Centre endorses Covid-19 vaccine after-effects, but rebuts RTI reply
The Centre on Tuesday re-affirmed the after-effects of different Covid-19 vaccines, but refuted a report based on RTI plea pertaining to the potential ramifications of these jabs as “ill-informed” and providing “erroneous” information.
The report, carried by IANS on Monday, referred to the RTI reply sent to Pune businessman Prafful Sarda from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO).
An official statement on Tuesday said: “As is the case with all other vaccines, those who get vaccinated with different Covid-19 vaccines may experience mild symptoms like injection site tenderness, pain, headache, fatigue, myalgia, malaise, pyrexia, chills, arthralgia etc. Rarely, few individuals may experience severe adverse events depending upon certain pre-disposing conditions.”
The Centre pointed out that as per the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s policy of proactive disclosure aligned with global scientific evidence in public domain, “ICMR provided responses to questions” related to advantages and disadvantages of Covid-19 vaccines.
It added that the ICMR response (to Sarda) simply provided links of reputed website of the Ministry, the World Health Organisation, the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), where detailed information on various Covid-19 vaccines is available.
Welcoming the government’s stance, Sarda said that he had sent the RTI query to the Union Health Ministry, which, in turn, passed it to various departments like ICMR-CDSCO, etc for their responses.
“To my queries on the after-effects of all these jabs, the concerned PIOs – ICMR’S PIO Dr. Leyanna Susan George and CDSCO’s PIO Sushanta Sarkar – have officially provided the information of all these vaccines comprising their FAQs,” he pointed out.
Sarda said that the government has also not denied the after-effects of all the Indian vaccines, as mentioned very clearly through the FAQs it provided, which is “laudable and in public interest”.
The government added that global research studies show that Covid-19 vaccines helped reduce severity of disease by preventing hospitalisation and deaths due to the disease, “and benefits of the vaccines overwhelmingly outweigh any adverse effects”.
Plus, India’s National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) has periodically reviewed the benefits and side-effects of Covid-19 vaccines used in India and has endorsed the above findings.
The IANS report on the vaccines’ side-effects published on Monday, struck a chord among all people who have been jabbed and evoked massive responses from different quarters, including on social media.

Mumbai: Nasik TCS case targeting Nida Khan, police tarnishing its image: Social activist Niranjan Tiklay

Mumbai: Nashik TCS case has no connection with religious conversion. In this case, Nida Khan has been targeted even though she was not the HR head, yet she is being tried by the media. The Nashik case is not a case of inciting religious sentiments and religious hatred, love jihad or corporate jihad. It is only a case of sexual harassment, but Nida Khan has been targeted in it. This kind of serious allegation has been made by social worker Teesta Setalvad in a press conference organized by APCR here today at Marathi Patrikar Singh. She said that the media made the identity of a woman public and if the police had revealed this, then the news should have been broadcast regarding the police. An attempt should have been made to talk to the victim and the complainant. There are many such cases in which any accusation can be made against anyone, but in the Nashik case, an environment was created which is completely wrong. Nashik social worker Niranjan Takle said that the police have tried to set someone’s political agenda in this case, whereas the police should not do so because it tarnishes the image of the police. What happened in Badlapur? Akshay Shinde was encountered, after which the Badlapur agenda was run by putting up banners in accordance with it, after which the court declared it a murder. He said that in the same way, in the case of Somnath Suryavanshi, how much violence was inflicted on him, due to which he died in custody, the court has also ordered to register a case. Along with this, an agenda has been run in the Nashik case as well and under a specific agenda, Nida Khan, an employee of this company TCS, was targeted. Nida Khan is a minor employee but she was presented as the HR head. The media has conducted her trial. Valmik Karad did not reach the police until he surrendered. A case was registered against Ashok Kharat a year ago but he was arrested after Ajit Pawar’s death. The police is defaming itself to set someone’s political agenda. He further said that the way it is happening in the Nashik case, it is clear that the investigation done by the police is being made public through a media trial while there is no mention of conversion in it. In this press conference, the APCR has also presented a fact-finding report in the Nashik case. Dolphy D’Souza, Shakir Sheikh and others were present in this conference.

The promise of the people of Bhiwandi has been fulfilled… The state government has approved the revised plan of Metro Route 5, comments MLA Raees Sheikh

Mumbai: The revised plan of Mumbai Metro Route 5 has received the final approval of the state government. We have continuously taken forward the Thane-Bhiwandi Kalyan Metro project. We raised our voice in the legislature and finally the path for this Rs 18,130 crore mega project has been paved. Samajwadi Party MLA from Bhiwandi East Raees Sheikh said that our struggle for the development of Bhiwandi and the convenience of passengers has paid off. Giving information in this regard, MLA Raees Sheikh said that Bhiwandi is a logistics hub, but Bhiwandi, which is the Manchester of the state, is not on the railway line. There is a lot of pressure on the roads here and the condition of the roads is poor. It is the fastest growing city in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority area. Considering the current traffic situation in Bhiwandi city and the delay in the construction of the metro line by demolishing the existing flyover, we had been continuously demanding improvement in this project. Finally, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took notice of it and the Urban Development Department on Wednesday approved the revised project plan of Mumbai Metro Line 5 (Phase 1, Phase 2 and Extension Phase 3) at a cost of Rs 18,130 crore, which is 34 km long and has 19 stations. The project, which has been stalled for the last five years, will now be completed at a fast pace. The development of Bhiwandi will now accelerate. MLA Raees Sheikh expressed satisfaction and said that our continuous follow-up with the legislature and the government has been successful.
