Gen Rawat, wife, 11 others killed in chopper crash, says IAF
India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife, and 11 others were killed when their IAF Mi-17 helicopter crashed near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district on Wednesday, the IAF announced.
“With deep regret, it has now been ascertained that Gen Bipin Rawat, Mrs Madhulika Rawat and 11 other persons on board have died in the unfortunate accident,” the Indian Air Force said in a tweet.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in a series of tweets, said: “Deeply anguished by the sudden demise of Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 other Armed Forces personnel in an extremely unfortunate helicopter accident today in Tamil Nadu.
“His untimely death is an irreparable loss to our Armed Forces and the country”.
“General Rawat had served the country with exceptional courage and diligence. As the first Chief of Defence Staff he had prepared plans for jointness of our Armed Forces,” he said.
The CDS was going to the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, to give a lecture.
The chopper, with a total of 14 persons on board, took off from the Sulur air base near Coimbatore and was on its way to Coonoor. When the chopper was a few minutes away from landing, it, as per eyewitnesses, hit a tree, crashed, and caught fire, resulting in several casualties.

Cyber education will be provided in Mumbai schools, awareness is essential to curb cyber fraud: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai: To curb cyber crimes in Maharashtra, the state government has now decided to launch a cyber awareness campaign in schools and colleges. Along with this, cyber education will also be given to children from class 6. Cyber crimes cannot be solved by arresting the accused because if someone invests under the spell of greed, it affects his mind and he is mentally disturbed. This cannot be solved after arrest. Therefore, precautionary measures and awareness campaign have been started to curb cyber crimes. This awareness month has been started. Cyber crimes are a challenge for the government and steps are also necessary to combat it. This kind of claim was made by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during the cyber awareness campaign event here today. Devendra Fadnavis said that there has been a huge increase in cyber crimes in the state, along with this, many people are being cheated in the name of investment. In such a situation, people are being asked to stay home by threatening them with digital arrest. To curb all these cyber crimes, it is necessary to provide cyber education to school children and students. Special attention is also being paid to providing cyber lessons in the curriculum of sixth grade students in schools so that they are also aware of cyber crimes. State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the state government is definitely strong to combat cyber crimes, therefore the best cyber center has been established in the state. Along with this, cyber crimes are a big challenge, hence awareness in this matter is very important. Fadnavis was participating in a cyber awareness campaign event held at the DG office here. DGP Rashmi Shukla and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Devin Bharti worshipped weapons on Dussehra Vijayadashmi

Mumbai: On the occasion of Dussehra, weapons and ammunition were worshipped at Mumbai Police today by Mumbai Police Commissioner Devin Bharti. Devin Bharti was accompanied by Joint Police Commissioner (Administration) Jaikumar, Additional Commissioner Vanita Sahu, DCP (Zone LV) Ragasudha R, DCP (LA-Naigaon) Anand Bhute and other senior officers. Weapons and ammunition were also worshipped at various police stations in Mumbai on Dussehra. In Mumbai city, the police had made strict security arrangements in view of Dussehra, along with which the police had also made arrangements for the immersion of Durga Devi. The Mumbai Police Commissioner has shared the pictures of the weapons worship on his X account after the weapons worship. The weapons worship ceremony was held in Naigaon. After the puja pot, the puja process was completed by placing flowers on the hands.
