Prohibitory orders clamped in K’taka town after stone pelting incident

The Kolar district administration of Karnataka on Saturday clamped prohibitory orders for three days following a stone pelting incident during Sri Rama Shobha Yatra in Mulbagal town.

Tension prevailed in the town following the stone pelting incident and the decision has been taken to avoid untoward incidents.

When the Shobha Yatra was being taken out on Friday night, miscreants had pelted stones on the devotees. They had also attacked the cars, shops and vehicle riders and torched a motorcycle. Adding to this, there was a power cut, which created tension and triggered concerns.

However, the police department reined in the situation and disbursed the mob indulging in violence. The police had to resort to lathicharge to quell the mob. The authorities have gathered information and taken six accused into custody and are investigating them in connection with the violence.

Central IGP Chandrashekar has rushed to the town and is monitoring the situation. Two platoons of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), six platoons of the District Armed Reserve (DAR) have been deputed in Mulbagal town to maintain law and order.

The miscreants had pelted stones on a 16-feet tall Sri Ram idol which was carried out in a procession. Police sources say that three bikes have been torched in the incident. The media was not allowed to cover the incident of violence.

Police are further investigating the case.

Bengaluru PG Woman Murder Accused Arrested In Madhya Pradesh: Report

Days after a 24-year-old woman from Bihar was murdered at a paying guest accommodation in Bengaluru’s Koramangala area, the police have arrested the accused from Madhya Pradesh, as per reports.

The development in the case comes a day after CCTV footage of the brutal murder surfaced online. The victim Kriti Kumari, who hailed from Bihar’s Patna, used to work in a private company and was staying in an accommodation in Koramangala’s VR layout.

She was stabbed to death on Tuesday night between 11:10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. at PG outside her room. The accused has been identified as Abhishek, the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s PG roommate. He also hails from Bihar.

Bengaluru police is bringing him to the city for further investigation. He was identified from the CCTV footage at the PG.

The CCTV footage of the incident shows the accused arriving with a bag in his hand and knocking on the victim’s door. After the door opens, he enters the room. A few seconds later, the victim and the accused appear in the frame again. Now, the victim is seen crying out as she struggles to escape from the accused’s grasp.

According to reports, Abhishek frequently visited the PG and would often argue with his girlfriend, and Kriti would intervene. Kriti had reportedly asked her roommate to end her relationship with the accused, according to the police. Kriti had asked her roommate to break up with the accused, as per police.

Mumbai: 3 Pre-Primary School Caretakers Arrested For Sexually Abusing 3-Year-Old

Police arrested three caretakers at a pre-primary school in Khar (West) on Thursday for allegedly sexually abusing a three-year-old child. The accused women are currently in judicial custody. The first to report incident on July 13.

In the second week of July, the child’s parents approached the school management and accused the caretakers of sexually abusing her in the washroom. After reviewing the incident, the principal filed a case at Khar police station.

The police opened an investigation and recorded the statements of the accused on the same day, before arresting them. After filing the FIR, the management issued a statement, “We are deeply committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment to all students, and we will continue to take all necessary steps to address this situation promptly and appropriately.”

Mira Bhayandar: ANC Arrests 2, Including Tanzanian Woman, With Mephedrone Worth ₹2 Crore

Mira Bhayandar: The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) attached to the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police has arrested two people including a woman hailing from Tanzania who were found to be in possession of narcotic substance mephedrone (MD) worth more than Rs. 2 crore.

Acting on an information, the ANC led by police inspector- Amar Marathe laid a trap near the regional transport office (RTO) in the Ghodbunder area and apprehended the peddlers who have been identified as- Saud Siraj Syed (37) and Sabrina Nuzumbi (34). Upon frisking the team found 1009 grams of MD which was stuffed in their sack bags. The value of the seized contraband is pegged at Rs.2.01 crore.

While Saud is a resident of Beverly Park in Mira Road, Sabrina who hails from Kariakoo village of Dar-es-Salaam region in Tanzania was presently staying in the Pragati Nagar area of Nallasopara. While both were booked under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, an additional charge under section 14A of the Foreigners Act, 1946 for entry into the country without obtaining a permit from the authorities.

It is suspected that Sabrina’s visa had already expired and she was staying in the country in an unauthorised manner. Apart from running a background check to gather information about their suspected involvement in other similar offences, the ANC is also trying to ascertain the source of the consignment and potential buyers. Meanwhile both have been remanded to custody after they were produced before the court on Monday.
