J&K Elections 2024: PM Modi To Address Rally In Doda Today, 1st Prime Minister To Visit District In 50 Years

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Doda in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday to address a public rally for the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in the Union Territory.

The elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled for September 18, September 25, and October 1, with counting set for October 8.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh Visits The Venue & Reviews Preparations

Earlier on Friday, Union Minister Jitendra Singh visited the venue and reviewed preparations for the public meeting on September 14.

Singh noted that this will be the first visit by a Prime Minister to Doda in nearly 50 years.

“There is a lot of excitement among the public as PM Modi has given priority to remote areas…In the past 10 years, a lot of development has taken place in Doda. No Prime Minister has visited Doda in the past 50 years. But after the visit of PM Modi, a message will go that PM Modi has worked a lot, bringing remote areas on par with developed areas,” he said while speaking.

About Assembly Elections In Jammu & Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir will witness elections after a gap of ten years, as the last assembly election was held in 2014. Jammu and Kashmir has 90 Assembly constituencies, including 7 reserved for SCs and 9 reserved for STs.

According to the Election Commission of India, Jammu and Kashmir has 88.06 lakh eligible voters.

In the previous Assembly elections, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won 28 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 25, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) won 15, and the Congress won 12.

The PDP-BJP coalition government fell in June 2018 when the latter withdrew support to the then-Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti.

These upcoming elections will be the first in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370.

Cruel! Minor Boy Tied To Pole, Brutally Beaten With Stick Allegedly For Stealing Money From Ganpati Pandal In UP’s Pratapgarh

Pratapgarh: In a horrific incident, a minor boy was tied to a pole and brutally beaten by four to five locals on suspicion of theft in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh. Their inhumane act was caught on camera and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. It can be seen in the video that the boy is being tied to a pole and brutally thrashed with rod and stick. There are reports that the incident is eight to ten days old and the video is now going viral on social media.

The incident occurred in Pratapgarh’s Chilbila area where the youth was caught by few miscreants and tied to a pole on accusations of stealing money from a Ganesh pandal. The video has gone viral on social media and the video shows that the miscreants are tying the boy to a pole and thrashing him with kicks, punches and sticks. The young boy is seen pleading the attackers to leave him, however, they do not listen to him and continue the assault.

The video also shows that the attackers lift the boy several feet high and smash him to the ground. The boy is seen screaming in pain and also crying, however, the attackers do not stop their cruel act and continue to thrash him. There are reports that the police have registered a case in connection with the matter and has initiated an investigation in connection with the matter.

The police said, “In this regard, a case has been registered at Kotwali Nagar Police Station and further legal proceedings are underway”. The police are investigating the footage and are trying to identify the accused and have assured that they will be arrested soon.

The police also issued a statement and said, “A video has surfaced on social media showing a minor being captured and beaten by some unidentified individuals. Upon investigation, it was found that the video is from the Chilbila area under the Nagar Kotwali police station and is said to be 12 to 13 days old. At that time, the local police had no information regarding the incident. After the video went viral, the police took cognizance of the matter, identified the victim, and based on the complaint, registered a case under relevant sections against five named accused: Shubham, Dheeraj, Anup Umraveshya, Govinda, and Vijay Umraveshya at the Nagar Kotwali police station. All five accused have been arrested and presented before the court. Further legal proceedings are ongoing.”

“Statement: Strict instructions have been given to the Pratapgarh police to prevent such incidents of assault on minors from happening again. If any such incidents come to light, strict action will be taken against the accused.”

Chopper Which Crashed Killing 3 In Pune Was Booked By NCP For Upcoming Polls & Scheduled To Pick Party Chief Sunil Tatkare Next Day

The helicopter that crashed in Pune on Wednesday killing three crew members was hired by the Nationalist Congress Party for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. As per reports, it was intended to carry its state unit president and Lok Sabha MP Sunil Tatkare, who was scheduled to travel to his native village of Sutarwadi in Raigad.

Tatkare confirmed that the helicopter had been booked by the party for the duration of the elections. “The helicopter was booked by the party for the travelling purposes until the completion of the elections. We had gone to Parli a day before to participate in the Jan Sanman Yatra of the party,” he said in a statement to the media.

Both Tatkare and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had travelled from Beed to Mumbai on Tuesday night to meet Union Minister Amit Shah, who was in Mumbai for seat-sharing discussions related to the ruling Mahayuti alliance. 

“Helicopter was stationed in Pune to take me to Sutarwadi,” Tatkare

As per Tatkare, the helicopter was stationed in Pune for a night halt, and was expected to fly to Mumbai to pick him up on Wednesday morning. “We came to Mumbai and the helicopter was in Pune. It was to come here (Mumbai) and take me to Sutarwadi,” he added.

Tatkare was set to attend multiple events in Sutarwadi and planned to return to Mumbai afterward. Due to the tragic incident, he traveled by road instead. 

The helicopter, operated by Heritage Aviation, crashed in the Bavdhan area of Pune while en route to Mumbai. As per reports the aircraft was on its way from Oxford Golf Course resort to Juhu when the accident occurred.

‘Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal To Vacate Official Residence, Move To New Address In 2 Days,’ Say Sources

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal will vacate his current official residence in Delhi’s Civil Lines and shift to a new residence in the New Delhi Assembly constituency area within the next two days, party sources said on Wednesday.

Earlier, the party stated, “Arvind Kejriwal is looking for a property which is dispute free and there is no problem in living there.”

“AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal will soon leave CM residence and search for his new house has been intensified. He is giving preference to living around New Delhi, from where he is an MLA to remain connected with the people. Many MLAs, councillors, party workers and common people are offering them their houses to the AAP Chief,” AAP added in the statement.

Arvind Kejriwal Tenders His Resignation As The CM Of Delhi

Notably, on September 17, Kejriwal tendered his resignation as Chief Minister to Delhi LG VK Saxena, following which Atishi staked claimed to form the new government days after the AAP chief was released on bail from Tihar jail in the excise policy case.

Kejriwal said that he would return to the post only if he gets a renewed mandate and a “certificate of honesty” from the people of Delhi in the assembly polls likely to be held in February 2025.

AAP Leader Atishi Becomes The New Chief Minister Of Delhi

Atishi took oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi on September 22 after she was named successor to the post by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.

In an emotional gesture towards Kejriwal, Atishi placed an empty chair beside her CM chair, saying, “This chair belongs to Arvind Kejriwal. Today I took charge as the CM of Delhi. Today I have the same pain in my heart as Bharat ji had. Just like Bharat ji worked by keeping Lord Shri Ram’s sandals, I will take charge as CM for the next four months.”

She exuded confidence in Kejriwal returning as Delhi CM in the upcoming assembly elections.

At 43, Atishi took charge as the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi, following the footsteps of Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit.
