Uddhav Thackeray backs Rahul Gandhi’s claims on Maha elections, says ‘masks off’ in Saamana

Mumbai, June 10: Shiv Sena (UBT) has targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegation of ‘match-fixing’ in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, stating that a fiery ‘demon has entered the ruling party’.

Thackeray camp claimed that Rahul Gandhi has exposed the corrupt handshake of the BJP and the Election Commission of India. The ‘makeup’ of people like Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was spoiled because of this. Before shaking the dust off the faces of others, they should look at their own faces in the mirror. Now the makeup is completely off.

In a scathing editorial in the party’s mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, the Thackeray camp said that Rahul Gandhi is sitting on the constitutional post of the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. “When Modi-Shah was in power, they did not allow Congress to get the post of Leader of Opposition, but this time the people gave strength to Rahul Gandhi, and he became the Leader of Opposition. Therefore, considering his allegations as mere complaints, the Election Commission should take ‘suo motu’ action, but will Modi-Shah allow it? That is the question.”

“Rahul Gandhi expressed his views on the Maharashtra Assembly elections through democratic means. For this, he wrote articles in many newspapers of the country and gave detailed information about how the Election Commission stole the Maharashtra elections. Maharashtra defeated Modi and company in the Lok Sabha elections. The dream of ‘Ab ki baar char sao par’ was lost because of Maharashtra. Maharashtra’s determination was so strong. After that, the Assembly elections were held within six months. However, in this election, Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena did not get even 50 seats together. How can such a reversal happen in just six months after the Lok Sabha elections? Does anyone understand this? Rahul Gandhi revealed in his article how all this match-fixing took place in the Maharashtra elections with the help of the Election Commission, how all this is harmful to democracy and how the same ‘match-fixing’ pattern will be implemented in the Bihar Assembly elections coming after Maharashtra,” said the editorial.

The Shiv Sena(UBT) said in the editorial that the Modi government did many tricks to control the Maharashtra Assembly elections, including getting whatever panel it wanted in the Election Commission. Rahul Gandhi talked about the scams in the voter list and the increase in voters by 60-70 lakh, and also voting after 5 p.m. He raised this crucial question.

“Rahul Gandhi’s demand is simple. One of his demands is to publish a consolidated digital machine-readable voter list for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections of all states, including Maharashtra, and the other is to make public all the CCTV footage of polling stations in Maharashtra after 5 p.m. Instead of directly answering Rahul Gandhi’s questions, the Election Commission has appointed BJP leaders as lawyers. Since Rahul Gandhi wrote an article, Maharashtra Chief Minister Fadnavis tried to answer Rahul Gandhi by writing an article. It is a serious matter for a political party to advocate for the Election Commission. Again, Fadnavis took the support of Urdu poetry for this. Since the results of the Maharashtra elections were a robbery, Fadnavis, the main beneficiary of this robbery, became possessed and started speaking in Urdu,” said the Thackeray camp.

“You kept making this mistake, there was dust on your face, and you kept wiping your eyes, Fadnavis said about Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi’s arrows have penetrated the hearts of Fadnavis and others. The Election Commission murdered the Constitution. To gain power in Maharashtra, Amit Shah split the two regional parties, Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress, and it was approved without considering the 10th schedule of the Anti-Defection Act. All this is unconstitutional,” claimed the editorial.

“Handing over the original party Shiv Sena to the ‘unknown’ upstart Eknath Shinde with the bow and arrow symbol and in the same way putting the Nationalist Congress Party in the pocket of Ajit Pawar during Sharad Pawar’s lifetime was part of the conspiracy to steal the Assembly elections in Maharashtra. The Election Commission participated in this organised crime. Now, the Election Commission is advising Rahul Gandhi to file a written complaint about his objections. This is a cowardly attempt to clean the mud from its face. The people of the Bharatiya Janata Party are seen cleaning the dirt from the face of the Election Commission. Many complaints and objections have been registered with the Election Commission after the results of the Haryana and Maharashtra Assembly elections. The Election Commission, which is slow to take action on them, is pretending to be lenient about Rahul Gandhi’s allegations, saying, “Rahul should give his allegations in writing. Then we will see,” said the editorial.

New Delhi, June 20: Three thieves were arrested and six stolen mobile phones were recovered along with a dummy pistol and a scooter used in multiple crimes by the Tilak Marg Police in Delhi, an official said on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Arbaz (22) of Sarai Kale Khan, Pankaj Mourya (22) of Jungpura, and Rahul Bagh (26) of Chirag Delhi.

“Six stolen mobile phones, one dummy pistol and a scooter used in the crime were recovered from the accused,” said Delhi Police in a statement.

The official said that the arrested accused had been selling stolen mobile phones on e-commerce platforms using fake Aadhaar cards and forged invoices.

The breakthrough in the case came after a complaint was filed by a Blinkit delivery boy, who reported the theft of his mobile phone, stating that it was stolen while he was delivering an order on Pandara Road.

The accused had tricked him by pretending to make an online payment before fleeing with his mobile phone. An E-FIR (No. 80056549/2025) was registered under Section 303(2) BNS at PS Tilak Marg on June 13, 2025.

A special team led by SI Kamlesh Kumar, along with HC Sanjeet Kumar, Ct. Jhabbar Mal and Ct. Ram Tyagi worked under the supervision of SHO Gurmail Singh and ACP Nageen Kaushik to crack the case.

