India reports 26,727 fresh Covid cases, 277 deaths

India on Friday reported 26,727 fresh Covid-19 cases and 277 deaths in the last 24 hr, according to the lated health bulletin issued by the Union Health Ministry.
With the latest fatalities, the country’s overall death toll now stands at 4,48,339.
Meanwhile, the active cases saw a decline in the last 24 hours with of total 1,796 infections, taking the total active caseload to 2,75,224 which accounts for less than of 1 per cent of total Covid cases of India, as per the Union Health Ministry updates.
The total active cases in India is 0.82 per cent of the total cases which is the lowest in the last 196 days.
India’s recovery rate from the ongoing pandemic currently stands at 97.86 per cent which is highest since March 2020.
According to the health bulletin, the number of daily recoveries have also increased. The recovery of 28,246 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,30,43,144.
The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 15,20,899 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted 57,04,77,338 cumulative tests.
While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, the weekly positivity rate at 1.70 per cent remained less than 3 per cent for the last 98 days now, while the daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.76 per cent.
The daily positivity rate has remained below 3 per cent for last 32 days and below 5 per cent for 115 consecutive days.
With the administration of 64,40,451 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s overall Covid inoculation coverage has reached 89,02,08,007, as per provisional reports as of 7 a.m. on Friday.
This feat was achieved through 86,46,674 sessions.

Sensational shootout in Chembur, search for accused continues, investigation continues to find out who plotted the shootout

Mumbai: A shooting incident on a construction company owner in Chembur Diamond Garden area of Mumbai at 9:50 pm last night created a sensation. Three unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants attacked the builder with a lethal weapon, but Sadru survived the attack and has been admitted to a nearby hospital. The shootout took place when he was passing through Sinha Panvel Highway. Police are investigating who instigated the unidentified assailants to shoot at Sadru and who plotted the shooting. DCP Nunath Dhole said that the search for the assailants is on and a case has been registered after the shootout. Mumbai Police is investigating the case from every angle to find out if Sadru had any personal enmity or malice with anyone. A sketch of the assailants has also been prepared. Mumbai Crime Branch is also conducting a parallel investigation. A police team has been formed to search for the assailants, but no arrests have been made yet. Mumbai Police said that the attackers fled after the firing. Mumbai Police is investigating the CCTV footage as well as the direction in which the shooters fled. Along with searching for the accused, the police has also started gathering information in this regard from informers.

Threat to Kirit Somaiya… Demand for arrest of Yusuf Ansari within 48 hours, ultimatum to take action against loudspeakers and mosques

Mumbai: BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has once again spread venom by demanding the removal of illegal mosque and loudspeakers in Govindi Shivaji Nagar. He has demanded action against illegal mosques within the limits of Govindi Shivaji Nagar and directed the police to take action against the loudspeakers and said that if action is not taken against the illegal mosque and loudspeakers within 48 hours, the BJP will protest.

Mumbai Waqf Act protest proved costly, notice to Asif Shaikh, police accused of harassment and nuisance, demand for action from Police Commissioner

Mumbai: Seeking permission for a protest against the Waqf Act in Mumbai on April 18 proved costly for Asif Shaikh and his family and the police have now started harassing Asif Shaikh and his wife, against which Asif Shaikh has now lodged a complaint with the Police Commissioner and requested to take action against the policemen who entered their house without permission.
Against the harassment and hooliganism of Tilak Nagar Police Station, Asif Shaikh and his wife Jasmine Shaikh have requested the Mumbai Police Commissioner to take strict action against the policemen who have harassed them by pasting a notice not to protest under the Waqf Act at their house in the absence of her husband. Jasmine Shaikh has said that my husband was not at home and in his absence the police not only harassed us at our house, but now the police is also harassing and troubling the people of our neighborhood so that they do not support us.
Asif Sheikh has requested the Mumbai Police Commissioner to take action in this regard, otherwise he will be forced to commit suicide and will commit self-immolation at the Mumbai Police Commissioner Headquarters. Asif Sheikh said in his video message that the local police station has made it clear that they are misbehaving with him on the orders of the Commissioner. He said that apart from harassing my wife, the police officers have also made a video of the women of our house in a nude state, which is illegal, but the police officers are stubborn and say that they have permission to make the video. When DCP Nunath Dhola was talked to in this regard, he said that permission was not given to protest against the Waqf Act and Asif Sheikh and others have been given notice, but the DCP has denied the allegation of harassing other people of the area.
