Adjustment politics charge: K’taka CM says ‘never spoke to BJP leaders’

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said that he has not spoken to the opposition leaders referring to the ‘adjustment politics’ charge made against him by the BJP.
Talking to reporters in Bengaluru about the charges made by Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha that adjustment politics is practiced in the state by CM Siddaramaiah and top BJP leaders, Siddaramaiah said that, “Pratap Simha has no political maturity.”
“Pratap Simha talks according to his whims and fancies. He claims that he had built Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway. Is he MP for the expressway? I have never spoken to the opposition leaders in my political career. I never visit their homes when they are in power. But, when we face each other, I speak to them for courtesy,” Siddaramaiah stated. But, I never speak anything related to politics, he added.
Siddaramaiah demanded that Pratap Simha should say who is pursuing adjustment politics. He should know who is into it. If he wants, let him submit a complaint to the Governor. “Conducting inquiry is left to our discretion. We know the appropriate time to conduct probe and also know to which agency the investigation should be handed over to,” he stated.
Talking about Karnataka Congress in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala attending the meeting of BBMP officers, Siddaramaiah said, it was not the official meeting. The meeting was called regarding Bengaluru city and he mentioned about civic polls as a passing remark.
The debate on adjustment politics between the Congress government and top leaders of BJP cropped up again in Karnataka with Mysuru-Kodagu BJP MP Pratap Simha directly stating that senior leaders of his party have joined hands with the ruling Congress government. With the development, the internal strife within BJP has worsened.
Pratap Simha had stated that Siddaramaiah, prominent leaders of BJP do not speak against you. Many of them might have colluded with your government. But, BJP workers won’t compromise with you and they will never do it. In elections, the leaders of BJP might have been defeated, but party workers are not.
He further questioned that why did the Congress leaders not lodge complaints against the BJP government regarding the 40 per cent commission scam? The Congress leaders created hue and cry on the letter of Kempanna (President of Contractorsa Association in Karnataka who wrote a letter on commission scam to PM Modi).
When Basavaraja Bommai was the CM there were statements on probing de-notification and redo charges, Kempanna report against then opposition leader Siddaramaiah was also discussed. But, our BJP leaders were just issuing statements and did not do anything concrete in this regard, Pratap Simha had stated.
Even Siddaramaiah often spoke about Bitcoin scam, PSI scam against BJP. But, now he has gone completely silent over them. If there is no adjustment with BJP leaders, these allegations must be probed. It is like one criticizing the other at each other’s convenience. Is your agreement mutual back scratching?, Pratap Simha questioned.
National General Secretary C. T. Ravi who faced defeat against his right-hand man H.D. Thammaiah, pitted against him as Congress candidate in Chikkamagalur constituency had earlier stated that there is adjustment politics within BJP and the party was defeated for the same reason in the state during the assembly polls.

Thane: Fireman Electrocuted To Death, Colleague Severely Injured During Rescue Of Trapped Pigeon On Diva-Sheel Road

Thane: A tragic incident took place in Thane on Sunday evening when a 28-year-old firefighter lost his life and another sustained serious burn injuries while attempting to rescue a pigeon trapped inside an electric box on Diva-Sheel Road.
The deceased has been identified as fireman Utsab Patil (28), while his colleague Azad Patil (29) suffered severe injuries and is currently under treatment at a local civic hospital. The incident occurred around 5 pm and was reported by the disaster management cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).
According to civic officials, the operation was launched after residents reported a pigeon trapped in a high-tension overhead cable box. The bird was stuck at a dangerous position and officials feared that leaving it there could not only lead to its death but also potentially trigger a short circuit or transformer-like blast due to the live electrical connection.
During the rescue, one of the firefighters accidentally came in contact with a high-voltage live wire. The current caused a sudden fire, electrocuting Utsab on the spot and severely burning Azad, who was assisting him. Fellow firefighters quickly pulled them away from the danger zone and rushed them to a nearby civic hospital. Doctors declared Utsab dead on arrival, while Azad remains in critical condition with burn injuries to his hands and chest.
A spokesperson from the TMC described the incident as deeply unfortunate. “ The pigeon got entangled in an overhead cable wire. Unfortunately, one fireman lost his life during the rescue operation and another is battling severe injuries,” the official said.
Authorities have launched an internal inquiry to determine whether the standard safety protocols and protective gear were adequately used during the operation. The Thane Municipal Corporation is expected to release a detailed report after the inquiry.

The Mira-Bhayanda Vasai Virar Police has issued an official notification regarding the ban of heavy and oversized vehicles on the Gaymukh Ghat section of the Ghodbunder Road till October 14 due to the repair works. The stretch between the Ghodbunder–Gaymukh Ghat section has been affected by deep potholes and also has major traffic concerns. The chronic traffic issues have long plagued daily commuters travelling between Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai, Virar, and Thane.
Coming back to the official notification, alternative routes (Diversion Routes) have been planned to ensure smooth traffic flow. Notably, the notification also clarified that the light vehicles and vehicles providing essential services are permitted to travel on the route.
For vehicles coming from Palghar–Virar side: Shirsat Phata → Parol → Akololi (Ganeshpuri) → travel via Ambadi.

Mumbai Police File FIR Against Agent Who Issued Fraudulent Dubai Job Offer To Retired Navy Chief Petty Officer Rakesh Kumar Yadav

Mumbai: The Sahar police have registered an FIR against manpower agent Vinayak Koli for allegedly providing a fake appointment letter to a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer, Rakesh Kumar Yadav, 56, in an attempt to send him to Dubai.
Yadav, who retired in 2008 and previously worked as a seaman, had connected with Koli in 2021 while they were both working for the same company in Nigeria. In August 2025, while seeking a new job, Yadav responded to a WhatsApp job advertisement for an Electro Technical Officer. He discovered one of the contact numbers belonged to Koli, who then assured Yadav of an overseas position with Prayati Shipping Company.
Koli collected Yadav’s documents and, on October 9, provided him with an offer letter, an invitation, and a flight ticket from Mumbai to Dubai for the following day. However, on October 10, when Yadav presented the documents at Mumbai International Airport, immigration officers grew suspicious. An inquiry confirmed the offer letter was fraudulent.
