Popular YouTuber, who landed in trouble after appearing as a guest on comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent recently, has moved Guwahati High Court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with the FIR lodged against him.

On February 10, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that Guwahati Police registered an FIR against Ashish, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina and others for promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussion on India’s Got Latent.

The Guwahati Crime Branch registered a case under various sections of BNS 2023, IT Act, 2000, Cinematograph Act 1952, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.

Guwahati Joint Police Commissioner, Ankur Jain, had earlier informed ANI, “We have got one FIR explaining how these YouTubers have made comments on the father, mother and child relationship and how they in a very obscene manner represented this some vulgar act they have done on a YouTube show. So we have registered one FIR… We are identifying who these YouTubers are – the main host was Samay Raina and the person who made the comment which is shown in the clip is Ranveer Allahabadia and the others are also there. We are trying to identify them and then we will be taking the strictest measures possible in this case.”

India’s Got Latent controversy

The controversy began after Ranveer, popularly known as Beer Biceps, asked a contestant of India’s Got Latent, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?”

Others panelists, including Ashish, laughed over Ranveer’s supposed ‘joke’.

The remarks were deemed vulgar and inappropriate. Following criticism and social media outrage, Samay Raina deleted the related videos from his YouTube channel.
