India on Thursday reported 11,919 fresh Covid cases and 470 deaths in the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health and Family welfare on Thursday morning.
The recovery of 11,242 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,38,85,132. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.28 per cent, highest since March 2020. The total death toll has reached 4,64,623.
The active caseload stands at 1,28,672. Active cases presently constitute 0.37 per cent of the country’s total positive cases, the lowest since March 2020.
Also in the same period, a total of 12,32,505 tests were conducted across the country. India has so far conducted over 62.82 crore cumulative tests.
Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate at 0.94 per cent has remained less than 2 per cent for the last 55 days now.
The daily positivity rate stands at 0.97 per cent, which has also remained below 2 per cent for the last 45 days and less than 3 per cent for 80 consecutive days now.
With the administration of 73,44,739 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid inoculation coverage has reached 114.46 crore as of Thursday morning.
This has been achieved through 1,17,53,091 sessions.
India reports 6,822 new Covid cases, lowest in 558 days
In the last 24 hours, India registered 6,822 new coronavirus cases, the lowest single-day spike in 558 days, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Tuesday.
Also in the same period, 220 people succumbed to the virus, which increased the overall nationwide death toll to 4,73,757.
The recovery of 10,004 patients has increased the cumulative tally to 3,40,79,612. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.36 per cent, the highest since March 2020.
India’s active caseload presently stands at 95,014, which is also lowest in the last 554 days. Active cases account for 0.27 per cent of the country’s total positive cases, the lowest since March 2020.
Meanwhile, the country conducted a total of 10,79,384 tests in the last 24 hours, which increased the overall number to over 64.94 crore.
The weekly positivity rate at 0.78 per cent has remained less than 1 per cent for the last 23 days now.
The daily positivity rate at 0.63 per cent has also remained below 2 per cent for last 64 days and less than 3 per cent for 99 consecutive days now.
With the administration of 79,39,038 vaccine doses, India’s Covid inoculation coverage has reached 128.76 crore as of Tuesday morning.
This has been achieved through 1,34,23,668 sessions.
More than 20.13 crore balance and unutilised Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs to be administered.
Maha reports Omicron cases for 3rd day running, tally now 10
For the third consecutive day, Maharashtra reported cases of Covid-19 variant Omicron, with two more in Mumbai taking the state’s tally to 10, health officials said on Monday.
A 37-year-old man who arrived here from South Africa’s Johannesburg on November 25 has tested positive and also his 36-year-old friend who landed in Mumbai from the US on the same day.
Both patients have not shown symptoms and are admitted to the BMC’s Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri east.
The two patients have taken jabs of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine.
Additionally, five high-risk and 315 low-risk contacts of both the men have also been traced and further tracking is underway.
The development followed 7 persons testing Omicron positive on Sunday, including a Nigerian woman, 44, of Indian origin,, and her two daughters arriving in Pune from Lagos, and a man coming here after a visit to Finland.
Even the 45-year old brother of the 44-year old woman and his two children were infected and tested positive for Omicron, and all seven are under treatment at a hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The health authorities have traced another 13 close contacts of the three Nigerian women and surveillance of people arriving by flights from the ‘high risk’ or ‘at risk’ nations to Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur has been intensified.
On December 4, the state’s first Omicron patient was confirmed in Thane when a 33-year-old man arrived from Capetown via Dubai and New Delhi to Mumbai, tested positive. He is undergoing treatment at a Covid Centre in Kalyan-Dombivali.
Of the total 34,700 passengers who arrived including 6,263 from the risk nations, 6,898 have undergone RT-PCR tests, and reports of 11 who tested positive have been sent for genomic sequencing, said the Health Department.
India reports 8,306 new Covid cases, 211 deaths
In the past 24 hours, India registered 8,306 new coronavirus cases and 211 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its latest update on Monday.
With the addition of the new fatalities, the nationwide death toll has climbed to 4,73,537.
The recovery of 8,834 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,40,69,608. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.35 per cent, the highest since March 2020.
India’s active caseload presently stands at 98,416 and active cases account for 0.28 per cent of the country’s total positive Cases, which is also the lowest since March 2020.
Also in the same period, a total of 8,86,263 tests were conducted across the country, taking the cumulative total to 64.82 crore.
Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate at 0.78 per cent has remained less than 1 per cent for the last 22 days now.
The daily positivity rate stands at 0.94 per cent, which has also remained below 2 per cent for last 63 days and less than 3 per cent for 98 consecutive days now.
With the administration of 24,55,911 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid inoculation coverage has reached 127.93 crore as of Monday morning.
This has been achieved through 1,32,86,429 sessions.
More than 21 crore balance and unutilised vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs to be administered, according to the Health Ministry.
