In Tit-For-Tat, Govt Of India Issues Advisory For Indian Nationals & Students In Canada

New Delhi, September 20: A day after Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, speaking in the House of Commons, said that there was possibility of a link between the killing of Canadian citizen and Khalistan separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar and agents of India’s government and issued an advisory for its citizens living and travelling in India, New Delhi on Wednesday (September 20) in a tit-for-tat move issued an advisory for Indian Nationals and students in Canada.
“In view of growing anti-India activities and politically-condoned hate crimes and criminal violence in Canada, all Indian nationals there and those contemplating travel are urged to exercise utmost caution. Recently, threats have particularly targeted Indian diplomats and sections of the Indian community who oppose the anti-India agenda,” said the statement by MEA.
“Indian nationals are therefore advised to avoid travelling to regions and potential venues in Canada that have seen such incidents. Our High Commission/Consulates General will continue to be in contact with the Canadian authorities to ensure the safety and well being of the Indian community in Canada,” the statement further read.
“Given the deteriorating security environment in Canada, Indian students in particular are advised to exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant,” the statement further said.
On Tuesday, after Canada dismissed an Indian diplomat, India too reciprocated by expelling a Canadian diplomat after summoning the Canadian High Commissioner to the MEA.
