3 booked for assaulting mentally challenged youth in Gujarat’s Mehsana

The Unjha police have booked three persons for sexually assaulting a mentally challenged youth.
The incident was reported to the police station on Sunday evening.
The assault was reported to have happened on Saturday when the victim was out in the evening grazing goats.
The 21-year-old suffering from intellectual disability has been living with his family in North Gujarat’s Lakshmipura village. Not being financially sound, the family could not afford to put him in any special skill school. Since his childhood the youth was helping his family in the domestic chorus, as stated by the family member in the police complaint with the Unjha police station of Mehsana district.
Inspector K.J. Patel said that the victim will be taken for the medical examination though he was sexually abused on Saturday. Family members learned about the incident on Sunday and have lodged the complaint. All three accused are from the same village, but have fled the village.
In the complaint it was further stated that on Saturday Abhinav had taken goats for grazing, when three accused — Amrut Devpujak, Sanjay Devipujak and Pintu Devipujak –threatened the victim and took him to canal, which has dried up. They in turns had unnatural sex with him, after which they threatened to kill him and harm his family members if he told anyone about the incident. Next day, after looking at his health condition, the male family members coaxed him to speak and he narrated the entire incident to them.

Assam Shocker: Mob Attacks Congress MP Rakibul Hussain & Son With Cricket Bat, Police Fire In Air To Disperse Violent Crowd

Guwahati: Congress MP Rakibul Hussain and his son were reportedly attacked by a mob in Rupahihat, Assam’s Nagaon district, on Thursday, February 20. Hussain, along with his son, was travelling to a party workers’ meeting in Gunabari when the incident took place.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of individuals with their faces covered in black cloth intercepted Hussain’s convoy at Natun Bazar. They waved black flags in protest before launching a physical assault, creating chaos in the area.
Hussain and his son tried to escape on a scooter but a man attacked them severely with a bat as shown in the visuals, making the MP fall from the vehicle. Police around had to fire in the air to disperse the raging crowd.
In another clip shared on social media, Hussain could be seen rescued on a scooter, with his son Tanzil following behind him.
Local authorities acknowledged that the incident has heightened tensions in the area, prompting enhanced police patrols and a thorough investigation to identify those responsible.
A senior police official told media, “The situation is stable, and we are dedicated to addressing such acts of violence with urgency.”
Dhubri MP Hussain, who escaped unscathed, condemned the attack as “a blatant attempt to undermine democratic principles” and called for restraint among his supporters. Meanwhile, the Congress party has strongly urged a comprehensive inquiry into the security breach.

Jharkhand’s 10th board science paper leaked, exam to be cancelled

Ranchi, Feb 20: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) admitted that the Class 10 science board exam paper was leaked before the examination held on Thursday morning.
JAC President Natwa Hansda announced that the exam will be cancelled now in the entire state.
Following the leak, state Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari convened a high-level meeting on Thursday afternoon. The government has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter.
Reports suggest that the science question paper had been circulating widely on Wednesday and was available for sale. Student leader Devendra Nath Mahato met JAC officials on Wednesday with a copy of the leaked paper.
When the exam began at 9.45 a.m. on Thursday, the questions matched exactly with the leaked version. The matter was immediately reported to the state government, prompting swift administrative action to cancel the paper.
Hansda stated that a high-level committee would be formed to probe the leak.
This is not the first time that a paper has been leaked in Jharkhand before the examination. Earlier, there were strong rumours about the Hindi exam paper being leaked.
Mahato had also submitted a memorandum regarding this to the JAC Secretary.
At that time, the council dismissed the claims, issuing a general notice urging students to ignore rumours. The notice emphasised JAC’s commitment to conducting fair and confidential examinations and warned against anti-social elements spreading misinformation to exploit students and parents financially.
The Class 10 board exams in Jharkhand commenced on February 11, with 1,297 examination centres set up across the state for 4,33,890 students.
Earlier the examination was to end on March 3, but according to the changed schedule, the exams will be conducted till March 4. However, now due to the cancellation of the Science exam paper, it will be further extended.

Supreme Court Denies Bail To Arun Gawli, Upholds Life Imprisonment In Corporator’s Murder Case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday denied bail to gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli, who is serving life imprisonment in a murder case.
Gawli, who is undergoing life imprisonment for the 2007 murder of Mumbai Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar, claims to have complied with all the conditions of the 2006 remission policy.
A bench of Justices Sudhanshu Dhulia and K Vinod Chandran refused to interfere with the Bombay High Court which had rejected his bail.
The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on January 7 had granted a 28-day furlough to Gawli.
Gawli approached the Nagpur bench of the high court, praying for his release as his application was earlier rejected by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Prisons, (East division) Nagpur.
He shot into prominence from Dagdi Chawl, a neighbourhood of Byculla, and is the founder of the Akhil Bharatiya Sena. He was an MLA from 2004-2009 from the Chinchpokli seat of Mumbai.
Gawli was arrested in 2006 and was put on trial for the murder of Jamsandekar. In August 2012, a sessions court in Mumbai sentenced him to life imprisonment in the case and imposed a fine of Rs 17 lakh on him.
