Nafisa Ali reminisces ‘Major Saab’ days with Big B as she starts shooting for ‘Uunchai’

Veteran actress Nafisa Ali will be seen sharing screen space with megastar Amitabh Bachchan after almost two decades in the upcoming film ‘Uunchai’.

The two were last seen together in the 1998 film ‘Major Saab’.

Nafisa reminisced about working with Amitabh in the 1998 film and shared that she is excited to work with the thespian once again. She shared a monochrome photograph featuring her and Amitabh.

In the picture, the two are smiling for the camera.

She wrote in the caption: “Memories of Major Saab and the present for Uunchai.”

Nafisa also shared a string of more pictures with Amitabh, Anupam Kher, and Boman Irani and her friend Kiran Nair who was with her while she was shooting for ‘Major Saab’.

“Watching the greats – my friend Kiran Nair (a retired army officer) is here with me in Mumbai and was with me during the shooting of ‘Major Saabh’ as well. Love the feeling.”

She had earlier posted a few extra glimpses from the Mehboob Studio and wrote: “Mumbai -At Mehboob Studio – 24 years later after Major Saab feels great working together again.”

“This also marks Sooraj and Amitabh’s reunion after a span of 48 years. The duo last worked together in the 1973 film Saudagar. Amazing energy with so many genius actors on set. Sooraj is a wonderful and sensitive director. I am so excited being a part of this film Uunchai .”

‘Uunchai’ is directed by Sooraj Barjatya. It also stars Parineeti Chopra along with Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, and Boman Irani.

Mumbai, March 6: Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra has expressed admiration for her husband and politician Raghav Chadha, calling him an “inspiring human.” The actress reshared Raghav’s video on her Instagram stories and captioned it, “Crushing on this inspiring human,” followed by a red heart emoji.

In the video, Raghav could be heard expressing his excitement about being invited to participate in the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) Executive Education Program.

The AAP Rajya Sabha MP stated, “I am super excited to be back at school. I am honored to be handpicked for this prestigious program and deeply grateful to the Harvard as well as the World Economic Forum for this opportunity. This is a unique opportunity to enhance my learning in global leadership and acquire a skill set in policy-making while engaging with some of the brightest minds in governance, public affairs, and public policy. It’s truly a ‘back to school’ moment for me, and I look forward to gaining new insights that will contribute to India’s policymaking landscape.”

Raghav also emphasized the significance of incorporating these learnings into India’s policy framework. “I am eager to bring back valuable global perspectives to enhance policy decisions in India. The world is interconnected, and learning from top policymakers and experts will help us innovate and craft better solutions to challenges that affect not just India but the world at large,” he added.

Chadha was recognized as a Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

From this select group of YGLs, a few are chosen to participate in the Global Leadership and Public Policy for the 21st Century program at Harvard Kennedy School. Scheduled from March 5 to 13, 2025, in Boston, Cambridge, this exclusive program gathers leading politicians, policymakers, executives, and thought leaders for an immersive learning experience focused on global governance, leadership, and policy innovation.

97th Oscars: Priyanka Chopra, Guneet Monga’s ‘Anuja’ loses to Dutch film ‘I’m Not A Robot’

Los Angeles, March 3: Priyanka Chopra and Guneet Monga backed short film “Anuja” has lost the Dutch-language movie “I’m Not a Robot” at the 97th Oscar Awards held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

“Anuja”, which tells the story of a gifted nine-year-old girl who, alongside her sister Palak, faces a life-changing opportunity that tests their bond and mirrors the struggles of girls worldwide, was competing at the Oscars 2025 in the Best Live Action Short category.

Other contenders included “A Lien,” “The Last Ranger,” and “The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent”.

“I’m Not A Robot” is a science fiction and directed by Victoria Warmerdam. The synopsis states: “After failing an online CAPTCHA test, Max faces an existential crisis when he believes he might actually be a robot.”

Along with Priyanka and Guneet, “Anuja”, currently streaming on Netflix, Hollywood star-writer Mindy Kaling serves as its producer.

Directed by Adam J. Graves “Anuja” tells the tale of a 9-year-old title character, who works in a back-alley garment factory with her older sister Palak. The narrative follows the young protagonist as she faces a decision that will impact both her future and her family.

The short, developed in partnership with Mira Nair’s Salaam Baalak Trust, features Sajda Pathan, in a leading role. The production team spans Graves Films, Shine Global Inc (Oscar winners “War/Dance” and “Inocente”), Krushan Naik Films and Salaam Baalak Trust.

In January, Priyanka said that she is proud of the “beautiful film” “Anuja”,in which she serves as an executive producer.

Priyanka took to her Instagram stories, where she had shared a snapshot of a news article from variety.com, which had the title “Netflix Acquires ‘Anuja,’ Oscar-Shortlisted Short Film Backed by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Mindy Kaling and Guneet Monga Kapoor”.

However, the actor’s legal representative has since clarified that the couple has worked through their issues and resolved their differences.

In a recent interview, Sunita made a startling revelation about living separately from Govinda. She also shared that she has been celebrating her birthday alone for the past 12 years, which sparked further speculation about issues in their marriage.

For the unversed, Govinda and Sunita tied the knot in March 1987. The couple welcomed their daughter, Tina, in 1988, followed by their son, Yashvardhan.