CCTV footage from the area showed the culprits fleeing on a scooter. Order details from Blinkit and further analysis of internet logs helped police trace one suspect to Sarai Kale Khan. However, he vacated the premises a month ago.

Using technical surveillance and informants, police eventually tracked the trio to a rented house in Chhatarpur.

So far, three E-FIRs from Tilak Marg, Kalkaji, and Vasant Kunj South, and one lost report from Sunlight Colony, have been worked out with these arrests.

The official said that further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the racket and recover additional stolen items.

Mumbaikars want only Mahayuti flag to fly over Mumbai: Maha Minister

Published

Mumbai, June 20: Maharashtra BJP chief and state Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule slammed Shiv Sena(UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, saying that Mumbaikars want only the BJP-Mahayuti flag to fly over Mumbai and in the upcoming BMC elections, they will seal it with their verdict.

In sharp response to Thackeray’s outburst against the BJP and the Mahayuti at a rally on Thursday on the occasion of the party’s anniversary, Bawankule said that his speech was nothing but the “frustration of someone spewing helplessness out of fear of defeat”.

“When public support wanes, the shouting increases. That’s exactly what he did. While claiming “Shiv Sena hasn’t ended”, you’ve not only lost the ‘Sena’ yourself, but by abandoning the two pillars of ‘Shiv’ and ‘Hindutva’, Uddhavji, you’ve bowed at Sonia’s feet. It’s easy to make personal allegations against respected Modiji, Amitbhai, and Devendraji, but when these leaders were touring across the country and state, Uddhavji was delivering online speeches from Matoshree. The people of Maharashtra have seen this,” said Bawankule.

“Those who say ‘Mumbai is ours’ should first explain what they’ve done for the Marathi people in Mumbai. Even when in power at the municipal corporation, did they do anything for the slums, water schemes, education, or healthcare?” the minister asked, referring to Thackeray-led Shiv Sena’s inaction during its over two-decade rule in the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation.

“Mumbaikars know that the Coastal Road, Metro, Cluster Redevelopment, and Slum Rehabilitation schemes happened because of Devendraji’s initiatives. Keep shouting that Mumbai is yours, but if development, safety, and dignity are desired, Mumbaikars want only the BJP-Mahayuti flag to fly over Mumbai,” he claimed.

He took a dig at Thackeray, saying, “Uddhavji, keep spewing venom like this, keep mocking and taunting. Your future life will be spent in this. Public service and welfare require passion in the heart, which you lack. The people of Maharashtra have already realised this. Now, in the upcoming elections, the public will seal it with their verdict.”

Thackeray in his speech on Thursday targeted the BJP and alleged that it was trying to prevent the Marathi Manoos from coming together in Mumbai. He accused the BJP of imposing Hindi in schools for Classes 1 to 5. He also took a swipe at the prime minister, saying the “country needs a prime minister, and Modi was just the BJP’s PM”.

Questioning ‘Op Sindoor’ an insult to terror victims: Ram Kadam slams Uddhav Thackeray

Published

Mumbai, June 20: Maharashtra BJP MLA Ram Kadam on Friday launched a scathing attack on Shiv Sena(UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, calling his remarks about Operation Sindoor and US President Donald Trump, “an insult to the martyrs and armed forces”.

Kadam was reacting to Thackeray’s comments made during Shiv Sena’s 59th Foundation Day celebration.

Uddhav Thackeray had questioned the government’s handling of the terror operation, sarcastically referring to a supposed intervention by Donald Trump and alleging that the terrorists “disappeared into the ground or joined the BJP”. He further mocked the BJP by saying, “Only Dawood is left to be inducted into the party,” accusing them of seeking membership from even jailed criminals.

Speaking to media, Ram Kadam hit back, saying, “Questioning Operation Sindoor is a direct insult to those who have lost their loved ones to terrorism. It’s also an insult to our brave soldiers who risk their lives at the borders every single day to protect this nation.”

Kadam didn’t hold back from making personal jibes at Thackeray, saying, “Uddhav Thackeray is no longer the man he used to be. He’s now a confused Gandhi clone, burdened by political compulsions. His statements suggest he’s not in the right frame of mind — perhaps he needs medical attention.”

Kadam said, “No one takes him seriously anymore — not even his own family. His real brother doesn’t acknowledge him, and his sister-in-law ignores him. With such limited support, such indecent and irresponsible remarks are beneath the stature of any leader.”

He also revisited Thackeray’s long-standing rift with his cousin, Raj Thackeray, stating, “Uddhav called ‘Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’ a finished party, but he’s the one who forced Raj out when Balasaheb was still alive. Now, when he sees his own influence fading, he remembers his brother. It’s desperation, not reconciliation.”

Kadam condemned Uddhav’s continued criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Thackeray had recently remarked, “India needs a Prime Minister — right now we only have a PM of the BJP.”

Responding to this, Kadam said, “These are words of a frustrated man. Even his blood relatives have abandoned him. He’s bitter because he knows he can’t match PM Modi’s achievements. Roads are being built, infrastructure is growing, and India is advancing on every front. His criticism stems from jealousy.”

Kadam concluded by questioning Uddhav’s ideological consistency, stating, “Is this what Balasaheb Thackeray stood for? If Balasaheb were alive today, he would have applauded the leadership of Modi and Shah. But Uddhav, unfortunately, is now seated comfortably in the lap of the Gandhi family, abandoning the very values his father cherished.”
