Mumbai Traffic Alert! Bike Skids On Western Express Highway Near Airport Due to Oil Spill, Heavy Jam Reported
Mumbai: An oil spill on the Western Express Highway near the Mumbai Airport led to traffic disruption on the northbound stretch of the Western Express Highway on Sunday, with motorists reporting heavy congestion towards the airport.
According to a video shared by Instagram account ‘Nosh.navigate’, the oil spill was reported on the Western Express Highway near the airport. The video shows a man and a woman, who had reportedly fallen from their bike after it skidded on the oil-covered road. Both are seen getting up after the fall, though they appear visibly hurt.
The video later shows an ambulance at the same spot, suggesting that the injured persons were attended to and may have been taken for medical assistance.
Mumbai Traffic Police also issued an alert on X, warning commuters about the oil spill. The police said movement was slow on Centaur Bridge, close to Sahar, on the northbound side due to the spill.
The incident was also flagged by commuters stuck in the traffic jam on the Western Express Highway. User ‘Mandar Natekar’ took to twitter to post a video of he north bound side of the bridge that shows vehicles stuck in traffic as far as the eye can meet, stating ‘Northbound traffic on WEH is totally jammed all the way from the airport flyover to Bandra ! Seems there is some issue on the airport flyover that the police are checking. If you are travelling from Bandra towards Andheri on the WEH pls check for alternate routes.’
Another X user, ‘Jijo_Joseph’, claimed that there was a massive traffic jam on the highway and that traffic had not moved for nearly 45 minutes from Khar to Santacruz, in the same direction towards the airport.
The Mumbai Traffic Police has also reponded to this user stating that the issue has been raised to the Bandra division ‘Thanks for bringing this to our Notice. Bandra Traffic Division has been informed about this.’
Commuters travelling along the western express highway are advised to avoid the western express highway until the oil spills has been cleared.
The incident has once again raised concerns over oil spills on major city roads and the need for quicker response measures to prevent accidents, especially on high-speed corridors such as the Western Express Highway.

Mira-Bhayandar Water Cut: MIDC Water Supply To Remain Suspended For 24 Hours On June 4-5 – Details Here

Residents of Mira Bhayandar are set to face a 24-hour water cut as the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has announced that MIDC water supply will remain suspended tomorrow, June 4. According to MBMC, there will be no MIDC water supply from 12 pm on June 4 to 12 pm on June 5.
The MBMC said that temporary water disruption has been scheduled as a precautionary measure in view of the possible impact of El Nino and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) conditions, which could lead to water shortages in the coming months.
Notably, MBMC also added that while water supply from STEM Authority will continue as usual, residents might experience low water pressure and delayed water supply until MIDC services are fully restored.
The MBMC has appealed to residents to cooperate with the civic body and asked them to store only the required amount of water and use it judiciously during the temporary disruption.
Apart from Mira Bhayandar, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has also announced a complete 24-hour water shutdown in several parts of the city from 12 pm on June 4 to 12 pm on June 5. The shutdown will affect areas supplied by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation’s (MIDC) Jambhul water treatment plant. Areas including Diva and Kalwa ward committees, Mumbra (excluding parts of Ward Nos. 26 and 31), Wagle Estate, and Manpada will face a water shutdown.
Meanwhile, in Mumbai, the BMC has already imposed a 10 per cent water cut from May 15 to ensure supply until August 19, but concerns persist over the delayed monsoon. Civic data showed that the water stock in the seven lakes supplying Mumbai dropped to 2.13 lakh million litres (ML), or 15.30 per cent of total capacity.
Civic data as of June 2 showed that the useful water content in Upper Vaitarna has been exhausted, while Modak Sagar stood at 33.89 per cent, Vihar at 45.71 per cent, Tulsi at 27.10 per cent, Middle Vaitarna at 22.21 per cent, Bhatsa at 14.57 per cent and Tansa at 10.58 per cent.

‘This Is State Of Monsoon Preparedness In Mumbai This Year?’ Opposition Attacks BJP-Led BMC After Andheri Subway Shuts Briefly After Light Showers

Mumbai: Opposition in Mumbai has slammed the BJP-led Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and questioned the monsoon preparedness after brief pre-monsoon showers flooded the Andheri Subway, causing temporary traffic disruption during peak commuting hours.
Congress leader Varsha Gaikwad took to social media and questioned the city’s monsoon preparedness and alleged that the BMC’s claims of drain cleaning had failed. She said that even before the monsoon had fully arrived, a few showers were enough to flood the Andheri subway.
Taking to X, she questioned, “The BMC, which claims to have spent crores of rupees, has been exposed in the very first rain. If such a light shower causes this mess, what will happen to Mumbaikars in a downpour? The empty claims of drain cleaning and the administration’s inaction have once again come to light! This is the state of monsoon preparedness in Mumbai this year.”
Congress leader Sachin Sawant also criticised the civic body and questioned the ‘sewer cleaning’ work. He further claimed that if light showers could cause waterlogging, the situation could become worse during heavy monsoon rains.
“What will the state be like when the real rain comes?” he questioned. Additionally, Sawant also warned Mumbaikars who are desperately waiting for the monsoon after the scorching summer heat. “From the summer fire, you’re definitely heading into the BJP-created flood during the rains!” he added.
This comes at a time when the BMC has been undertaking several monsoon preparedness measures, including desilting and cleaning major nullahs, clearing garbage, and carrying out road concretisation works.
Notably, in the BMC Elections 2026, the BJP had emerged as the single largest party, winning 89 of the 227 seats, enabling the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance to control the civic body. Earlier in April, when Mumbai’s Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide took charge as the first woman chief of the BMC, she had assured residents that the city would not face waterlogging problems during this monsoon season.
