India logs 9,119 fresh Covid cases, 396 deaths in 24 hrs

India reported 9,119 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

Also, as many as 396 fatalities were registered pushing the toll to 4,66,980, it said.

The recovery of 10,264 patients during the same period has increased the cumulative tally to 3,39,67,962. Consequently, the recovery rate stands at 98.33 per cent, highest since March 2020.

Currently, the active caseload stands at 1,09,940 constituting 0.32 per cent of the country’s total positive cases, the lowest since March 2020.

Also in the same period, a total of 11,50,538 tests were conducted. India has so far conducted over 63.59 crore cumulative tests.

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate at 0.90 per cent has remained less than 2 per cent for the last 62 days now.

The daily positivity rate stands at 0.79 per cent, which has also remained below 2 per cent for last 52 days and less than 3 per cent for 87 consecutive days now.

With the administration of 90,27,638 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid inoculation coverage has reached 119.38 crore as of Thursday morning.

This has been achieved through 1,23,73,056 in sessions.

More than 22.72 crore balance and unutilised Covd-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs to be administered, according to the health ministry.

Mira Road: A grand and grand conference titled “Seerat-un-Nabi ﷺ and Unity of the Ummah” organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Mira Road was held at NH School Ground, in which the extraordinary participation of more than 3500 men and women made it a historic gathering.

The opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Tariq Shah (Ameer of Local Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Mira Road) and it was made clear that the main objective of the conference is to promote unity and solidarity in the Muslim Ummah, to build Islamic character in the light of the Seerat-e-Nabvi ﷺ, and to strengthen the struggle for the revival of the Prophetic mission in the society. He also explained the activities, subsidiary organizations and projects of Jamaat-e-Islami. He said that the main objective of this gathering is to bring the Ummah together at one center in the light of the Seerat-e-Nabvi ﷺ and to strengthen the struggle for positive change in the society.

The presidential address was delivered by Maulana Waliullah Saeedi Falahi, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, which was greatly appreciated by the audience. Maulana said in his address that the success of the Ummah lies in the complete adherence to the Seerat-e-Prophet (peace be upon him). If Muslims adopt the morals, justice, and wisdom of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), then society can become a cradle of peace and justice. He guided in the light of the Seerat-e-Prophet (peace be upon him) and said that religion commands us to be just, honest, and serve the people, and these qualities form the foundation of a strong nation and a developed society.

The general address was delivered by Ameer-e-Halqa of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Maharashtra Maulana Ilyas Khan Falahi, Nazim City Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Mumbai Mr. Rashid Khan, Mohtamam Darul Uloom Azizia Maulana Abdullah Qasmi, Imam Haideri Mosque Syed Hassan Imam, and political leader Syed Muzaffar Hussain.

Other speakers shed comprehensive light on important topics such as the role of Muslims in the development and progress of the country, the strength of the family system, the active role of women in Islamic movements, and the mission of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)—propagating the message of religion and forming the best moral character. Finally, the conference in-charge Atta-ul-Haq specially thanked all the participants, social and religious leaders, the public, and the organizational departments—SIO, GIO, and Youth Movement—for their services.
The gathering ended with a heartfelt prayer by Maulana Zakaria Sahib.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has opposed the Dharavi project. Now MNS president Raj Thackeray has also joined it. A public meeting has been organized at Kamaraj Ground on December 7. In this meeting, Raj Thackeray can take some important steps with Dharavi. Everyone’s attention is on this rally. Dharavi Bachao Samiti has organized an all-party meeting at Kamaraj School Ground on December 7. The main objective of this meeting is to raise voice against the shortcomings of the Adani Group’s survey. The committee has alleged that in the name of redevelopment, old residents were included in the survey. And the eligible residents are being ignored, due to which the eligible residents are at risk of losing their homes. The local people have organized this meeting to bring all party leaders on one platform. It is expected that the Thackeray family will be seen together in this meeting. Earlier, Aditya Phakre has also opposed this project. The Dharavi Bachao Committee has also invited Raj Thackeray in the meeting. If the two brothers unite and rise against this project, then it is a challenge for the Adani Group and the government. To change the face of Dharavi, this project has been started on a 600-acre plot of land in the middle of Mumbai. The government claims to provide better houses and facilities to the residents of this place. The contract for this complete redevelopment project has been given to a company of the Adani Group. The current plan is to provide free houses of 405 square feet to the slum dwellers.

Cyclone Ditwah Triggers Heavy Rain, Flight Cancellations in Tamil Nadu

MUMBAI — Severe cyclonic storm Ditwah is significantly impacting the southern state of Tamil Nadu, bringing torrential rainfall, high winds, and widespread disruptions to air travel.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alerts for several districts in Tamil Nadu as the cyclone tracks closer to the coastline. Authorities are urging residents in coastal areas to remain indoors and take necessary precautions as conditions deteriorate.

The heavy rainfall has led to waterlogging in several major cities and towns, affecting daily life and causing traffic gridlock. Disaster response teams have been deployed to assist with any flood-related emergencies.

In Mumbai, officials are monitoring the situation in the south, although the immediate weather impact on Maharashtra is minimal. However, airlines operating out of Mumbai have confirmed numerous flight cancellations and delays for services bound for Chennai and other affected southern airports. Passengers are strongly advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest updates on flight status before traveling to the airport.

State disaster management units in Tamil Nadu remain on high alert, coordinating relief efforts and preparing for potential evacuation operations if the situation escalates further.
