India Monitoring Pakistan's Involvement In Bangladesh Unrest

In the wake of crisis in Bangladesh and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina currently staying in India, the Centre convened an All-Party meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday morning. As per the reports, it was discussed in the meeting if any foreign powers are involved in Bangladesh unrest and news about a Pakistani diplomat constantly changing his social media display picture to reflect the situation in Bangladesh amidst violent protests. The Centre said it is monitoring from all angles and powers involved in Bangladesh unrest, reports say.

The meeting was briefed by External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and attended by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and leaders from other parties like TMC, NCP (SP), RJD among others. It was also discussed if Sheikh Hasina will continue staying in India or seek political asylum in the UK.

Sheikh Hasina flew from her country immediately after resigning from the post of Prime Minister following the massive student protests and voilence, which killed at least 135 people on Monday amidst police firings, mob beatings, and arson across the country.

In the All-Party meeting on Tuesday, S Jaishankar said that India is monitoring the situation in Bangladesh post Sheikh Hasina’s resignation. He also said that the current situation is alarming to immediatly evacuate the Indian nationals staying in Bangladesh.

After fleeing from Dhaka, on Monday evening Hasina landed at the Ghaziabad’s Hindon Air Base near New Delhi in a C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft. India had earlier given asylum to Sheikh Hasina in 1975 after her father- legendary statesman Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rehman’s assassination. She continued staying in India for next four to six years.

The events have put India in a tricky situation. Although there is a possibilit that Hasina will fly to the UK after the required clearance and diplomatic decisions, however there is no confirmation from either of the countries.

On the current situation, former Foreign Secretary and ex-Ambassador to Bangladesh, Harsh Vardhan Shringla had said on Monday that it is difficult to say at the moment. but India has never denied safe haven or asylum to those who have been in our neighbourhood.

Mumbai: BMC Receives Four Bids For ₹4,000 Crore Waste Management Contract; Costs Exceed Estimate By Over 30%

Mumbai: Nearly seven months after floating a tender for a service-based waste-management system covering outsourced cleaning and transportation across 21 administrative wards, the BMC has received four bids for the Rs. 4,000-crore contract. However, all bids are 32–34% higher than the civic body’s estimated cost, raising fresh concerns over project feasibility and budget escalation.

The financial bids were opened on Tuesday. Participating companies include AG Enviro, Prime, Metro Waste Management, and Delhi Waste Management. The tender is divided into eight groups. According to the civic circular, contracts over Rs. 250 crore exceeding the estimate by more than 10% cannot be negotiated and require re-tendering. Officials indicated a re-tender is likely due to unexpectedly high bids.

Under the new service-based model, a single agency will manage both waste collection and transportation using high-capacity, colour-coded vehicles 10–15% of which will be electric. The agency will also handle maintenance, movement, and management of waste bins, aiming for a more streamlined and efficient system.

The BMC labour union protested, citing fears of job losses. After assurances that existing jobs would be protected, the contract proceeded to the bidding stage.

Mumbai generates approximately 6,900 metric tonnes of waste daily, managed using around 1,334 vehicles. While the BMC owns some vehicles, most are supplied by private contractors. Currently, the BMC operates on a hiring-based contract model for vehicles, while waste collection and processing are handled directly. Only wards L (Kurla), M East (Govandi), and M West (Chembur) rely primarily on municipal vehicles due to proximity to the Kanjur Marg and Deonar dumping grounds.

Mumbai: In a major action against narcotics trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Crime Branch, Kandivali Unit, seized heroin worth ₹1.16 crore during a late-night operation in Andheri on Monday–Tuesday. Two drug suppliers were arrested while they had allegedly arrived in Andheri West to sell the contraband.

According to officials, one of the arrested accused hails from Uttar Pradesh, while the other is a native of Bihar. Both had been living in the Bandra area for the past few months. Police are now searching for other members of the drug network involved in the case.

A senior officer said that the drug trafficking chain is extensive, and continuous interrogation of the arrested accused is underway to uncover more links.

The ANC Kandivali Unit received a tip-off from a confidential informant that two men would be arriving near Andheri Railway Station (West) for drug peddling. Acting swiftly, the unit laid a trap in the area. Based on suspicion, two young men were detained, and upon searching them, police recovered 292 grams of heroin, valued at ₹1.16 crore in the international market.

Both suspects were immediately arrested. The Crime Branch is now conducting further investigation to trace other individuals connected to the drug trafficking racket.
