India hit 8 military bases in Pakistan, including Sialkot station: Centre

New Delhi, May 10: India responded strongly to Pakistan’s repeated drone and missile attacks and hit at least eight military targets inside Pakistan on Friday night with precision, thereby causing significant damage, the Centre told the Media, as part of a special briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Six Pakistani military bases were targeted with precision while one radar site and one aviation base was targeted in Indian strikes, informed the special team led by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, flanked by two women officers Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh.

“Pakistan military bases at Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur and Chunian were targeted through air launch, precision ammunition and fighter jets. A radar site in Pasrur and an aviation base in Sialkot were also targeted with precision ammunition. During these actions, India ensured minimum collateral damage and losses,” Wing Commander Vyomika Singh told the Media.

She said that Indian armed forces resorted to retaliatory action and targeted technical installations, command and control centres, radar sites and arms store inside Pakistan after it deliberately targeted air bases last night.

“Pakistan attacked Indian bases in Udhampur, Pathankot and Bathinda among other stations last night,” the team admitted but dismissed reports that there were severe damages.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh also displayed the time-stamp images of the military facilities to negate Pakistan’s false claims of having targeted these IAF bases.

The special team, helmed by the Foreign Secretary also spotlighted how Pakistan, a safe haven for terrorists was brazenly trying to escalate the situation. They said that they have ample information of Pakistan moving its troops to border areas.

“The Pakistani military has been observed as moving their troops into forward areas, indicating offensive intent to further escalate the situation. Indian armed forces remain in a high state of operational readiness. All hostile actions have been effectively countered and responded to appropriately,” the Wing Commander said.

Proponents of ‘jungle raj’ received 65-volt shock after first phase of polling in Bihar: PM Modi

Published

on

Patna, Nov 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the RJD and Congress, saying the bumper voting in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly polls had delivered a 65-volt shock to them.

Addressing a rally in Sitamarhi, the Prime Minister said there was widespread discussion that Bihar’s youth and women had voted decisively for development and for the NDA.

“In the first phase of polling, the proponents of jungle raj have received a 65-volt shock. The youth of Bihar have chosen development; they have chosen the NDA. The sisters and daughters of Bihar have also ensured a record victory for the NDA,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi alleged that RJD’s campaign messages revealed their mindset.

“Just listen to the songs and slogans of these proponents of jungle raj. On RJD platforms, innocent children are being made to say that they want to become gangsters. Should a child from Bihar become a gangster or a doctor?” PM Modi asked.

He said the NDA was offering books, computers, sports equipment and opportunities in education and start-ups — not guns.

“Jungle raj means guns, cruelty, bitterness, bad manners and corruption,” PM Modi said, adding that leaders such as Karpoori Thakur and Bhola Paswan Shastri had envisioned social justice and development, but that era was derailed during the RJD’s tenure.

“On the one hand, the NDA government is developing our pilgrimage sites. On the other hand, people from the Congress and the RJD are insulting our faith. You must have heard what the Congress leader said about Chhathi Maiya.

“Chhath Mahaparv is a glorious festival representing the devotion and penance of the mothers and sisters of Bihar. And the Congress leader says that this Chhath Mahaparv is just drama, a farce. This is an insult to our mothers and sisters, to Chhath Maiya, to our traditions, heritage, and culture.

“Those who commit such insults must be punished. The best way to punish these people is through your vote. Cast the vote in favour of the NDA candidates and defeat them,” PM Modi said.

He accused the RJD-Congress combine of destroying the industrial ecosystem.

“They don’t even know the ABC of industries. Not a single big factory was set up in 15 years. Even sugar mills in the Mithilaanchal region shut down. No major hospital or medical college came up,” he said.

PM Modi said the NDA era had reversed that trend — claiming better roads, improved rail and air connectivity, new power projects and revived manufacturing.

He cited the reopening of the Riga sugar mill and said more such industries would come up with greater strength in the coming years.

He said the Centre was promoting ethanol production to support sugarcane farmers.

“Keeping in mind the interests of sugarcane farmers, our government is also promoting the production of ethanol from sugarcane. The BJP and NDA deliver on what they promise. And Modi’s guarantee means a guarantee that the promise will be fulfilled. As soon as the NDA government is formed again in Bihar, we will further strengthen this pace of development,” he said.

PM Modi linked development with heritage, invoking Sita and Ayodhya.

“Today, I have come to this sacred land of Mother Sita seeking your blessings. Only with the blessings of Mother Sita will Bihar become a developed state. This election will decide what the future of the children of Bihar will be,” he said.

He said he had prayed on this soil and referred to the Supreme Court judgment on Ayodhya.

“When a prayer is offered from the land of Mother Sita, does it ever go unanswered? That is exactly what happened — the Supreme Court gave the verdict in favour of Ramlala,” he said.

PM Modi also highlighted connectivity initiatives under the Ramayana Circuit.

“A direct rail service from Sitamarhi to Ayodhya is part of this plan. Your son-in-law is none other than Lord Rama himself. A magnificent temple of the son-in-law of Sitamarhi has been built in Ayodhya. Now it’s the turn of Mother Sita’s maternal home. The grandeur of Punoura Dham will now be seen by the whole world.”

New Delhi, Nov 8: The Ministry of Electronics and IT on Saturday announced plans for AI-based eKYC and global credential verification in the DigiLocker platform.

Mumbai Local Train Update: CR, WR To Operate Mega Block On Nov 9, Jumbo Block Between Santacruz–Goregaon; Check Details

Published

on

Mumbai: Mumbai suburban train commuters are set to face a major disruption on Sunday, November 9, 2025, as the Central and Western Railways have announced scheduled mega blocks for essential maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. The block will affect train services on the Central, Harbour and Western Lines for several hours during the day.

According to a statement from the railways, these blocks are essential to carry out track, overhead and signal maintenance work to ensure the safety and reliability of services. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, as several trains will be diverted, delayed or cancelled during the maintenance window.

A block will be in effect on both Up and Down fast lines between Matunga and Mulund from 11:05 am to 3:45 pm.

Down fast trains departing from CSMT between 10:36 am and 3:10 pm will be diverted to the Down slow line, arriving about 15 minutes late. These trains will rejoin the fast track at Mulund.

Up fast services leaving Thane between 11:03 am and 3:38 pm will also be diverted onto the Up slow line, returning to the fast line at Matunga. Commuters can expect a similar delay of around 15 minutes.

Train services on the Up and Down Harbour lines between Kurla and Vashi will remain suspended from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm.

Down trains to Vashi, Belapur and Panvel leaving CSMT between 10:34 am and 3:36 pm and Up services from Panvel, Belapur and Vashi towards CSMT between 10:17 am and 3:47 pm, will remain cancelled.

To ease passenger movement, special suburban services will operate between CSMT–Kurla and Panvel–Vashi during the block period.

Harbour line passengers can also travel via the Thane–Vashi/Nerul section from 10 am to 6 pm.

No block has been announced for these routes; services will operate as usual.

A Jumbo Block will be imposed on the Up and Down slow lines between Santacruz and Goregaon from 10 am to 3 pm.

During this time, all slow trains will operate on fast lines, skipping halts at Vile Parle (due to short platforms) and Ram Mandir (due to platform unavailability). Services to these stations, however, will remain accessible via the Harbour line. Commuters are advised to check updates before travelling, as some suburban services will be short-terminated or cancelled due to the maintenance work.
