PM Modi to attend RSS centenary celebrations on Oct 1 in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as the Chief Guest on October 1 at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi.
According to an official release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the event will begin at 10.30 a.m., during which the Prime Minister will unveil a specially designed commemorative postage stamp and coin to mark the occasion.
“Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will participate in the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as the Chief Guest on 1st October 2025…On this occasion, the Prime Minister will release a specially designed commemorative postage stamp and coin highlighting the RSS’ contributions to the nation and will also address the gathering,” the press release stated.
Founded in 1925 in Nagpur by Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the RSS began as a volunteer-driven organisation committed to nurturing cultural awareness, discipline, and social responsibility among citizens. Over the past 100 years, the RSS has grown into one of India’s most influential socio-cultural organisations.
Describing the ideological vision of the organisation, the press release said, “RSS is a unique people-nurtured movement for national reconstruction. Its rise has been seen as a response to centuries of foreign rule, with its continuing growth attributed to the emotional resonance of its vision of India’s national glory, rooted in Dharma.”
A core focus of the Sangh, the release stated, is the formation of national character. “It seeks to instil devotion to the motherland, discipline, self-restraint, courage, and heroism,” it said, adding that the Sangh’s ultimate goal is “Sarvangeena Unnati (all-round development) of the nation”.
In the past century, RSS and its affiliated organisations have made significant contributions in areas such as education, health, social welfare, and disaster relief. RSS volunteers have played key roles in response efforts during floods, earthquakes, cyclones, and other natural disasters, often serving on the frontlines of relief and rehabilitation.
The centenary event aims not only to celebrate the legacy of the organisation but also to recognise its continued role in shaping India’s cultural narrative and fostering unity across communities.
“The centenary celebrations not only honour the historical achievements of the RSS, but also highlight its enduring contributions to India’s cultural journey and its message of national unity,” the press release concluded.

IND vs WI, 1st Test: Mohammed Siraj Overtakes Mitchell Starc For Major Record In WTC 2025-27

Mohammed Siraj continued his sensational red-ball form by delivering a fiery spell on Day 1 of the first Test against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium, and in the process, broke Mitchell Starc’s record for the most Test wickets in 2025 among World Test Championship (WTC) teams.Siraj’s four-wicket haul on Thursday took his tally to 31 Test wickets this calendar year, overtaking Starc’s 29.
The Hyderabad pacer struck early and hard, removing Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Alick Athanaze, and Brandon King before lunch. He returned later in the session to dismiss Roston Chase, leaving the West Indies struggling at 105/6. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav also chipped in with a wicket each, adding to India’s dominance.
Siraj is also leading the way in the 2025–2027 WTC cycle, now with 27 wickets to his name more than any other bowler. Impressively, he’s the only bowler in this cycle to have taken two four-wicket hauls and two five-wicket hauls, showcasing his consistency and impact.
This remarkable run comes after a successful tour of England earlier this year, where he topped the wicket charts with 23 wickets in the series. Despite being controversially dropped from India’s Asia Cup squad, Siraj has responded in the best way possible by letting the ball do the talking.
Mohammed Siraj emerged as the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah snared three as Team India bowled the West Indies out for 162 on Day 1 in Ahmedabad. West Indies’ innings lasted 44.1 overs as only six of their batters made it to double figures as Justin Greaves top-scored with 32.

Mumbai Accident: Cement Mixer Overturns On WEH Near Poisar Metro, Traffic Eases After Morning Snarls

Mumbai: Commuters on the Western Express Highway (WEH) faced heavy delays on Thursday morning after a cement mixer truck overturned near Poisar Metro Station, leading to traffic congestion in the northbound direction. The incident, which occurred at Samtanagar under the metro station flyover, initially brought vehicular movement to a crawl, forcing motorists to take longer detours avoiding the service lane.
Videos of the accident quickly went viral on social media. The clips showed the massive truck overturned on its side, occupying a stretch of the service road, while vehicles carefully manoeuvred past the obstruction. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the mishap.
Mumbai Traffic Police rushed to the spot soon after the accident to regulate the flow of vehicles and coordinated the clearance of the overturned truck. In an early morning update, officials posted on X, “Traffic Movement Is Slow At Poisar Metro Station Service Road (Samtanagar) North Bound Due To Mixer Overturned.” The update alerted commuters to expect delays while traveling on the stretch.
It took nearly two hours before the situation was normalised. In a follow-up statement, the traffic police confirmed, “Now Traffic Is Clear,” informing motorists that the road had been cleared of the vehicle and movement was restored on the service lane.
Meanwhile, commuters are also being cautioned about additional traffic restrictions expected later in the day in Goregaon, where the Eknath Shinde-led faction is scheduled to hold a rally at the NESCO Exhibition Centre at 6 pm. Temporary curbs will be imposed in the area from 5 pm to 10 pm, affecting routes leading to the venue.
Key restrictions include the closure of entry from Late Mrinaltai Gore Junction to NESCO Gap, prohibition of right turns from Ram Mandir via Mrinaltai Gore Flyover towards NESCO, and curtailed movement on NESCO Service Road from Hub Mall towards Jaycoach Junction.
Diversions have been arranged to ease congestion. Vehicles coming from Ram Mandir have been advised to take the Mrinaltai Gore Flyover onto the Mahananda Dairy WEH southbound service road, leading towards Jaycoach Junction and JVLR. From there, motorists may continue towards Powai or rejoin the Western Express Highway.

Mumbai Metro 3: Inside Visuals Of Grant Road Station Unveiled Ahead Of Grand Inauguration By PM Modi

Mumbai: Mumbai’s transport infrastructure is set for major upgrade as the final leg of Mumbai Metro 3 is set to be inaugurated by PM Modi on October 8. Ahead of the grand inauguration in next week, Mumbai Metro 3 shared inside pictures on Grant Road Metro station. The images revealed the station’s modern design and readiness to serve commuters, offering a glimpse into the transformation awaiting South Mumbai’s transport network.
“Grant Road Metro Station – Your gateway to South Mumbai’s vibrant hubs! From schools, hospitals & markets to iconic Grant Road East & West, this station brings seamless metro connectivity to one of the busiest neighbourhoods of the city. Travel smarter, faster & greener with #MumbaiMetro3,” Mumbai Metro 3 posted on social media, along with the photographs.
The inauguration of the final stretch between Worli and Cuffe Parade will make the entire 33.5-km Colaba–Bandra–SEEPZ Aqua Line operational. This will be Mumbai’s first fully underground metro corridor, promising faster and greener travel while significantly reducing road congestion.
The Aqua Line has been launched in phases. The first segment, between Aarey-JVLR and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), was inaugurated in October 2024, directly linking the western suburbs with the city’s financial hub. The second section, from BKC to Worli’s Acharya Atre Chowk, opened in May 2025. Both stretches have already seen robust ridership, indicating high demand for seamless east–west and north–south connectivity.
Once the Worli–Cuffe Parade section opens, the corridor will connect commuters to six business districts, 30 major office hubs, 12 educational institutes, 11 hospitals, 10 transport nodes, and 25 cultural and religious landmarks. Importantly, it will integrate with suburban rail at Churchgate and CSMT, easing pressure on the overburdened Western and Central lines.
