K’taka horror: Son arrested for raping his mother

In a shocking incident, a case of son committing rape on his mother has been reported from Kedambadi village in Puttur taluk in Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka. The mother has been hospitalized and the son has been taken into custody, police said on Saturday.

According to police, after the sexual assault by the accused, the victim mother fell sick and was admitted to Puttur government hospital. The 58-year-old mother had lodged a complaint with the Puttur Rural police station about the rape.

The police have registered a case under IPC sections 362 (2) (n) and 506 against the accused. The police say that mother and the accused lived in the same house. The incident had taken place on January 12. The accused who went to sleep in his room, woke up at 3 a.m. and went to his mother’s room and committed the crime.

When the mother resisted and screamed, the accused gagged her mouth with a cloth. He had also threatened her that, if she informed anyone about the incident he would kill her. The accused sexually assaulted her again the next morning.

Presently, the mother is being treated as an inpatient at Puttur government hospital. The accused is married and his wife is staying in her parents’ house. The police are questioning the accused and further investigation is on.

Mumbai: Fugitive accused Arunachalam in New India Bank embezzlement case surrenders

Mumbai: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has arrested Arunachalam Nathan Muruthovar (age 62), a wanted accused in the New India Cooperative Bank (NICB) embezzlement case. Arunachalam, who was absconding for the last one month, surrendered at the Economic Offences Wing office in Mumbai this morning.

It is alleged that Arunachalam Muruthovar had received around Rs 30 crore from the misappropriated funds of NICB from the main accused Hitesh Mehta. The EOW had deployed several teams in various parts of India while Arunachalam was absconding.

After the surrender, Arunachalam Muruthovar was arrested and produced in the court. The court sent him to police custody till March 18 for further investigation.

Further investigation in the case is underway. So far 6 accused have been arrested. The EOW has also claimed progress in the investigation in this case.

The police have registered a case in this matter. Also, to worsen the situation, people of a particular community also raised slogans of Jai Shri Ram, Har Har Mahadev and violated the prohibitory orders, after which the police have registered a case.

School Van Driver Arrested For Raping 15-Year-Old Girl In Navi Mumbai

Thane: A school van driver has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Navi Mumbai, police said on Saturday.

Based on a complaint, the police on Thursday registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for the assault that occurred in Panvel on March 3, an official said.

About The Case

According to the police, the girl was on her way to college when the accused, who lived in her neighbourhood, lured her into his school van.

The official said the accused allegedly drove the girl to a secluded spot in Chinchwali Shivara, where he raped her.

He said the victim informed her parents about the assault on Thursday, following which the police nabbed the accused.

The man has been sent to police custody until March 18, the official added.
