Delhi Police, EC indulge in hooliganism against AAP, ignore BJP’s misconduct: Kejriwal
New Delhi, Feb 3: Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal sharply criticised the Delhi Police and the Election Commission on Tuesday for what he described as their biased and unprofessional behaviour in handling election-related issues claiming that they were indulging in “hooliganism” against the AAP and were covering the BJP’s misconduct.
Kejriwal’s remarks came after the Election Commission filed a police case against Delhi CM Atishi for alleging hooliganism against her party and workers.
Kejriwal took to the social media platform X, stating, “Election Commission filed a police case against Delhi CM after she complained about the open hooliganism. So now this is the official stand of Delhi Police and Election Commission — The ‘job’ of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission is to themselves indulge in hooliganism against the Aam Aadmi Party, provide protection to the hooliganism of the BJP, and distribute liquor, money, and goods. If anyone stops them from doing this ‘work,’ a case will be filed against them for obstructing the ‘work’ of the police and the Election Commission.”
The controversy began earlier when Delhi CM Atishi posted on social media about the Election Commission’s lack of action against BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri’s family members, who she said were openly violating the Model Code of Conduct.
“The Election Commission is also amazing! Ramesh Bidhuri ji’s family members are openly violating the Model Code of Conduct. No action is being taken against them. I filed a complaint and called the police and @ECISVEEP, and they filed a case against me! Rajiv Kumar ji: How much will you ruin the electoral process?” CM Atishi wrote in a post on X.
Her post followed an official update from the South East Delhi Police, which announced that the AAP’s candidate from Kalkaji (AC-51), along with a group of 50-70 people and 10 vehicles, was found at Fateh Singh Marg on February 4, 2025, at 12:30 AM, violating the Model Code of Conduct.
The police instructed the group to vacate the area, and a case was registered under Sections 223 BNS & 126 RP Act at the Govindpuri Police Station following a complaint by the Flying Squad Team (FST).
Kejriwal’s reaction adds to the ongoing tension surrounding the Delhi elections, which are on Wednesday. During this time, the AAP continues to accuse the Election Commission and Delhi Police of bias toward the BJP.

Delhi CM Atishi booked for violating MCC; her supporters for attacking police
New Delhi, Feb 4: The Delhi Police on Tuesday registered two cases – first against Chief Minister Atishi for violation of the Model Code of Conduct and another against her supporters for obstructing government work and attacking police.
CM Atishi’s convoy of 10 vehicles carrying her 50-60 supporters reached Fateh Singh Marg and when police asked her to return, citing MCC enforcement, she refused to comply.
A case was booked against CM Atishi on the complaint of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
After being booked, Atishi, the AAP candidate for the Kalkaji seat, slammed the Delhi Police and ECI for “acting in a partisan manner”.
In a post on social media platform X, she alleged that her opponent Ramesh Bidhuri’s family was openly violating the MCC but no action was taken against them.
Hitting out at Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, she said: “The Election Commission is also amazing! Ramesh Bidhuri ji’s family members are openly violating the Model Code of Conduct. No action is being taken against them.
“I filed a complaint and called the police and @ECISVEEP, and they filed a case against me! Rajiv Kumar ji: How much will you ruin the electoral process,” CM Atishi’s post read.
On the other hand, the BJP candidate for the Kalkaji seat, Ramesh Bidhuri’s nephew Manish Bidhuri has been booked under the Representation of People Act.
Campaigning for the Delhi Assembly polls ended on Monday, with 699 candidates vying for 70 constituencies.
The Delhi elections are being viewed as a referendum on the ruling AAP’s governance model in the national Capital for the last ten years.
They will also decide the BJP’s future in Delhi for the next five years and also if the Congress will be able to make a comeback in the national Capital.
The 70-member Delhi Assembly will go to polls on Wednesday and the results will be declared on February 8.

Rahul Gandhi’s rare praise for ‘Make In India’ project in LS, followed by jibe
New Delhi, Feb 3: Congress MP and the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi on Monday made a rare praise for the ‘Make In India’ program, even commending the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing in the ‘good idea’ but then went to disapprove it by calling it ‘damp squib’.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address, Gandhi said ‘Make in India’ was conceptually good but the PM failed to deliver the results despite making a good effort.
“Prime Minister proposed the Make In India program. I think it was a good idea, however the result is in front of you all, ” said the Congress MP.
He slammed the NDA government for allowing the manufacturing to decline from 15.3 per cent of the GDP in 2014 to 12.6 per cent, as of now.
“I am not blaming the Prime Minister, it would be wrong to say that he didn’t try. I could say that he tried but failed,” he added.
Talking about unemployment, Gandhi said that India, as a nation, has collectively failed to address joblessness.
“Both the UPA and the NDA have not been able to offer a solution to the youth over joblessness,” he said.
Earlier, he said the President’s address appeared to him to be a repeat of the previous and lacked new ideas and offered to present a blueprint of an address that an INDI bloc would present on coming to power.
Calling unemployment as a social problem and linking it to social unrest, Gandhi said the increasing number of people in jail, the rising amount of money being spent on police forces and internal security reflected the rising social tension in the country.
Addressing the policy makers, Gandhi said that the country needs to better organise its production.
“All governments since 1990 have done well in organising consumption or services but production or manufacturing has lagged,” he said.
Describing the coming era as a door to a revolutionary battle between electric motor and internal combustion motors, Gandhi said the four technologies driving the entire revolution are – electric motor, batteries, optics and artificial intelligence.
“AI on its own is nothing without data. And when we look at data today, it is very clear that the production data used to make mobile phones or cars is owned by China and the consumption data is owned by the US,” he said, asking India to introspect on what data is going to drive its AI revolution.
“The answer is nothing, India does not have any form of data,” he said, calling for educating children about the four revolutionary technologies and building a production network to get access to production data.
China has at least a 10-years lead on India over the use of these technologies and we need to start building capabilities in these areas, he said.
