Mumbai: Airport Customs Seize Smuggled Gold & Electronic Items Worth ₹4 Crore
Mumbai: Mumbai Airport Customs in 14 cases during July 28 and August 07, have seized over 4.66 Kg Gold & Electronic goods valued at Rs 4 crore. The gold was found concealed in various forms like gold dust in wax, crude jewellery, gold bars in an ingenious way inside, between two layers of clothes, inside the speakers, in the body, and on the body of passengers.
According to the Customs, one Indian passenger, a resident of Surat, Gujarat who travelled by flight from Dubai to Mumbai was intercepted and four crude gold bracelets having net weight 974 grams was found concealed on the body of passenger, who was later arrested.
“Twelve Indians, travelling from Dubai (07), Abu Dhabi (02), Doha (01) and Sharjah (02) were intercepted and found carrying gold dust, gold jewellery and electronics items having total net weight of 3182 grams was found concealed between two layers of clothes, in baggage and in the body,” said a Customs official.
He added, “One foreign national, travelling from Kuala Lumpur was intercepted and found carrying a crude gold bracelet and a gold chain having total net weight 504 grams was found concealed on the body of passenger.”

Mumbai Crime: Session Court Denies Bail To 3 Accused In ₹63 Lakh Chawl Fraud Case

Mumbai: The sessions court on Monday rejected the anticipatory bail of a man, his wife and son, booked by the Andheri police station on the complaint of their landlord for allegedly misusing power of attorney, transferring three rooms to their names and cheating the landlord to the tune of `63.60 lakh.
As per the case registered by the 75-year-old landlord of Sitabai Hawaldar Chawl, he had inducted Devendra Singh as a tenant in 2016.
The landlord claimed that over a period of time, Singh gained his trust and induced him to execute a General Power of Attorney on March 28, 2024. The landlord alleged that Singh began to misuse the document, taking control of the chawl and collecting rents from other occupants.
The three claimed that the complainant was in a sound state of mind when he executed the General Power of Attorney. The court, however, said, “prima-facie there is no convincing document on record to show that the informant has inducted applicants as a tenant of room voluntarily with free will.”

Mumbai Crime: 41-Year-Old Drunk Driver Rams Car Into Traffic Constable In Andheri, Booked

Mumbai: The Andheri police have booked an individual for allegedly driving a car into a police personnel and damaging a breath analysis machine. The incident occurred in Andheri East on Sunday. After registering a case, the police issued a notice to the accused.
According to the police, on Sunday night, Sahar traffic police personnel were deployed at Satamwadi Junction on the Andheri–Ghatkopar Link Road in Andheri East. At around 1:15 am, a car approached the junction at high speed. Constable Pritam Omase, 37, attempted to stop the vehicle.
However, the driver slowed down briefly and then tried to flee. When the police attempted to intercept the car, the driver allegedly drove the vehicle into the constable, causing injury to his right leg. The breath analysing machine fell from the constable’s hand due to the impact and was damaged.
The police eventually managed to stop the vehicle. The driver identified himself as Virender Singh, 41, a resident of Sahar village, who works with a private company.
Police personnel detected the smell of alcohol while he was speaking. Subsequently, a breath analysis test was conducted, which revealed an alcohol level of 134.9 mg per 100 ml of blood.
The injured constable was taken to Cooper Hospital in Juhu for treatment.
The police registered a case on April 5 under Section 324(3) (mischief causing loss to government or local authority) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

‘He Kicked Her, Inquired About Her Name & Then Committed Obscene Act’: Navi Mumbai Police Arrest 35-Year-Old Man For Molesting Minor Girl In Rabale

Navi Mumbai: Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly molesting a minor girl in the Rabale area on Saturday morning.
The incident took place on 4 April 2026 at around 8:35 AM, when the complainant’s young daughter was walking along the road. According to the complaint, the accused approached the girl from behind, kicked her, inquired about her name, and then committed an obscene act.
Based on the girl’s complaint, Rabale Police Station registered a case (C.R. No. 293/2026) against the accused under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Senior Police Inspector Balkrishna Sawant supervised the investigation, with active involvement from PI (Administration) Bansode and PI (Crime) Sachin Gawali.
Crime Detection Officer API Dipak Kharat and his team immediately examined the crime scene and reviewed CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Using technical analysis and inputs from informants, officers successfully traced the suspect within hours.
The accused, identified as Vivek Gajanan Kadam, an office boy residing in Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai, was taken into custody. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the crime.
The operation was carried out by API Deepak Kharat along with police personnel Darshan Katke, Mayur Sonawane, Ganesh Veer, Dhanaji Bhangare, Yadavrao Ghule, and Manoj Dede.
Local residents have expressed concern over the safety of children in the area, especially during morning hours. Police have assured strict action against such offences and appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities immediately.
The accused has been remanded in police custody for further investigation and legal proceedings.
