New Delhi, Nov 15: The National Medical Council (NMC) has cancelled the registrations of three doctors linked to the car blast attack near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station, barring them from practising until further orders.

The Delhi blast, which occurred on November 10, killed 12 and injured several others, sending shockwaves across the nation.

The council released the directive in light of the FIR filed under UAPA Sections against Dr Muzaffar Ahmad, Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, and Dr Muzamil Shakeel, effective immediately.

While Muzamil, Adeel, and another suspect, Dr Shaheen, are currently in the custody of the J&K Police, Muzaffar is thought to have escaped India around August this year.

They are believed to have connections to the Faridabad terror module.

An order from Rajiv Sharma, the NMC Secretary (incharge), mentioned an FIR filed against Ahmad, Rather, and Shakeel in Srinagar on October 19.

It stated that evidence gathered by investigating agencies indicated their involvement in the Red Fort terror blast case.

“Such association or conduct is prima facie inconsistent with the standards of ethical propriety, integrity and public trust expected of members of the medical profession and attracts the provisions of the Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002,” the order read.

The Jammu & Kashmir Medical Council has exercised its authority to cancel the registrations of the three doctors mentioned above, instructing that their names be promptly removed from the Register of Medical Practitioners that is maintained by the council.

“Consequent upon such removal, the said practitioners shall cease to be entitled to practise medicine or to hold any appointment as medical practitioners till further orders,” the order added.

It also mentioned that in view of the notifications dated November 13, 2025 regarding “cancellation of registration of the above-mentioned doctors issued by the Jammu & Kashmir Medical Council, their names be removed from the Indian Medical Register (IMR) / National Medical Register (NMR) with immediate effect.”

It has been reported, though not yet confirmed, that a similar directive has been issued concerning Dr Shaheen Saeed, who was listed with the Uttar Pradesh Medical Council, and she has also been promptly removed from the IMR/NMR.

Kolkata, Nov 15: Three people were killed in a head-on collision between a motorbike and a pick-up van on a bridge over the Teesta river in Jalpaiguri district of north Bengal, police said on Saturday.

The accident occurred late Friday night in the Balapara area.

According to police, two people died on the spot, while another was thrown into the river due to the impact of the collision.

He had been missing since the accident. His body was recovered from the river on Saturday morning, eight hours after the incident, police said.

Following the incident, police officers arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the matter. It is suspected that this accident may have occurred due to the loss of control by either one of the vehicles.

According to locals, three people were riding on the motorbike when the pick-up van approached from the opposite direction. The head-on collision occurred after one of the vehicles lost control. The three were thrown off the bike. While two landed on the bridge, another fell into the Teesta River.

The police reached the spot after receiving the information. The two were quickly rescued and taken to the Super Specialty Hospital of Jalpaiguri Medical College and Hospital. The doctors there declared both of them dead on arrival.

However, since the incident, another biker has gone missing. On Saturday morning, the body of Bappa Barman, a resident of Sukanta Nagar adjacent to Jalpaiguri city, was recovered from the river under the bridge. Police claimed that the impact was so great that the body fell off the bridge immediately after the accident.

“The accident took place around 11 p.m. Two people died on the spot and one went missing. His body was fished out this morning. It is still unclear whether he died due to the impact or by drowning. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” a senior Jalpaiguri district police officer said.

Kolkata, Nov 15: The deadline for distribution of enumeration forms, which is the first stage of the three-stage special intensive revision (SIR) in West Bengal, has been missed again, with just 22 lakhs of enumeration forms yet to be distributed.

As per figures available from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), West Bengal, a total of around 7.45 crore enumeration forms have been distributed in the state up to 6 p.m. on Friday, which is around 97 per cent of the total of 7,66,37,529 electors in West Bengal as per the electoral roll as on October 27.

The initial deadline for completing the distribution of enumeration forms was November 11, but at that time, around 15 per cent of the electorate could not get them.

Thereafter, November 14 was set as the deadline for completing the distribution process of enumeration forms. Completing the distribution of enumeration forms will also mean the end of the first stage of the three-stage SIR process in West Bengal.

Sources in the CEO’s office said that already, around 60 lakh voters in the state have been identified as “non-traceable”, implying that the booth-level officers (BLOs) could not directly distribute the enumeration forms.

In such cases, notices were pasted on the main doors of the residences of such voters asking them to contact the BLOs concerned within a specified date. Those not contacting the BLOs by the specified dates have been marked as “non-traceable”.

The first stage of the three-stage SIR in West Bengal started on November 4. The entire process is expected to be completed by March next year. The last time the SIR was conducted in West Bengal was in 2002.

Voters whose names or their parents’ names were not in the 2002 voter list will have to submit any of the 11 documents specified by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to retain their names in the electoral rolls.
