For second day, AAP protests in Mumbai against Delhi Dy CM’s arrest
For the second consecutive day, the Aam Aadmi Party protested against the arrest of Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia by the Central Bureau of Investigation in an alleged corruption case, here on Monday.
On Monday, hundreds of AAP workers staged noisy demonstrations near Churchgate station, after a similar protest outside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) on Sunday.
Incidentally, Sisodia’s arrest on Sunday came two days after the AAP’s Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had come for a high-profile meeting with the President of Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra ex-CM Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai (February 24), to discuss a common platform to fight the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing the gathering near Churchgate on Monday, AAP Mumbai President Preeti Sharma-Menon said that this is a state of ‘undeclared emergency’ in the country and the party would not be cowed down by Sisodia’s arrest and said he was being targeted by the CBI without a base.
“We were born on the streets of India, protesting against corruption and injustice… If one Manish Sisodia is arrested, crores more like him will emerge,” thundered Sharma-Menon.
She alleged that on one hand there is Gautam Adani who scammed Indians of lakhs of crores of rupees and there is no action against him by the CBI, and there were many scandals by the Congress during the UPA regime, but the CBI did not act against any of its leaders.
“On the other hand, Sisodia, who is the architect of Delhi government’s education revolution is being unnecessarily hounded in a fake case… This is an attack on the excellent world-class education being imparted to millions of students by the Delhi administration,” she said.
Other leaders said that the BJP fears only APP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scared of only Arvind Kejriwal, and they are being targeted as AAP is the country’s fastest growing political party with the capacity to take on the BJP.
The Mumbai Police had deployed tight security around Churchgate and detained a large number of the protestors.

According to the information, the fire was reported at 2 pm and was extinguished by 2.10 pm. The incident was reported by the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB).
Visuals from the spot show firefighting personnel engaged in efforts to douse the remaining flames. Two buses are seen burnt from the outside. A small fire is still visible inside the second bus as firefighters continue operations at the location.
Emergency response teams, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, 108 ambulance services and ward staff, were mobilised to the spot. No injuries have been reported in the incident.
Three minor fire incidents were reported across the city on Sunday, including two at commercial establishments and one on a road following a Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) pipeline burst, triggering panic among residents. No injuries were reported in any of the incidents, and all three were brought under control by the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB).
The first incident was reported around midnight near Navjeevan Society, opposite Reliance Mall in Mumbai Central. According to the disaster management cell, the blaze affected five large shops and seven small shops. Mumbai’s Mayor Ritu Tawde Announces Live Broadcast Of BMC Meetings To Ensure Accountability

Mumbai: Citizens can now directly witness how the corporators they elected from their respective wards speak in the house and raise pressing civic issues. For the first time in its history, the general body meetings of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are being telecast live on its official YouTube channel, “@MyBMCMyMumbai,” starting Monday.
While the BMC had been working on live-streaming its proceedings for some time, the official rollout appears to have been accelerated following a significant uproar during a recent general body meeting. The controversy stemmed from alleged remarks about Bal Thackeray made by opposition leader Kishori Pednekar. She made these comments while addressing a point of order raised by former mayor Vishakha Raut, who highlighted the absence of proper protocol to honour the mayor at public events. Pednekar was reportedly referring to a civic function linked to Asha Bhosle, where she was seated in the second row.
Announcing the move, Mayor Ritu Tawde said that live telecasts would enhance transparency and allow citizens to observe firsthand how their elected representatives address civic concerns. The initiative also follows a demand raised by Amrin Shehzad Abrahani, who had written to the mayor advocating for live coverage of BMC proceedings and had circulated a supporting video.

Mumbai Local Train Update: Empty Local Coach Derails Near Dombivli Railway Station, Services Hit On UP Line

Mumbai: A coach of an empty suburban local train derailed near Dombivli railway station on Monday morning, causing disruption to rail services on the busy Central line. The incident occurred at approximately 8:09 am when the rake was en route from Kalwa Car Shed to Kalyan Junction railway station.
A viral video of the incident shows the derailed local train stuck on the tracks. Meanwhile, a crowd gathered near the derailed local train. Many officegoers can be seen waiting for the local train at the platform.
According to preliminary information, one coach of the empty local rake derailed while approaching the station, leading to temporary operational hurdles. As the train was not in passenger service at the time of the incident, no injuries were reported, officials confirmed.
However, the derailment impacted suburban traffic during the morning rush hour. At least three UP-direction local trains were held up due to the obstruction on the tracks, resulting in delays for commuters travelling towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and other key destinations along the route.
Railway authorities rushed to the site soon after the incident to assess the situation and initiate restoration work. Efforts were also made to regulate train movement and minimise inconvenience to passengers. While the exact cause of the derailment is yet to be determined, an inquiry is expected to be launched to ascertain the reasons behind the incident.
According to latest updates, the rerailment was done at 10.10 am and normal operations resumed from 10.45 am after brief disruption of local train services for nearly 3 hours.
