Maharashtra to celebrate Savarkar’s birth anniversary as ‘Swatantryaveer Gaurav Day’

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday announced that the state will celebrate May 28 – the upcoming birth anniversary of the state’s Hindutva icon Vinayak D. Savarkar – as the ‘Swatantryaveer Gaurav Day,’ here.
Vinayak D. Savarkar, later revered as ‘Swatantryaveer Savarkar’ was born in Bhagur, Nashik, on May 28, 1883 and passed away on February 26, 1966 in Mumbai. Next month will mark his 140th birth anniversary.
Shinde said that to commemorate the momentous occasion, many events and activities shall be organised to highlight Savarkar’s huge contribution to India’s freedom movement, propagate his ideology, and focus on his campaigns for social reforms and abolition of untouchability, all over the state.
Proposing the ‘Swatantryaveer Guarav Day’, state Minister Uday Samant said that Savarkar played a major role in Maharashtra politics and tributes would be paid to his patriotism, courage and progressive thinking for the younger generations.
The Opposition Shiv Sena (UBT) has demanded that the ruling Shinde Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state should call upon the BJP at the Centre to confer the Bharat Ratna on Swatantryaveer Savarkar.
The Congress, including senior leaders like Rahul Gandhi, has adopted a critical stance vis-A-vis Swatantryaveer Savarkar role during the Independence struggle, while the Nationalist Congress Party has maintained a neutral position in view of the strong public sentiments.

Mahim Police Arrest 37-Year-Old Man For Sexually Abusing Two Minor Boys Under Pretext Of Video Games; Case Registered Under POCSO Act

Mumbai: The Mahim police have arrested a 37-year-old man on Thursday, for allegedly sexually abusing two minor boys, aged seven and eight, after luring them to his home under the pretext of letting them play video games.
The accused has been booked under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police are investigating if the accused has a history of similar offenses.
The incident came to light on Wednesday evening when one of the victims informed his mother about the ordeal. The mother promptly filed a complaint with the police, leading to the swift apprehension of the accused.
According to police, the accused reportedly offered the boys money before the alleged abuse. One of the victims was admitted to Bhabha Hospital for treatment after complaining of pain to his mother. Both children are friends.
The Mahim police have registered a case under Section 64(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 4, 6, 8, and 10 of the POCSO Act. While initial checks have not revealed any prior criminal history for the accused, police are investigating if he has a history of similar offenses.

Mumbai: Mumbai Maharashtra Samajwadi Party leader and MLA Abu Asim Azmi said that late BJP Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had supported the independence of Palestine and opposed the oppression and atrocities on it, but today the country is pro-Israel. He supported Iran on the situation of war between Israel and Iran and prayed for Iran and said that Allah should give it success in the field of working against oppression. This is what I pray for. Saluting the courage and support of Iranian religious leader and leader Ayatollah Khomeini, Abu Asim Azmi said that Iran stands against oppression, so we pray for it. Azmi said that just as Indian citizens have been brought to India from Iran, in the same way the Indian victims of war in Israel should also be brought back to their homeland. Azmi also welcomed the Karnataka government’s decision to give 15 per cent reservation to Muslims in housing societies and said that if 15 per cent reservation is given in housing societies, there is nothing wrong in it. Here everyone has the right and privilege of equal justice.

High Court order to pay ex-minister Dhananjay Munde

Mumbai: The High Court has given a big blow to former minister and NCP leader Dhananjay Munde. Munde has been ordered to pay alimony, food and maintenance to his wife. The Mumbai High Court has ordered Dhananjay Munde to pay 50 percent of the alimony within four weeks. While talking to journalists, Karuna Munde has made serious allegations against Munde. She said that Munde is good but his broker gang is misleading her. Karuna Munde has welcomed this decision.
The case of former minister Dhananjay Munde was going on in the Bandra Family Court. Karuna had asked for alimony from Munde. Alimony of Rs 2 lakh was demanded from Munde. While hearing this petition, the High Court has given a big blow to Munde. Bandra Court had ordered to pay alimony of Rs 1 lakh 25 thousand to Karuna Sharma several months ago. A total of Rs 43 lakh 75 thousand has been ordered to be paid for the period from August 2022 to June 2025 or 34 months and ordered to deposit Rs 21 lakh 87 thousand 500 i.e. 50% of the amount in Bandra Court within four weeks. Karuna Munde has also made serious allegations against Dhananjay Munde of harassing and threatening her and sending obscene videos on her mobile phone.
