UP: Youth Arrested In Saharanpur Over Post Threatening ‘Pulwama-Like’ Attack

Saharanpur: The Uttar Pradesh Police arrested a youth over a social media post threatening a repeat of the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, police informed on Thursday. The accused was identified as Mohammed Talha, a resident of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand’s Seraikela. He was arrested by Deoband Police over his post on X.
Case registered under stringent sections
A case was also registered against the accused under stringent sections, the police said.
Senior Superintendent of Police of Saharanpur, Vipin Tada told , “Police received information at Deoband police station that a youth posted some objectionable comments on Twitter (now X), in which he threatened a repeat of the Pulwama terror attack.”
“Taking note of the post, the local police have registered a case and the young man has been questioned. He confessed to putting out the post out of anger,” Tada added.
He said that the intelligence department and police have initiated a thorough probe to understand the motive behind the post.
“The police informed other agencies and a forensic investigation has been initiated on his seized mobile phone,” the SSP informed further.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, the SSP added.
The incident comes nearly a week after a terror attack on army vehicles at Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch in which four Jawans were killed.
According to official sources, the Army is planning to increase the number of troops in the Poonch-Rajouri sector to curb the activities of the Pakistan-based terrorists there.
Defence Minister chaired meet to take stock
Earlier, on Wednesday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a high-level meeting to take stock of the situation in the wake of the terror attack.
“I want to assure you that, as far as the government is concerned, the government stands by you and we give equal priority to your welfare and your convenience. We try to take steps based on whatever information is given to us,” the Raksha Mantri said.
Singh said the army is more well-equipped than before to deal with such threats.
On February 14, 2019, forty personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed when their convoy was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethapora in the Pulwama district on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The attack is believed to have been carried out by Pakistani terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed.

RG Kar case: CBI likely to stress on motive of crime in supplementary charge sheet

Kolkata, March 3: The supplementary charge sheet in the R.G. Kar rape and murder case, which the CBI is expected to file at a special court in Kolkata this month, will throw some light on the larger motive behind the crime, besides providing details on the tampering and altering of evidence when the initial probe was being done by Kolkata Police, sources said on Monday.
To establish this ‘larger motive of crime’ the investigating officials of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are heavily banking on the statements of the police personnel present at the local Tala Police station and the police outpost at R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital on the night of the crime in August last year and more specially the instructions received by them from their higher officials in the morning of August 9 when the body of the female doctor was discovered at a seminar hall within the hospital premises.
The CBI has summoned 11 cops who were posted at the Tala Police Station and the R.G. Kar outpost for interrogation during the current week.
Sources aware of the development said that the statements these 11 cops will be crucial in detailing the ‘larger motive behind crime’ in the supplementary charge sheet.
Besides extracting information on the instructions received by these 11 cops from their higher officials, sources said the investigation officials will also seek other details like whether anything suspicious came to their notice on the night of the crime or after the body of the victim was recovered and whether there was any suspicious activity by an outsider within the police station and hospital premises then.
The next hearing on the R.G. Kar rape and murder case is scheduled at the Supreme Court on March 17 and the CBI officials are trying their best to file the supplementary charge sheet at the special court in Kolkata before that.
Last week, the parents of the victim went to Delhi and had a long meeting with the CBI Director Praveen Sood on the progress of the investigation in the matter. The parents told media persons that the CBI director assured them of justice and advised them to hold patience.
To recall, earlier, the CBI arrested Sandip Ghosh, the former and controversial principal of R.G. Kar and Abhijit Mondal, the former SHO of Tala Police Station, on charges of tampering with and altering evidence during the phase of initial investigation by the city police.
However, both were granted default bail as the CBI officials failed to file a supplementary charge sheet against them within 90 days from the date of their arrests.

One arrested after Congress worker’s body found in suitcase in Haryana

New Delhi, March 3: A man was arrested in connection with the murder of Congress worker Himani Narwal, whose body was found in a suitcase, sources said on Monday.
Narwal’s body was found stuffed in a suitcase in the Rohtak district on Saturday, after which the Haryana Police set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the murder.
Her family refused to cremate her body until her killers were arrested.
Narwal lived at Vijay Nagar in Rohtak. Her body was found stuffed in a suitcase near a bus stand in Sampla town.
“The SIT has been formed. Her phone has been recovered. We are taking the help of cyber and FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory),” Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajneesh Kumar told the media on Sunday.
He said that the victim, who was pursuing an LLB (Bachelor of Law), used to live alone in the state while her family was in Delhi.
“The body was found in the bag. Later, she was identified as Himani Narwal…We called her family to the spot…We are investigating various angles and will solve the matter as early as possible,” Kumar said.
The victim’s mother said the party claimed her life. “The election and the party took my daughter’s life. Because of this, she made some enemies. They (the accused) could be from the party, or they could be her friends as well…On February 28, she was at home,” the victim’s mother Savita said.
“She was going with Rahul Gandhi and was close to the Hooda family, which is why people were having problems; they were jealous,” she added.
Congress leader and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda demanded an investigation on Saturday. “The murder of a girl in this manner and finding her body in a suitcase is extremely sad and shocking. This in itself is a blot on the law and order situation of the state. There should be a high-level impartial investigation of this murder and the government should provide justice to the victim’s family as soon as possible and provide the harshest punishment to the culprits,” Hooda added.
Congress MP Deepender Hooda said the murder has shaken everybody’s conscience.
