Petition Filed In HC Terming Aug 24 Maharashtra Bandh Illegal; Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar Appeal Citizens To Participate Vigourously

Mumbai: Advocate Gunaratna Sadavarte has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court (HC) against the Maharashtra Bandh (strike) called by the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. As per reports, the Sadavarte is representing the state government and the HC is hearing the case.

Sadavarte has called the bandh illegal and the government has asked the court to take strict actions against the people participating in the strike.

On the other hand, MVA leaders Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar has appealed the citizens of Maharashtra to participate in the strike overwhelmingly demanding justice for women. “You may belong to any religion but make the bandh successful,” said Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray.

The MVA leaders also said that the bandh is called demanding protection of women amid the rising cases of sexual assault and there is no political agenda. “Many people have started to feel that girls are not safe in schools. All citizens will take part in tomorrow’s bandh, not just MVA,” Thackeray said.

“The bandh will continue till 2 pm. Bus and train services should also be shut during tomorrow’s bandh,” Thackeray appealed.

Following Tuesday’s massive protests against the sexual assault of two minor girls in Badlapur, MVA took an aggressive stand called for a Maharashtra Bandh on Saturday, August 24.

After announcing the strike, state Congress President Nana Patole had said, “The Badlapur incident has maligned the image of Maharashtra. The school where the incident happened is related to RSS and matter is trying to be suppressed to save the school from defaming,” he said.

Stop the action under the guise of school jihad, MLA Abu Asim meets Additional Commissioner Dhananjay Kulkarni and submits memorandum

Mumbai: The government is failing to open new schools, with incidents coming to light where private and trust-run schools that provide education to children in poor and minority areas are facing pressure and FIRs due to hateful propaganda like ‘school jihad’.

In the wake of this serious issue, Mankhurdshivaji Nagar MLA Abu Asim Azmi today met newly appointed Additional Commissioner of Police (Additional CP) Dhananjay Kulkarni along with a delegation of schools facing such action and submitted a memorandum. The memorandum requested that if a police visit to a school is necessary for investigation or investigation, the officers should appear in plain clothes. The delegation urged the authorities to avoid coming out of the school premises with police vans or heavy police force so as not to create an atmosphere of fear and panic among children, parents and teachers. It said that the trustees are ready to personally visit the police station to provide any necessary documents or records required by the police. The attitude of the police towards educational institutions that uphold the right to education for children from poor neighborhoods should be sensitive, cooperative and respectful.

Speaking on the occasion, Abu Asim Azmi stressed that the educational environment should remain safe, impartial and free from fear at all times. He stressed that the future of children from disadvantaged areas should not be sacrificed for any hateful agenda or baseless punitive actions.

Burglary suspect arrested in Mumbai, 6 cases solved

Mumbai: Police has claimed to have arrested a burglar who has committed four burglaries within the limits of MHB police station, along with burglary and theft cases registered against him in Mumbai and its suburbs. Six theft cases have been solved after the arrest of the accused. Mumbai Police DCP Sandeep Ghoge said that the police traced the burglar within the limits of MHBC. The police came to know that he is residing in Kopar Khernar, Navi Mumbai, after which the police arrested the accused Kamaljeet Kaljit Singh, 26, and seized stolen property worth Rs 45 lakh, including gold ornaments and cash, from his possession. The police have also claimed to have seized stolen property worth Rs 45 lakh from him. The accused is a criminal and is also accused of being involved in theft and burglary cases in Dadar, Mahim, Kala Chowki, RCF, Dharavi. In this case, the police have taken action and arrested the burglar and the burglar and started further investigation.

Maharashtra ATS takes strict action against online terrorism, orders issued to take action against those spreading misinformation on social media, effective from August 6

Mumbai: Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has now issued an order to take action against content and materials promoting online terrorism. ATS found during its action against Pakistani don Shahzad Bhatti and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi that along with spreading online terrorism, youth are being misled online. ATS analysis has revealed that attempts are being made to mislead through online and digital and social media media through audio and video. Therefore, if anyone on social media publishes and propagates controversial content, PDF, which is tantamount to a threat to the integrity of the country and harms brotherhood and unity, then action will be taken against him. ATS found during its investigation that misleading propaganda has been done in 114 PDFs, magazines, digital contents, after which ATS has also seized them. If anyone publishes controversial content and materials on social media, then action will also be taken against him. The order has been issued under the GATS Public Safety Act 2023. This order has come into force from August 6. If anyone violates it, action will be taken against him. Maharashtra ATS has appealed to the citizens to stay away from misleading and propaganda videos and other content and materials that promote terrorism on social media, otherwise action may be taken against them. ATS Chief Noel Bajaj has appealed to the citizens to refrain from misuse of social media. Along with this, the ATS had also intensified action against other gangsters including Shahzad Bhatti. Accordingly, the ATS had also questioned those in contact with Shahzad Bhatti and Lawrence Bishnoi. Their social media accounts were checked and later they were released. ATS has now started monitoring social media as well. If anyone tries to promote terrorism on social media, action will be taken against him.
