Mumbai: The two-day “Govandi Women’s Mart” exhibition organized by AAA Foundation (Abu Asim Azmi Foundation) to empower women and promote self-reliance in the Govandi area of the Eastern Suburbs concluded with great success. The event was not just an exhibition but a new dawn of dreams, hard work and self-reliance of the talented women of Govandi.
After this successful initiative, preparations are underway to expand the campaign further. In future, “Govandi Women’s Mart” will be developed as a big brand and platform under the name “Made in Govandi”. It will not only provide a new identity and global market to housewives but also to small entrepreneurs, cottage industries and local products manufactured in factories in the area.
Noted local MLA Abu Asim Azmi was the chief guest of this grand event. He praised the entire program organized by AAA Foundation. Encouraging the women, MLA Abu Asim Azmi said, “The women of Govandi have amazing talent, they just need the right platform. To promote women’s home and handmade products, this two-day exhibition will now be made a regular and permanent event in Govandi, which will provide a strong platform to these small businesses.
The biggest success of the event came from the unwavering support of the local population. The residents of Govandi encouraged their mothers, sisters and daughters in large numbers. It is noteworthy that not only locals but also people from different parts of Mumbai and distant cities came to the mart for shopping. Seeing the overwhelming response from the customers, the public has specifically requested that this event be made permanent.
