Kunal Kemmu on ‘Abhay 3’: Working for OTT is creatively more satisfying
Kunal Kemmu, who is playing the title role in the web series ‘Abhay 3’, says as an actor he is getting more creative satisfaction now than ever thanks to the growth of OTT.
In the latest season of ‘Abhay 3’, the story takes different turns and twists with how the investigating officer is decoding the murder mystery done by a bunch of people who practice witchcraft.
Asked about his interpretation of supernatural power, Kunal told IANS: “As an audience, I enjoy watching horror and supernatural genre of films and show because it really gives me that thrill and edge of the seat experience. But at a personal level, I am not really interested in knowing the existence of dark power, something that we are exploring in the new season of the show.”
Considering the fact that Kunal has been living with the character of ‘Abhay’ for last three seasons and the world of the story deals with crime stories, the actor mentioned how those stories used to shock him.
He answered, “Initially the first two seasons were more shocking for me because some of them were based on the real account. Those were horrifying and shocking, to say the least. Yes, some of those criminals existed in real life and they were medically sick and needed help. There is a reason why they call psychopaths. When as an actor I am living a character like SP Abhay Pratap Singh, I tried to keep it between action and cut and not carry them home.”
“As an individual, I am completely opposite of who Abhay is, so I live him only on-screen. I worked and build the character only to live on-screen and not to carry any hangover of it in my real life,” he added.
Being an actor who has always appeared in experimental films be it – ‘Kalyug’, ‘Go Goa Gone’, ‘Traffic Signal’, ‘Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge’, and also in ‘Golmaal 3’, Kunal said how it is only now with OTT, he is getting the work that he always believed in.
“From the beginning of my career, I always believed in a certain kind of cinema and that was not a regular affair in mainstream Bollywood. So, all my passion-driven choices were limited. I do not complain because I understand that the commercial aspect in mainstream Bollywood was prioritised.
“But now that the section of audience, who had the appetite of watching offbeat stories, that they used to only get from the international show, is celebrating our ‘desi kahaani’ on OTT, actors like us are getting creative satisfaction with good content. I am happy with the work I am doing these days,” Kunal signed off.
Directed by Ken Ghosh, ‘Abhay 3’ also features Asha Negi, Vidya Malvade, Vijay Raaz – and is releasing on ZEE5 on April 8.

Yash Owns the Screen in Ramayana: A Superstar Who Continues to Evolve as an Actor

As Ramayana receives a positive response from audiences, one performance that stands out and leaves a lasting impression is Yash as Ravana. Bringing immense screen presence, intensity and depth to a character as multifaceted as Ravana, Yash proves yet again that he is not just a superstar who commands the screen but also a performer who continues to push his boundaries with every film.
From the moment he appears on screen, Yash commands attention. His portrayal of Ravana is a compelling blend of power, ambition, pride and complexity. There is a remarkable variation in his character, from moments of tapasya and restraint to the grandeur of a king who rules the three worlds. The ten-headed Ravana sequence further showcases the nuances of his portrayal, bringing out the many facets of the character and the magnitude of his personality. Yash brings a certain gravitas to the role, making Ravana larger than life while ensuring that there is depth to his portrayal. His expressions, body language and screen presence come together to create a character that stays with the audience long after the scene has ended.
The film’s most striking moments are elevated by Yash’s performance. The confrontation with Kuber, the battle against Indra and, most notably, the face-off with Jatayu stand out as some of the biggest highlights. The Jatayu versus Ravana sequence is particularly remarkable, with its scale, intensity and visual spectacle setting a new benchmark for Indian cinema.
What makes Yash’s performance even more significant is the journey he has undertaken as an actor. Yash has once again demonstrated that he is not limited to a particular image or character archetype. With Ravana, he ventures into a completely different space, showcasing his versatility and ability to inhabit complex characters. At a stage in his career where he could comfortably rely on formula-driven commercial entertainers, his decision to take on a character as challenging and multifaceted as Ravana speaks volumes about his ambition and conviction as an actor.
Beyond his performance, Yash’s contribution to Ramayana as a co-producer also deserves attention. Partnering with Namit Malhotra, he brings not just his star power but also a larger vision for Indian cinema. His involvement reflects a shared ambition to take Indian stories, rooted in our culture and mythology, to audiences across the globe. As an actor and producer, Yash has consistently displayed a keen understanding of scale, storytelling and the potential of Indian cinema to transcend boundaries.
His approach to cinema has always been about evolution. While his stardom and larger-than-life persona are undeniable, what truly sets him apart is his willingness to take risks, challenge himself and explore unfamiliar territory. With Ravana, he gets an opportunity to showcase a side of his craft that audiences have rarely seen before, and he makes the most of it.
Ramayana is yet another testament to Yash’s mettle as an actor and his vision as a filmmaker and producer. He continues to raise the bar for himself while contributing to the larger elevation of Indian cinema. In Ravana, audiences witness not just a superstar at the peak of his stardom, but an actor who is constantly evolving, experimenting and proving that his greatest strength lies in his ability to surprise. Yash doesn’t just enter a frame; he owns it.

