A Kerala court on Friday granted bail to Malayalam director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan who was arrested on a complaint by leading actress Manju Warrier who alleged she was being threatened and stalked by Sasidharan.

Incidentally, even though the police were willing to grant him police station bail on Thursday night, he was not willing and finally the police were forced to present him before a local court at Aluva near here on Friday.

The court asked why he refused when he could have got police station bail, he said he wanted to say a few things in court.

The court heard it and granted him bail after two sureties asked to stand as guarantee.

In dramatic scenes on Thursday, he was taken into custody based on a complaint from Manju Warrier that she was being threatened and stalked by him for a while.

Sasidharan along with his relatives had come to a temple near his home town Parassala in the state capital district when three cops in plainclothes tried to forcibly take him into custody.

Soon the director went live on Facebook alleging that his life was in danger as a few people were trying to “kidnap” him.

He was seen shouting that he does not have faith in the system in the state and is presently living at his sister’s home in Tamil Nadu, which borders Parassala.

Soon local policemen arrived and Sasidharan was taken into custody based on the complaint by Warrier.

The 45-year-old Sasidharan in the past few days shared a few social media posts, claiming that the life of Warrier was in danger.

He alleged her managers were the reason why she was in trouble. He also pointed out that she is in “custody” of some people.

‘Dil Ka Kya’ a heady dose of nostalgia from golden era of modern Hindi film music

Published

on

Mumbai, June 9: The song ‘Dil Ka Kya’ from the upcoming film ‘Metro…In Dino’ was unveiled on Monday. The song is composed by Prtiam, and has been crooned by Raghav Chaitanya with lyrics by Anurag Sharma.

The song is a hat-tip to the cult song ‘Alvida’ from ‘Life in a… Metro’, which was also composed by Pritam. It is modern yet nostalgic, and deeply melancholic. The melodic structure is similar yet very different from Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s ‘Die With a Smile’.

Niladri Kumar once again brings his A-game to the table with his Zitar solo, an ornament in Pritam’s songs.

The video of the song is set across the intertwined lives of four couples, and explores the fragile nuances of romantic connection and separation amid the relentless chaos of city life.

‘Metro…In Dino’ marks the final chapter of Anurag Basu’s trilogy of hyperlinked cinema. The film’s recently launched trailer has received a positive response from audiences with a storyline that feels both intimate and universal.

The film features an ensemble cast including Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sensharma, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Neena Gupta, and Saswata Chatterjee.

The film is the sequel to ‘Life in a… Metro’, which was released during the golden age of modern Hindi film music. The album was the first all rock album in Bollywood, and set many trends, and inspired countless musicians across the country.

‘Metro…In Dino’ marks another collaboration between musical soulmates Anurag Basu and Pritam, who first worked together in the iconic album ‘Gangster’ setting the path to what would become one of the most memorable partnerships and director-music composer duo in Hindi cinema.

Presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series presents, in association with Anurag Basu Productions Pvt. Ltd., ‘Metro…In Dino’ is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Anurag Basu, and Taani Basu.

The film is set to arrive in cinemas on July 4, 2025.

David Attenborough to explore marine secrets, threats in World Oceans Day documentary

Mumbai, June 6: Biologist, natural historian and writer David Attenborough is taking a deep dive into our oceans. He is set to take the audience in the realm of the marine world with his upcoming documentary film ‘Ocean by David Attenborough’ on National Geographic.

The film is set to release on the occasion of World Oceans Day.

The powerful documentary talks about the importance of the world’s oceans and the story of how we can, and must, restore the glory of Earth’s vast, interconnected waters.

The film draws upon extensive marine science and was supported by a team of scientific advisors, including National Geographic Pristine Seas Founder, Enric Sala.

The film features footage of bottom trawling, the act of dragging weighted fishing nets along the ocean floor, and its devastating effects on the ocean. Only by revealing this footage to the world and exposing what’s happening beneath the surface can people begin to understand the devastating impact it is having and the urgent risk it poses to our ocean.

Talking about the film, Attenborough said, “My lifetime has coincided with the great age of ocean discovery. Over the last hundred years, scientists and explorers have revealed remarkable new species, epic migrations, and dazzling, complex ecosystems beyond anything I could have imagined as a young man. In this film, we share those wonderful discoveries, uncover why our ocean is in such poor health, and, perhaps most importantly, show how it can bounce back to life.”

Tom McDonald, National Geographic’s executive vice president of Global Factual and Unscripted Content, said, “I’m thrilled that audiences worldwide will be able to engage with Sir David’s signature storytelling and the inspirational message of this film through the power of National Geographic’s global platforms. There is no one better to deliver this landmark film than Sir David, and I’m delighted that he’s working with National Geographic for the very first time on a subject that is timely and close to his heart.”

The documentary focuses on the human actions leading to the oceans’ collapse and the effects of destructive fishing techniques, such as dredging and bottom trawling, on entire marine ecosystems, coastal communities, and the global climate.

Alok Jain, President – Entertainment, JioStar added: “At National Geographic India, we believe that storytelling has the power to ignite change. OCEAN WITH DAVID ATTENBOROUGH is a landmark film that reminds us how interconnected we are with our oceans, even here in India, where over 11,000 kilometers of coastline support vibrant marine life and millions of livelihoods. Through David Attenborough’s unmatched narration and breathtaking visuals, we hope to inspire Indians to see our oceans not just as distant waters but as living systems that need our urgent protection. This is not just a global story – it is our story too.”

The film is directed by Toby Nowlan, Keith Scholey and Colin Butfield and produced by Nowlan for Silverback Films. The film is a Silverback Films and Open Planet Studios co-production.

‘Ocean by David Attenborough’ is set to release on June 8 on National Geographic and JioHotstar.
