Mumbai: Shiv Sena-UBT's Aaditya Thackeray Accepts CM Eknath Shinde's Debate Challenge On Controversial Dharavi Redevelopment Project

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray said he has accepted Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s challenge for a face-to-face debate on the Dharavi redevelopment project.

“The CM should present his development projects, and I will present ours and we should start with the Dharavi project,” he said during a media interaction on Monday.

‘The Project Is Riddled With Loopholes,’ Says Shiv Sena (UBT) Leader Aaditya Thackeray

Thackeray said the project is riddled with loopholes. “To begin with, 75% of Dharavi land belongs to the BMC and the remaining to other agencies like MHADA and BEST. These agencies should get Rs 7000 crore towards premium, which they will not,” said Thackeray, alleging massive corruption designed to favour one firm.

Thackeray also criticised MMRDA for issuing tenders worth Rs 15,000 crore within 20 days.

“The state has an outstanding payment of Rs 40,000 crore, which it owes to contractors, who are now planning to protest. While there is money for friendly contractors, those who do the work are not being paid their dues,” he said.

Thackeray also pointed out that the residents of Government Colony in Bandra East have been on hunger strike for the last four days, demanding ownership of houses and plots, which his party had promised. “However, after the change in government, this project, like many others, has been stalled,” he said.

India-Pakistan cricket match: BJP government should clarify its policy: Uddhav Thackeray

Published

on

Mumbai: Mumbai Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray targeted BJP after the India-Pakistan cricket match and said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) only pretends to be patriotic and this has now become clear. What would have happened if the cricket match was not played with Pakistan? On one hand, after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Pakistan was declared an enemy country and a delegation was sent against it at the international level. Pakistan’s misdeeds were put forward there, but what message will go at the international level if cricket is played with Pakistan. Pakistan carries out terrorist attacks against India and we play matches with it. The stand that the country had made clear against Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack should be maintained, but the BJP wants to sing praises of Amit Shah and Jai Shah. Delegations from across the country say that Pakistan carried out a terrorist attack on India and now a match is being played with it. Is this right? Uddhav Thackeray also raised questions on the foreign policy regarding Pakistan and said that on one hand we call Pakistan a terrorist country and on the other hand we play cricket with it. We narrate the misdeeds of Pakistan during our foreign trips. So what message will go to these countries that on one hand India calls Pakistan a terrorist and on the other hand maintains relations with it. So why would any country support India against Pakistan? Therefore, it is important to decide whether Pakistan is an enemy or a friend. If we end relations with Pakistan, we can convince other countries to do the same. But what message will go when we talk against Pakistan and play cricket with it? That is why I call the Bharatiya Janata Party a fake Janata Party.
