Thane: A horrifying incident took place at a clinic in Kalyan where a drunk man, identified as Gopal Jha, has brutally assaulted a young receptionist simply because she refused him entry to visit the doctor as the doctor was attending another patient.

The confrontation led to Gopal Jha punching, dragging her by hair, and repeatedly punching her. The whole incident was captured on the clinic’s CCTV Camera. The incident took place on the evening hours of July 21.

Act Caught On Camera:

Kalyan’s reception faced a brutal attack from Gokul Jha, a criminal with a prior record, in a private hospital located in the Nandivali area. The receptionist is currently receiving treatment at Janaki Hospital, where Dr. Moin Sheikh reported significant injuries, including marks on her neck, legs, and chest.

There are concerns that she may face paralysis due to the violent attack, and she is under observation for her injuries. MNS Deputy Mayor Yogesh Gavanhe and Deepak Karande played a crucial role in apprehending Gokul Jha from the Newali area in Ambernath and transporting him to the Manpada police station in Dombivli.

Ranjit Jha, Gokul’s brother, was also arrested. Gokul has a history of robbery and assault cases in Kalyan’s Kolshewadi Ulhasnagar area. Allegations have surfaced that he was involved in collecting payments from local hawkers. Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Zende indicated that further interrogation will be conducted to ensure appropriate punishment for the accused following their court appearance in Kalyan.

Mumbai: On the occasion of Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis ji’s birthday, the state-wide Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Job Fair organized by the Department of Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship witnessed a record 57,000 youth registering, and 27,000 youth securing employment in a single day.

Skill Development Minister Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha stated that the department undertook this unique initiative so that the youth of the state could make the Chief Minister’s birthday unforgettable, marking a new chapter in their careers. He was speaking at the job fair organized at Sharda Mandir High School, Gamdevi, Mumbai.

About The Event

This event was jointly organized by the District Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Centre, Mumbai City, and Sharda Mandir High School. Over 100 such fairs were held across Maharashtra.

Minister Lodha added that the Hon Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis ji has the vision for development and has taken Maharashtra to new heights, has focused special attention on youth employment. Accordingly, this initiative was conducted. Thousands of dreams of the youth are being fulfilled through these job fairs, setting them on the path to a bright future. Minister Lodha expressed confidence that such initiatives would continue under the Chief Minister’s guidance.

Through the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Job Fairs organized across Maharashtra, thousands of youth are getting opportunities to work in private as well as government corporations. Employment opportunities are being provided in sectors like industry, information technology, insurance, logistics, management, and services.

At the job fair held at Sharda Mandir High School, Gamdevi, Mumbai, a total of 25 establishments participated, including five government corporations. About 500 young men and women registered for this particular fair.

While the main objective of these fairs is to facilitate employment, the Skill Development Department is also providing information about government schemes and guidance on self-employment, informed Assistant Commissioner of the Skill Development Department, Shailesh Bhagat. Skill Development Guidance Officers Vidya Shinge and Mukesh Sankhe were also present on the occasion.

Mumbai: Mumbai is set to receive another round of intense rainfall, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for Wednesday, July 23. Heavy rains lashed several areas in South Mumbai, such as Byculla, Lalbaug, CSMT and Churchgate overnight and in the early morning hours today.

Andheri Subway Closed

After being battered by heavy rains overnight, the city reported disruptions for commuters travelling in morning hours today. “Due to 1-1.5 ft water logging, the Andheri Subway is closed for vehicular movement. Traffic is diverted via the Gokhale Bridge & Thackeray Bridge,” said Mumbai Traffic Police in a post.

The local train services on all suburban routes also reported delays by 15-20 minutes, mainly on Central and Harbour lines. More rains are expected today likely causing traffic snarls in the city.

Orange Alert Issued For Tomorrow

Additionally, an orange alert has already been sounded for Thursday, July 24, warning of heavy downpours crossing 150 mm in the next 24 to 36 hours. The advisory urges citizens to remain vigilant and plan their day cautiously, especially those residing in low-lying or flood-prone areas.

Since the early hours of Tuesday, consistent showers have been reported across Mumbai, including the suburbs, Thane district, Kalyan, Dombivli and Navi Mumbai. The rainfall, ranging from light to moderate, marks a strong resurgence of the monsoon just ahead of the Shravan month.

The IMD has predicted that Mumbai city and suburbs, along with districts like Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Thane, will receive moderate to heavy rainfall over the next three hours. The intensity is expected to rise gradually from late Wednesday morning, peaking by afternoon and continuing overnight.

According to reports quoting officials, the orange alert for Thursday implies heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places, especially in parts of Mumbai, Thane and Palghar. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has activated its monsoon control rooms and increased manpower in flood-prone areas. Pumps, dewatering systems, and emergency response teams are on standby.

Recent saturation of the ground from continuous rain means even a few hours of sustained showers could lead to rapid waterlogging. Commuters are being cautioned about vulnerable spots such as Sion, King’s Circle, Hindmata, Kurla, Andheri Subway and the Dahisar and Malad underpasses, which often see knee-deep water during intense spells.

Waterlogging Reported Due To Heavy Rains On July 22

On Monday, July 22, heavy rainfall disrupted normal life in several parts of the city, including Andheri Subway, Powai, Sakinaka and LBS Road in Kurla. CSMT and adjoining western suburbs experienced intermittent heavy rain by evening, while other areas remained comparatively dry during the day.

The weather department has also warned that isolated intense spells today and tomorrow could impact rail and road traffic. Citizens are advised to leave early for work, carry rain protection and avoid unnecessary travel during peak rain hours to ensure safety. With monsoon activity intensifying along the Konkan coast, authorities are on high alert as Mumbai prepares for yet another wet and challenging day ahead.