Big B would fly to Switzerland just for two hours to watch Abhishek’s basketball matches, reveals Ranbir Kapoor

Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor recently shared a heartwarming anecdote about Amitabh Bachchan.
He highlighted how the megastar would make time for his son Abhishek Bachchan despite his busy work schedule.
Ranbir revealed that Amitabh would even fly to Switzerland, where Abhishek was studying, just to watch his school basketball matches for two hours before flying back to the studio to resume work.
The anecdote came up during Ranbir’s appearance on ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. Speaking about the bond between the father and son, Ranbir said Abhishek had often told him how his father would make sure to be present for all the important moments in his life.
Recalling what Abhishek had shared with him, Ranbir said, “Aur Abhishek mujhe hamesha kehta tha ki jab woh Switzerland mein padh raha tha aur aap itne busy the, aap itne kaam kar rahe the, par koi bhi agar ek important event ho uski life mein… ek basketball game ho, school ka basketball game ho, aap flight leke wahan pahunch jaate the, do ghanta basketball game dekhkar flight leke wahan wapas direct studio jaate the”
“Toh aapne bhi itni mehnat ki… aur ek zamana tha jahan pita aur bete ka rishta kuch alag tha, ek doori thi, you know aap itne busy the, shayad time nahi milta tha, lekin Abhishek hamesha kehta tha ki papa jitne bhi busy ho, woh hamesha time nikal ke jo bhi hamare zindagi ke mahatva moments the, important moments the, you were always there for that and I really, I congratulate you for that..”
(Abhishek always told me that when he was studying in Switzerland, despite how busy you were and how much work you had, you would make it a point to be present for every important event in his life. Whether it was a basketball game at school, you would take a flight there, watch the game for two hours, and then fly straight back to the studio)
(You made so much effort to be there for him. There was a time when the relationship between fathers and sons was quite different, with a certain distance between them. You were so busy that perhaps you didn’t always have the time. But Abhishek would always tell me that no matter how busy his father was, he would always make time for the important moments in their lives. You were always there for those moments, and I truly congratulate you for that)
Responding to Ranbir, Amitabh said that it was a father’s responsibility to encourage his children and be present for them whenever possible.
Amitabh said, “Yeh pita ke nate hamara kartavya banta hai ki jo santaan ho unko prerna di jaye aur kartavya karte rahe… agar unko achha lagne wala hai paanch minute ke liye bhi toh hum pahunch jayenge wahan aur agar pahunch sake toh avashya wahan thherenge… lekin ye baat jo aapne kahi thi na ki prem mein jo hai kartavya jo hai woh apne aap aa jata hai, hai ki nahi? … Toh jab prem hota hai toh kartavya bhi hota hai..”
(As a father, it is our responsibility to inspire our children and continue fulfilling our duties towards them. If something is going to make them happy, even for just five minutes, we will make the effort to be there. And if we can reach there, we will certainly stay for a while. But what you said earlier is so true: when there is love, a sense of duty comes naturally, doesn’t it? When there is love, there is also responsibility)
During the same conversation, Amitabh also spoke about how he has always tried to support Abhishek, especially when his films have not performed well. He said he has never criticised his son because he already faces enough criticism from people outside.
Sharing his thoughts, Amitabh said, “Alochana dekhiye karne ke liye bahut sare hazaron karodon log baithe hue hain, ji… agar ek aur ghar mein aa jayega alochak toh achha nahi lagta, ji… toh humne kabhi alochana nahi ki, humne bas kewal aashirwad diya ki koi baat nahi ye aaj film nahi chali hai, aage aur bhi filmein aayengi aur aur bhi kaam milega.”
(Look, there are thousands and crores of people out there to criticise him. It wouldn’t feel right if he had one more critic at home. So, we never criticised him. We simply offered our blessings and reassurance, telling him that it was okay if a film didn’t work today, as there would be more films and more opportunities in the future.)

Tiger Shroff firing case: MCOCA court sends gangster Anil Pandit’s sister-in-law to police custody till Nov 16

A special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court here on Tuesday sent Suneha Pandit, the 13th accused arrested in connection with the firing incident on Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, to police custody till November 16.
The Mumbai Crime Branch had arrested Suneha Pandit, the sister-in-law of gangster Anil Pandit, who had claimed responsibility for the October 18 firing case, from Haryana’s Karnal district.
She was produced before a special MCOCA court in Mumbai on Tuesday, where investigators sought her police custody for further questioning.
According to officials, Suneha Pandit is the wife of Abhishek, who allegedly operates a cryptocurrency account.
Funds have reportedly been received in this account from abroad, and investigators suspect that the money may be proceeds from extortion.
Abhishek Pandit is the brother of Anil Pandit and is accused of running two other groups along with his network and is said to handle payments for all operations.
The other accused persons in the firing case were assigned special codes through which Abhishek Pandit allegedly transferred money to them, police said.
The Mumbai Crime Branch had sought 15 days of police custody for Suneha Pandit.
However, her lawyer opposed the police custody request, arguing that the police have already obtained all the information they required.
The Mumbai Crime Branch also informed the court that the funds allegedly used in the Tiger Shroff firing case came from foreign sources.
In its order, the MCOCA court sent the accused woman to the custody of the Mumbai Crime Branch until November 16.
Last week, a special MCOCA court sent Amar, the 12th accused arrested from Haryana’s Sonipat, to police custody till November 6.
Prior to that, the MCOCA court had sent 11 other accused arrested in connection with the firing on Shroff’s car to police custody till November 6.
Amar was arrested from Rohna village in Sonipat.
According to officials, Amar is accused of having transferred money, allegedly used in the commission of the crime, online. The funds were reportedly used for various expenses, including the purchase of a motorcycle and booking hotel rooms linked to the case.
