Mumbai: Central Railway Local Train Services Disrupted Due To Rail Fracture Near Matunga

Published

Mumbai: The city’s busy morning commute was disrupted on Tuesday due to a rail fracture on the Central Railway line, leading to delays in suburban and long-distance train services.

The rail fracture was reported between Matunga and Dadar stations on the Central Railway, causing widespread disruptions during peak hours. “The track was declared safe by 9:25 am with trains running at a restricted speed of 30 kmph. This led to delays of 10-15 minutes across services,” a Central Railway spokesperson stated.

Addressing commuter frustrations, DRM Mumbai-CR posted on X: “Due to technical issues on the UP local line between Matunga – Dadar, suburban services are currently running behind schedule. We regret the inconvenience caused.” Officials assured that normal operations would resume by late afternoon.

Crack Found On Railway Track Near Vaitarna Recently

Meanwhile, recently long-distance train services entering Mumbai from the Western Railway line faced delays of up to 30 minutes due to a crack in the track near Vaitarna station in the Mumbai division. The issue was detected on January 21 at 7:30 am on the up-line, and temporary repairs were completed by 8:00 am, enabling trains to resume operations at reduced speeds.

To ensure safety, railway personnel clamped the affected portion of the track, with permanent repairs scheduled during a maintenance block later in the day. Western Railway updated commuters via its X handle, stating, “WR’s Mumbai suburban local trains and long-distance trains entering Mumbai are running late by 15-20 minutes due to a technical failure at Vaitarna Station.”

Mumbai Weather Update: Heavy Rain Alert Issued For City & Konkan; IMD Issues Yellow Alert

Published

on

Mumbai: Mumbai began the week under heavy cloud cover on Monday morning, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for the city and its surrounding regions. After intermittent but intense showers over the past few days, weather officials have forecast widespread rainfall across Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and other parts of the Konkan belt throughout the day.

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in several districts, including Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Palghar and Sindhudurg. The alert indicates the possibility of disruptions due to waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic delays and interruptions to suburban rail services. Maximum and minimum temperatures in Mumbai are likely to hover around 29 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively, keeping conditions cool but humid.

In Thane and Navi Mumbai, heavy showers are predicted to persist through the day. Heavy rain showers may lead to disruptions on the Central & Harbour Railway routes, which are often affected during prolonged spells of monsoon rain. Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution while stepping out, especially during peak rainfall hours.

Palghar district, which has already been receiving continuous rainfall over the past two to three days, remains under a yellow alert. While some parts are likely to see moderate rain, others may experience intense downpours accompanied by strong winds. The IMD has also cautioned about damp and humid conditions prevailing across the region.

The southern Konkan districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg are also bracing for another day of heavy rain. These areas, which have been dealing with waterlogging and disruptions to daily life over the past week, are expected to face similar challenges again.

Mumbai: All newly manufactured local trains will be equipped with automatic door closing systems to enhance passenger safety, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Saturday in Mumbai.

The Minister was speaking to the media on the occasion of a breakthrough in a 4.8 km tunnel for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project.

Highlighting the importance of Mumbai’s suburban rail network, which is often referred to as the city’s lifeline, Vaishnaw said, “In view of passenger safety, we are working to install automatic door closers on all local trains.” He added that efforts are underway to retrofit existing local trains with the automatic door closing system.

“In the future, all newly built non-AC local trains will come with provisions for automatic door closers,” he confirmed. He also noted that all AC local trains already feature this system.

The Minister further stated that the tendering process to procure 238 new AC local trains for Mumbai has already been initiated. “Soon, the face of Mumbai’s suburban rail network will be completely transformed,” he said.

“The move is expected to significantly improve passenger safety and convenience, particularly during peak hours when overcrowding can lead to accidents related to open train doors” said an official.

Government money is not anyone’s father’s, Abu Asim Azmi is angry at Muslims being told that salt is forbidden, BJP leaders’ hatred, Bihar and the secular public need to consider

Published

Mumbai: Maharashtra Samajwadi Party leader and MLA Abu Asim Azmi has strongly condemned BJP leader and MP and Union Minister Giriraj Singh for calling Muslims as salt haram and traitors and has appealed to the secular people and Muslims to teach the BJP a lesson in the Bihar elections. He said that the way hatred against Muslims has become common in the BJP government, communalism is on the rise and the situation is so bad that BJP leaders are sowing the seeds of hatred against Muslims and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is silent on it and does not even open his lips.
Giriraj Singh, who called Muslims traitors, should understand that government money does not belong to anyone’s father. I want to tell the Muslims of Bihar and Andhra Pradesh that Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu are supporting a government whose ministers have such hateful views about Muslims. Azmi said that the BJP government looks for an opportunity to humiliate Muslims and its hateful leaders constantly spread venom against Muslims. Nitish Rane in Maharashtra and Mumbai also spreads venom against Muslims. In such a situation, it is necessary to restrain the language of these ministers. It is because of such ministers and leaders that communalism is on the rise. Along with calling Muslims as forbidden salt, Giriraj Singh said that Muslims take advantage of government schemes and do not even vote. They are forbidden salt and traitors. On this, Azmi said that the government collects money by collecting taxes on everything, therefore government money does not belong to anyone’s father. The minister should keep this in mind.
