New Delhi, Sep 13: Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday departed from New Delhi after attending the 18th BRICS Summit hosted by India.

Xi Jinping participated in the two-day BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. He joined leaders of BRICS member countries in a joint tree plantation drive in New Delhi. Xi and leaders of other BRICS member countries visited Bharat Innovates Exposition at Bharat Mandapam.

During his visit to India, Xi also held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where the two leaders emphasised that “differences should not become disputes” and reaffirmed that both countries should take a strategic and long-term perspective of their ties.

“The two leaders welcomed the steady progress in India-China bilateral relations since their last meeting in Tianjin in August 2025. They reaffirmed that both countries should take a strategic and long term perspective of their ties. Differences should not become disputes. Prime Minister highlighted that both sides must be guided by three mutuals- mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interest,” read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) after the meeting.

During the meeting, PM Modi stressed that peace and tranquillity in the border areas remain an essential basis for the continued development of bilateral relations.

“He underlined the need for both sides to observe existing agreements and understandings on border-related issues. The two leaders expressed commitment to a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable resolution of the boundary question proceeding from the political perspective of their overall bilateral relations and the long-term interests of the two peoples,” the MEA statement added.

Both leaders also took note of the progress in people-to-people ties and underscored the need to further promote cultural exchanges, business linkages and greater mobility between the two countries.

“On economic and trade relations, they underlined the need to address each other’s concerns, including structural trade imbalance and supply chain issues, and facilitation of meaningful and predictable market access,” the statement read further.

According to the MEA, the two leaders agreed that both sides must continue to expand common ground on regional and global issues, and in addressing challenges.

“Prime Minister appreciated China’s support for India’s BRICS chairship and its contributions towards the success of the BRICS Summit-2026,” it concluded.

New Delhi, Sep 13: A team of Mansarovar Park police in the national capital has arrested two alleged snatchers and a receiver of stolen property in a gold earring snatching case, with the cops claiming to have solved the case within 24 hours of the incident.

A motorcycle allegedly used in the commission of the crime has also been recovered.

According to the Shahdara district police, a PCR call regarding the snatching was received at Mansarovar Park police station on September 9. The complainant, identified as Guddi Devi, told police that she was travelling on a motorcycle with her nephew when two men riding a bike approached them from behind as they were crossing Durgapuri Flyover.

The pillion rider allegedly snatched a gold earring from her left ear, following which both men fled towards Durgapuri.

During the probe, police examined the complainant, inspected the spot and prepared a site plan. Investigators also analysed CCTV footage from the area and obtained clear images of the alleged accused along with the registration number of the motorcycle used in the crime.

The motorcycle was traced to its registered owner, Meenakshi, who told police that it was being used by her brother Puneet. Police subsequently apprehended Puneet from his residence and recovered the motorcycle at his instance.

During interrogation, Puneet allegedly disclosed his involvement with his associate Vikas alias Puchchi. Vikas was subsequently apprehended from the Nand Nagri bus stand. Both were arrested, and the court granted one-day police custody remand.

Police said further interrogation led to the identification of Arjun as the alleged receiver. According to police, Puneet and Vikas disclosed that they had sold the stolen gold earring to Arjun near Tahirpur Gurudwara for around Rs 8,000.

Arjun was traced and questioned. Police said he admitted purchasing the earring for Rs 8,000 and later selling it for approximately Rs 10,500 to an unidentified person in B-Block, Nand Nagri. As the stolen property was no longer in his possession, Arjun was arrested following due legal procedure.

Police said efforts are underway to identify the subsequent purchaser and recover the stolen gold earring.

The arrested persons have been identified as Puneet, 23, a resident of Nand Nagri; Vikas alias Puchchi, 38, also of Nand Nagri; and Arjun, 36, a resident of Nand Nagri.

According to police, the accused have also been linked to three other cases registered at Police Station Mansarovar Park under relevant provisions of the BNS.

Police said Puneet has one previous criminal involvement, while Vikas alias Puchchi has more than 17 previous criminal involvements in cases related to robbery, snatching, theft and the Arms Act. He is also an active Bad Character (BC) of Police Station Nand Nagri.

New Delhi, Sep 13: Lok Sabha leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra held a breakfast meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in the national capital on Sunday.

Sharing pictures from the meeting on X, the Congress party wrote, “LoP Shri Rahul Gandhi, along with Congress General Secretary Smt. Priyanka Gandhi ji, met H.E. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, for a breakfast meeting in New Delhi.”

Anwar Ibrahim is on an official visit to India to attend the two-day BRICS Summit being held in New Delhi.

During his visit, he attended the BRICS Summit’s session on ‘Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism’ in New Delhi on Saturday. He joined leaders of other BRICS member countries in a tree plantation drive in New Delhi. Anwar Ibrahim attended the gala dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday evening.

Anwar Ibrahim also held bilateral talks with PM Modi, Ethiopian counterpart Abiy Ahmed Ali, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

During the meeting, PM Modi and Anwar Ibrahim expressed their continued commitment to advancing the India-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Anwar Ibrahim conveyed Malaysia’s concurrence to the establishment of the Consulate General of India in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, according to the statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

“Prime Minister Modi warmly welcomed Prime Minister Ibrahim to India and appreciated Malaysia’s participation in the BRICS Summit as a Partner Country. The leaders took stock of the outcomes of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Malaysia in February 2026 and reviewed the progress in bilateral cooperation across a range of areas, including trade and investment, defence and security, semiconductors, infrastructure, digital economy, energy, fintech, education, tourism and people-to-people ties,” the MEA mentioned in a statement.

Both leaders discussed key regional and global issues of mutual interest. PM Modi appreciated Malaysia’s continued support in strengthening India-ASEAN ties.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia on the sidelines of 18th BRICS Summit. Building on Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Malaysia in February 2026, the leaders reviewed the progress in bilateral cooperation across a range of areas, including trade and investment, defence and security, semiconductors, infrastructure, digital economy, energy, fintech, education, tourism and people-to-people ties. The leaders exchanged views on key regional and global issues of mutual interest,” the MEA posted on X.

After concluding his engagements in New Delhi, Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to travel to Kerala to meet India’s Grand Mufti.

“My itinerary in India also includes a visit to Kerala to meet the Grand Mufti of India to exchange views on community development, education, and religious affairs. Following the Diplomatic Mission in India, I will then proceed to Male, Maldives, to undertake an official visit at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. May all matters be facilitated and this visit bring tangible benefits to the people and the nation,” Ibrahim posted on X.
