Hina Khan on Cannes 2022: Hope I continue to represent India and make my country proud

Actress Hina Khan has had two Cannes Film Festival experiences so far. Her debut at the French Riviera in 2019 and her second outing there in 2022 has also been an experience that she will always remember.
Says Hina: “Representing India on the global platform is a huge deal. And I consider that a very high honour. And I am so glad that I gotta do it at both of my Cannes appearances. I sincerely hope that I continue to get this opportunity every time.”
Hina’s Indo-English film ‘Country of Blind’s posters, launched at the prestigious film festival.
Talking about it, Hina reveals: “I remember launching Lines’ poster and the praise that accompanied that was immense. And it only grew manifold when I launched ‘Country of Blind’ poster. Both the films have been very close to my heart for various reasons and both being at Cannes only made them even more special. I couldn’t have asked for anything more at that moment!”
Hina also went on to elaborate more on why her presence at Cannes matters a lot to her.
“Cannes is a platform where different film fraternities come together to celebrate cinema and represent their respective countries. I consider myself very fortunate to have been on that platform to represent my country. That’s what I want to do, represent India and make it shine on the world map,” Hina confesses.
The film festival was held online in 2020 and because of vaccinations, many attendees couldn’t make it to the event in 2021.
Talking about it, Hina adds: “The pandemic disrupted everything. But it was refreshing to go to Cannes after 2 years. What also came as a very pleasant surprise was to see how much Indian representation has increased in comparison to what we saw in 2019. It was lovely to see so many Indian actresses and talent walk the red carpet and represent India. In fact, the kind of content presented this time at Cannes was also very enjoyable. I am glad to see that Covid did not dampen anyone’s spirits.”

Farhan Akhtar On Jee Le Zaraa: ‘Hollywood Strike Has Put Priyanka Chopra’s Dates Into A Huge Tizzy’

Mumbai: Waiting for Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif’s ‘Jee Le Zaraa’ to go on floors? If yes, then you will be left a little disappointed. In an interview with US-based publication Variety, director Farhan Akhtar shared that the film is on hold at the moment. “We just have issues with dates, and the actor’s strike that’s happened has put Priyanka’s dates into a huge tizzy with what can happen and what can’t, so I’ve started genuinely believing that that film now has a destiny of its own. It’ll happen when it has to, we’ll see,” Farhan told Variety.
Farhan referred to an ongoing writers and actors’ strike in Hollywood.
The film promises to be another tale of friendship following the lineage of ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’. The upcoming film will star Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles.
Farhan announced ‘Jee Le Zaraa’ in August 2021.
“Did someone say road trip? Thrilled to announce my next film as director and what better day than 20 years of ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ to do it. #JeeLeZaraa with @priyankachopra #KatrinaKaif @aliaa08. I cannot wait to get this show on the road,” Farhan had posted on Twitter.
Farhan has penned the film’s script with Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti.

Tamannaah Bhatia & Divya Dutta Visit New Parliament, Laud Women’s Reservation Bill

Actor Tamannaah Bhatia on Thursday (September 21) visited the new Parliament building and hailed the Women’s Reservation Bill. Speaking to the media, Tamannaah said, “This bill will inspire common people to join politics.”
Actor Divya Dutta also shared her views on the bill. “This (Women’s Reservation Bill) is a big initiative. It feels really good. The women are being brought to the forefront. To witness a special session of Parliament is an experience in itself,” she said.
Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal moved the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
“Through the Constitutional Amendment Bill that I have brought today, a section will be inserted in Article 330, Article 332, and Article 334. Through these, 1/3rd of the seats will be reserved in the Lok Sabha and all State Assemblies of the country. This is a major step,” Meghwal said in the Rajya Sabha.
The Lok Sabha scripted history on Wednesday as it passed the Bill reserving a third or 33 per cent of seats for women in national and state legislatures with an overwhelming majority. The Bill seeks to grant one-third of its seats to women in both the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
The ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ is the first bill passed by Lok Sabha during the special session after it shifted to the new Parliament building on Tuesday. The Rajya Sabha had earlier passed the Women’s Reservation Bill in 2010 during the Congress-led UPA government but it was not taken up in the Lok Sabha and subsequently lapsed in the lower House of Parliament.
