Retake is a journey for the students of Raheja College, that culminates on the main days of the festival.

Mumbai: Retake, the national level Mass Media festival organized by the Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia and Communications (B.A.M.M.C) department of L.S Raheja College of Arts and Commerce is being held on January 27 and 28 on the college campus in Mumbai.

The theme of Retake 2023 is “Bane of the Benevolent”. The theme is an inquisitive dip into the morbid corruption of beloved Disney princes and princesses. It is based on the premise that even the most benevolent protagonists can take a turn for the worst and slip into the abyss of villainy and horror. Over 30 colleges from across India are expected to participate in the event this year.Retake is a journey for the students of Raheja College, that culminates on the main days of the festival. At the onset, Team Retake organizes an Institutional Social Responsibility (I.S.R) activity every year. The initiative aims to sensitize its peer groups by acknowledging its duty towards society. one of them being its visit to the Prerana Anti Trafficking Centre in Grant Road, Mumbai on 26th December 2022, and distributing Food items plus other essentials to the underprivileged resident children.

Following the ISR event, the team organized an exclusive sports pre-event, Quidditch on 7th January 2023, which is inspired by the Harry Potter franchise. This year 11 teams from across different colleges in Mumbai participated. Renowned names such as Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya, Shailesh Lodha, Shreyash Talpade, Kamya Punjabi and Makarand Deshpande are some of the celebrities that have been a part of Retake before. Brands like Swag Box, Station 91, Arena Animation, TVS, Coca-Cola, Josh, VH1, MTV, Rio and more have also contributed immeasurably to the success of Retake over the years.

“Retake is a festival that encompasses a mix of academic, cultural, co-curricular and extra-curricular events. I am sure, this year too, the team is going to surpass all the expectations,” stated Dr. Debajit N. Mumbai : Major operation by Food and Drug Administration in Mulund, unlabeled food items seized, stock seized, businesses closed

Mumbai: The Mumbai Food and Drug Department has claimed to have seized unsanitary food items in a crackdown on unhygienic food items on the orders of FDA Commissioner Takaram Munde and under the guidance of Joint Commissioner (Food) Mahesh Chaudhary and Assistant Commissioner Chhatarpal Singh Devi. A special team of Safety Officer Rishikesh Rajesh Darshanwad and Meghna Pawar has launched a drive to take action against illegal and non-compliant food traders in Mumbai. Under this drive, the team conducted a physical inspection of the plantation of “Gupta Chana Bhinder” (Gala No. TG 137, 1/1 Dumping Road, Gautam Nagar, Milind West, Milind Central, Greater Mumbai) in Mulund. During the inspection, extremely poor and unsanitary conditions were found in the factory and the godown. In addition, there was no legal label on the packets of various food items manufactured and kept for sale in the factory, such as the manufacturer, date of manufacture or expiry date (without label). Taking immediate notice of these serious matters that are playing with the health of the public, the food safety officers have legally seized a total of 114.2 kg of food items from the factory, with an estimated value of Rs. 20 crore. The seized items included pani puri, sukhi puri, green peas and other items. Seizure of food items and testing of samples: All the above unlabeled and suspiciously colored stocks have been legally seized and the samples of the food items have been sent for further laboratory analysis. Further action will be taken under the law after receiving the analysis report. Notice to Close Business In view of the possibility of pest infestation in the farm and the fear of large-scale violation of laws, an order has been issued to immediately close the business of the said farm until the deficiencies identified by the administration are completely eliminated and the premises are completely disinfected and cleaned. Therefore, the FDA has taken action against the foodstuff.

Mumbai: Encroachments on Andheri Service Road cleared after BMC’s action against illegal hotels on open land

Mumbai: The BMC has launched a drive against illegal encroachment of hotels on open land in Mumbai and has removed the encroachments of several hotels, including the extensions of What’s Your Excuse, True 9, Juliet and Yazoo hotels. Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Dr. Ashwini Joshi has directed to take strict action against hotels illegally encroaching on the open land required for service areas. As per this directive, the operation has been started across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Under this, the West Division Office has removed the extensions of famous hotels in the Veera Desai Marg and Office New Link Road areas of Andheri West. Apart from this, the used materials have also been seized. The operation was carried out on Tuesday (June 9, 2026) by a team led by Deputy Commissioner (Zone 4) Bhagya Shri Kapse. Assistant Commissioner (West Zone) Chakrapani was accompanied by the Health Department (MOH), License Department (License), Fire Department (Fire) and Building and Factories Department (B&F). The operation was carried out by a joint team of the Health Department (MOH), License Department (License), Fire Department (Fire) and Building and Factories Department (B&F). The operation involved hotels What’s Your Excuse, True 9, Juliet and Yazoo in the Vera Desai Road and Office New Link Road areas of Andheri (West). During this operation, 24 chairs, 1 cooking range, microwave oven, 3 coolers, 1 electric fryer and 2 speakers were seized by the Health and License Department. A total of 20 manpower including officers, employees, labourers and fire brigade personnel of the department were deployed during this operation. Apart from this, JCB machinery was used. Assistant Commissioner (K-West Division) Chakrapani Ale said that these hoteliers have illegally encroached on the mandatory vacant land and expanded their service area. The unauthorized additional constructions of these hotels have been removed and the related equipment has also been seized. Chakrapani Ale has clarified that strict action will continue against unauthorized constructions in the future as well.

Mumbai: Additional Municipal Commissioner takes action against construction on plots earmarked for schools and recreational grounds in Meghwari, Lalbagh, Parel areas

Mumbai: In a bold move by the Municipal Corporation’s F (South) Division, 4 constructions on plots earmarked for schools and recreational grounds in Meghwari, Lalbagh, Parel areas were evicted today (June 9, 2026). Efforts were on for the last 12 years to vacate the said plots. With this, recreational grounds will be opened for over 50,000 citizens of Meghwari, Lalbagh, Parel and Kala Chowki areas.

Under the guidance of Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Dr. Ashwani Joshi, Deputy Commissioner (Zone-2) Prashant Sapkale, the operation was led by Assistant Commissioner (F South Zone) Vrushali Angule.

As per the Development Planning Plan-2034, vacant land nos. 1/118, 1B/118, 2/118, 3/118, 4/118 and 7/118 in Meghwari, Lalbagh, Parel and Kalachowki areas have been earmarked for public purposes as recreational grounds and municipal schools. The total area of ​​the plot is 7,872.14 sq m. Out of which 13 vacant plot holders were residing on an area of ​​about 274 sq m. The said tenants as well as construction holders were informed to opt for alternative flats or financial compensation as per the local ready reckoner rate as per the prevailing policy of the Municipal Corporation. Accordingly, they were formally informed about the vacating of the concerned constructions. Out of these 13 constructions, 07 constructions have been evicted. However, the eviction proceedings of the remaining 06 constructions will be initiated soon. Efforts have been going on for the last 12 years to vacate the said plot. Along with this, the recreational ground will remain open for more than 50 thousand citizens of Meghwari, Lalbagh, Parel and Kala Chowki areas.

The eviction was carried out with the help of 02 JCBs, 01 dumper, 01 ambulance and other equipment to remove the encroachments. During this operation, 45 officers and employees of the Municipal Corporation along with adequate police force were deployed.
