Kutch: The Bhuj Sessions Court has finally delivered its verdict in a 40-year-old case of police misconduct involving former Kutch Superintendent of Police (SP) Kuldeep Sharma. The case, which dates back to 1984, involved a complaint filed by late Congress leader Mandhara Abdullah Haji Ibrahim, also known as Ibhala Seth, alleging that Sharma had verbally abused, humiliated, and physically assaulted him in the police office.

After a lengthy legal battle spanning four decades, the court found Kuldeep Sharma and fellow officer Girish Vasavada guilty. Both were sentenced to three months of imprisonment and a fine. Meanwhile, two other co-accused officers, BN Chauhan and PSI Bishnoi, passed away during the prolonged legal proceedings. Another accused, Girish Vasavada, was declared innocent by the court.

In 1984, Congress leader Mandhara Abdullah Haji Ibrahim had visited the SP office in Kutch along with several prominent political leaders, including then MLA Kharashankar Joshi, Mandvi MLA Jaykumar Sanghvi, Gabhubha Jadeja, and Shankar Govindji Joshi. They were there to discuss a case registered in Naliya when a heated argument broke out.

It was alleged that then-SP Kuldeep Sharma insulted, abused, and later called his fellow officers to physically assault Ibhala Seth. As a result, he sustained injuries. The incident led to an immediate response from advocate MB Sardar, who was part of the delegation. He filed a complaint against Sharma and four other officers in the Chief Judicial Court of Bhuj.

The case dragged on for decades, with multiple delays and legal hurdles. Over the years, several legal representatives took over the case. In 2020, following the demise of complainant’s lawyer MB Sardar, advocate RS Gadhvi took over as the main counsel. He ensured that the case progressed towards its final hearing.

During the proceedings, the court considered multiple testimonies and evidence. Finally, on January 28, 2025, the final hearing was concluded, and the verdict was pronounced on February 10, 2025—a staggering 40 years after the initial complaint was filed.

Following the court’s ruling, Iqbal Mandhara, son of the late complainant, expressed his satisfaction with the verdict. Standing outside the Bhuj court premises, he celebrated by distributing sweets to supporters.

Speaking to the media, Iqbal Mandhara said, “Justice delayed is justice denied, but we are happy that, after 40 years, the truth has been acknowledged. My father fought for justice, and today, we finally see a verdict that holds those responsible accountable.”

Advocates representing Kuldeep Sharma and the other accused argued that the prosecution had failed to provide substantial evidence. However, the court ruled that public officials are not exempt from legal scrutiny and must be held accountable, regardless of their position.

New Delhi, Feb 10: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi strongly criticised the delay in Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s resignation, following a two-year-long period of violence and unrest in the state and taunted that eyes opened quickly and Biren Singh resigned only after political embarrassment.

She criticised the political motivation behind the resignation. Speaking to media Chaturvedi remarked, “The resignation came after a No Confidence Motion was to be raised in the Assembly. The CM knew that his own MLAs might support the motion, and he realised that he was losing political support. To avoid embarrassment, the resignation was forced.”

Chaturvedi added, “After that the eyes opened quickly, and it became clear through the ears.”

“Two years have passed, and Manipur has been waiting all this while for the Chief Minister to resign. Over the last two years, so many incidents have occurred. Two factions in Manipur have been divided, leading to violent clashes among the public, many lives lost, and women subjected to exploitation,” she added.

Chaturvedi pointed out the continued violence and division in the state that escalated over time.

“There was so much violence, so many lives lost, and women were subjected to exploitation for two years, but only after all this did the government act,” she said, expressing her frustration over the government’s delayed response.

Earlier on Sunday Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh submitted his resignation to Governor A.K. Bhalla.

The ethnic violence between Meitis and Kuki-Zos that broke out in May 2023 in the state had cast a cloud over his second term and on Sunday he submitted his resignation to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla a day before the crucial Assembly session.

A Raj Bhavan official said that the Governor accepted the resignation letter and requested Biren Singh to continue as the caretaker Chief Minister until alternative arrangements are made.

He was accompanied by BJP’s northeast in-charge Sambit Patra who came to Imphal from Delhi. In the national Capital, he held a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president, J.P. Nadda.

Regarding Congress and Aam Aadmi Party’s recent Delhi election results, she emphasised, “This fight is between AAP and BJP, with Congress in the middle. In the process, we’ve allowed others to benefit. While Congress may have gained some ground, ultimately, the BJP managed to win, and they did so with a focussed campaign.”

New Delhi, Feb 10: YouTuber-podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, has landed in controversy as well as legal trouble over his remarks on comedian Samay Raina’s show ‘India’s Got Latent’, sparking outrage and legal trouble.

Allahbadia, who has over 3 million followers on Instagram and boasts over one crore followers on YouTube, has hosted high-profile guests like actress Priyanka Chopra, singer Karan Aujla, and ISRO Chairman Dr S. Somanath, is now facing huge backlash for his comments made on Raina’s show.

The uproar has led to a legal complaint against both Allahbadia and Raina, along with the show’s organisers.

During a recent episode, which featured content creators Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija (known as The Rebel Kid), Allahbadia posed a highly controversial question to a contestant:

“Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”

This remark, along with the general tone of the show, has triggered outrage, resulting in a formal complaint filed with the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the National Commission for Women. The complainant has demanded strict action against all involved.

The complaint letter accuses Allahbadia, Raina, and others of using abusive language and making obscene comments about women on the show.

It states: “Complaint letter for registering an FIR against the serious crime of earning money under the guise of popularity through the online portal India’s Got Latent by Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva, and other co-accused, deliberately laughing and using obscene words regarding private parts of women, making obscene comments, and hurting their dignity.”

The complainant termed one of the incidents as “very sensitive” and accused the show’s organisers and judges of committing a “criminal act by deliberately broadcasting content that degrades women’s dignity with the aim of gaining popularity and earning money through YouTube.”

The letter further alleged that the show spreads “obscene thoughts in the minds of minors.”

The complaint calls for an immediate FIR against the show’s organisers and a crackdown on similar controversial content. Many social media users joined the outrage, demanding the cancellation of India’s Got Latent and a boycott of both Raina and Allahbadia.

Soon after the controversy erupted, hashtags like #RanveerAllahbadia, #SamayRaina, and #Boycott began trending on X.

Raina’s show is well-known among Gen-Z for its dark humour. However, lewd comments made by Allahbadia shocked both the audience and the other judges present.

One user recalled Allahbadia’s recent recognition by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the National Creators Award, writing: “Receiving an award from the Prime Minister, interviewing ministers… and now this?”

Another user slammed the show, stating: “This crap show should end. Sex jokes, vulgar language, racism, North-South hate — everything is being promoted under the guise of dark humour.”

A clip from the show was also shared widely, with a user writing: “Save future generations. Influencers like #SamayRaina & #RanveerAllahbadia are negatively impacting youth and distorting India’s cultural values. Let’s promote content that respects our heritage.”

Some users called on Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to take action against the show, while others expressed disappointment over Raina’s recent appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati alongside Tanmay Bhat, Bhuvan Bam, and Kamiya Jani. A user remarked: “Amitabh Bachchan should be ashamed of bringing such faces to KBC.”

This is not the first time India’s Got Latent has courted controversy. Just last week, a case was reportedly filed against a contestant from Arunachal Pradesh over remarks related to dog meat.
