Malali Masjid row: Mosque management seeks quashing of VHP petition
The Malali mosque row in Dakshina Kannada district has taken a new twist with the masjid management making a submission to the local court on Tuesday to quash the VHP demand.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had moved to the court demanding appointment of a court commissioner to survey the Juma Masjid in Malali town near Mangaluru. Challenging this, the management of Assayed Abdullahil Madani Mosque administrative committee filed the petition.
The Third Additional Civil Court will take up the matter on Tuesday. The court is likely to take a decision on whether to order a survey there.
Meanwhile, Union Minister for State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shobha Karandlaje on Tuesday said that historical blunders must be rectified in the country.
Speaking to the reporters on the Malali Mosque row in Dakshina Kannada district, she said that the Union Home Ministry was keenly observing the developments in this regard.
“There should be a discussion on which buildings have to belong to the Hindus. If everyone thinks in this regard, all can live unitedly. Temples have been brought down to construct mosques in the country. But, we have not witnessed the events,” she explained.
“There are blunders during the time of our elders. Historians and archeologists should dig out the facts and should guide on what is wrong and what is correct,” she said.
Temple structure was found on April 21 during the renovation of Malali mosque, stirring up a controversy. Following the controversy, the court had ordered the mosque management to stop the work.

Mumbai Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar bridge should be opened for weighing vehicles: Abu Asim Azmi

Mumbai: Maharashtra Samajwadi Party leader and MLA has demanded in the assembly that a flyover bridge should be started for heavy vehicles to curb fatal accidents in Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar. Fatal accidents are happening every month in Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar. Earlier there were high tension wires on the bridge built on GM Link Road, then the bridge was closed due to heavy vehicles. Later the wires were also removed and the flyover department has also allowed heavy vehicles to pass, however, heavy vehicles are still not being allowed to move. Today in the House, a demand was made to start the movement of heavy vehicles on this bridge. Abu Asim Azmi said that recently a tragic accident took place here in which three people died.

Mumbai: Police have claimed to have arrested one of the most wanted accused involved in the 1993 Mumbai riots. Mumbai’s Wadala police arrested a fugitive accused who was on the run for 32 years during an operation to search for wanted accused. 54-year-old Arif Ali Hashimullah Khan has been arrested from Antop Hill. The accused did not appear in court during the hearing. A warrant was also issued against him, after which the police arrested the accused and presented him in the court and the court ordered his remand. This operation was carried out by Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti and Port Zone DCP Vijay Sagar.
