Nagar Nallah, Andheri Bhuvari Marg, SNDT Nallah as well as Bazaar Nallah, Guruare Nallah, Apex Nallah in Bandra and reviewed the work of desilting the drains. He also gave necessary instructions. The floating garbage and waste in the drains should be removed immediately. The drain cleaning work should be ensured to be 100% completed by May 31, 2026 in any case. Sharma directed the municipal corporation officers to coordinate with the local public representatives and inform them about the cleaning of drains from time to time. Local Corporator and Market and Garden Committee Chairperson Hetal Gala, Corporator Chintamani Navati, Corporator Raja Rahbar Khan, Corporator Ritesh Roy, Corporator Rohini Kamble, Corporator Anjali Sawant, Assistant Commissioner Dinesh Pallavad, Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Patil, Assistant Commissioner Nitin Shukla, Assistant Commissioner Mridula Ande along with concerned officers were present.

Massive Fire Breaks Out At Mumbai’s Crawford Market Shop, No Injuries Reported

A fire erupted at a shop in Crawford Market area of Mumbai, prompting a swift response from the Mumbai Fire Brigade. Officials confirmed that no casualties have been reported so far. Cooling operations are currently underway to prevent the fire from reigniting.
The incident comes just a day after a similar fire was reported near DB Marg, opposite Reliance Mall in Mumbai Central. The Level I fire broke out late at night and was confined to shops and rooms within a chawl structure.
Multiple agencies, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, fire brigade, police, BEST staff, and ward officials, were deployed at the Mumbai Central site. The fire, suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, spread due to closely packed shops.
While no injuries were reported in either incident, officials confirmed significant damage to property. The affected building had a vacant residential section and was already in a fragile condition, raising concerns over safety in densely populated commercial zones.

Level-I Blaze Breaks Out In Shops In Mumbai Central; No Injuries Reported

Mumbai: A Level-I fire incident has been reported near D B Marg, Opp Reliance Mall, Mumbai Central on Sunday.
The fire was confined to various shops and rooms in a chawl with no injuries reported.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), Police, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) staff, and BMC’s Ward staff were mobilised to the scene.
Speaking on the incident, Congress MLA Amin Patel said the blaze is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
“A fire broke out around 10:30-10:45 pm. Initially, it seemed to be a small fire caused by an electrical short circuit. However, there are many small shops and people in the area. The residential portion upstairs was vacant, and the building was already in a somewhat dangerous condition. Significant damage has occurred, although fortunately, there have been no casualties,” he said, talking to media.
On the firefighting efforts, Patel added that the situation is largely under control, but operations are still ongoing.
“The fire brigade is working to extinguish the fire, which is now under control but may take another two hours to fully put out. Cooling operations will continue until tomorrow. Due to safety concerns, some sections on the left side of the building are dangerously unstable and will need to be demolished. MHADA will be called tomorrow morning to handle the demolition.

Ayan Shaikh sexual abuse case not love jihad, new conclusion in investigation, Ayan’s life in danger

An FIR has been registered against Ayan Sheikh alias Ayaz Sheikh for sexual harassment in the limits of the Toward Police Station in Mumbai. A new revelation has come out in the case of Ayan Sheikh that his friend Uzair Khan leaked his videos on his Instagram, after which there was a stir. The police have started an investigation in this case and have arrested 8 accused. Along with this, several important conclusions have been made in the investigation. Ayan Sheikh had contacted the victims through his Instagram account and after making friends, he would have affairs with these girls and then take them to a hotel and establish relations with them. Uzair had made the video viral on Instagram because he was also Ayan’s social media handle and there was a dispute between the two over money and he made the videos viral in anger. In this case, the police have arrested everyone from those who made the video to those who collaborated with him.
Three policemen suspended
One ASI Salim and two constables have been suspended in the Ayan Sheikh case. Ayan’s video with the policemen went viral and they were in contact with Ayan, so it was tarnishing the image of the police department, after which the policemen were suspended and an inquiry was initiated. Ayan Sheikh’s life is also in danger because the relatives and parents of the victims are angry and special care is also taken for her security during her appearance in court. The police said that in the investigation that has been started regarding Ayan Sheikh, so far this case is not of love jihad nor does Mata Tsoraya belong to any other religion, but after this, attempts to give it a religious color are intensified, along with this, bulldozer action was also taken in this case.
