'If Balasaheb Were Alive, He Would Have Broken His Mouth,' Says Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde While Slamming Arvind Sawant For His 'Imported Maal' Remark

Thane: Condemning Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant for his “imported maal” remark against Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that if Balasaheb Thackeray were alive, he would have broken his mouth. He termed his remarks as “unfortunate” and said that no amount of criticism is enough for him.

CM Shinde said, “It’s very unfortunate. Speaking ill of a woman is highly condemnable, and no amount of criticism is enough. Claiming to follow Balasaheb Thackeray’s ideology, their actions reveal their true nature. If Balasaheb were alive, he would have strongly condemned and would have broken his mouth. Their character is exposed by their actions, MVA earlier defamed our women, and sisters in Guwahati. In the upcoming elections, women will surely teach a lesson to those who disrespect them.”

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde On Arvind Sawant’s Remarks

Earlier on Friday, CM Shinde had slammed Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant, saying that the “sisters of Maharashtra will show him his place and send him back home.”

Shinde said, “If we look at it honestly, it is unfortunate. Whoever has said this, all the sisters of Maharashtra will show him his place and send him back home. If Balasaheb was here and a Shiv Sainik had done this, he would have smashed his face. I will just say that all these sisters will take revenge on those who insulted another sister of theirs and send them back home in the elections.”

This controversy began when Sawant allegedly referred to Shaina as “imported maal,” saying, “Look at her condition. She was in the BJP all her life and now she went to another party. Imported ‘maal’ doesn’t work here; only original ‘maal’ does.”

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Nagpada Police Station against Sawant on a complaint by Shaina NC over his “imported maal” remark.

Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Condemns Sawant’s Remarks

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also condemned Sawant’s “imported maal” remarks against Shaina NC saying that derogatory comments against women have no place in our society.

“Derogatory comments against women have no place in our society, especially in Maharashtra, where we proudly celebrate and honour our Ladki Bahins. We celebrate our inspiring women icons and follow their footsteps in empowering women and over the past two and a half years, we have continued to uplift and recognize their contributions,” Pawar posted on X.

“Such remarks, especially by a senior Shiv Sena UBT leader against Shaina NC ji, are highly condemnable and unacceptable. They go against the very values of respect and dignity that define our progressive Maharashtra,” the Deputy CM added.

After filing a complaint against Sawant over his “imported maal” remark, Shaina NC said that the law will make its course.

“FIR has been registered – regarding outraging the modesty of woman and defamation as he has used derogatory remark. We are here to work actively. If he had to discuss, he should have discussed over work. The law will take its course, I have done what a self-respecting woman should do,” the Shiv Sena leader told .

Shaina NC Slams MVA For Not Respecting Women

While talking to the reporters, Shaina slammed the Maha Vikas Aghadi for not respecting women saying that the women of Maharashtra will give them a befitting reply.

“We all know that ‘MahaVinashAghadi’ don’t respect women… Ma Mumba Devi’s blessing is with me, I am a woman but not ‘maal’. If you are to make derogatory remarks against any woman, then this is the FIR and the law will take its course. Mumbai Police has registered a case under BNS sections – 79 and 356 (2)… When you outrage the modesty of a woman, do you think that the woman will keep quiet? Women of Maharashtra will give them a befitting reply,” she said.

Shiv Sena-UBT Leader Arvind Sawant On The Row

However, after facing backlash for his “imported maal” remark, Arvind Sawant on Friday claimed that he did not mention Shaina’s name.

“I never mentioned her name. I only said that someone who is an outsider will not be able to work here. It’s their habit to create uproar,”.

Sawant further said he has always respected women and accused his opponents of trying to tarnish his reputation.

“They file defamation cases, yet it is they who are defaming me. I condemn their intent. I have been in politics for 55 years, and have always respected women. Those who are supporting her – ask them to answer whatever questions I have asked… Shaina NC is my friend, she has worked for me, and I respect her… They are ‘satta jihadi’ people, as our leader Uddhav Thackeray says,” Sawant added.

The Maharashtra Assembly election is set to take place on November 20, with vote counting for all 288 constituencies scheduled for November 23.

After declaring private non-aided schools in Mumbai and Thane illegal and issuing orders to close them, the supply of electricity and water to the schools should be stopped immediately and cases should be registered and the process of closing these schools should be postponed, this demand was made by Maharashtra Samajwadi Party leader and MLA Abu Asim Azmi today during a meeting with Education Minister Dadbhasha here along with a delegation of teachers and school administration.

Abu Asim Azmi said that there are many schools in Thane and Govandi which are providing English medium education to poor children at a low and reasonable fee of Rs 400 to 500, but now their electricity and water connections are being cut to close these schools. Police is being sent to these schools. Due to the closure of these schools, thousands of children will be deprived of education. First, arrangements should be made for the education of these children and then a decision should be taken in this regard. Abu Asim Azmi handed over a memorandum to the Education Minister and told that 81 corporation schools in Thane district have been declared illegal and notice has been given to close them. Where will the lakhs of poor children here go? He told that the conditions of 5000 square feet of land and FD of Rs 1.5 lakh along with a lease agreement of 30 years should be fulfilled. Fees of Rs 20 to 25 lakh for private schools should also be abolished. He said that similarly, in Govind Shivaji Nagar, many private schools providing education to children at low fees are also being declared illegal and action is being taken. If these schools are closed, teachers will become unemployed and the future of children will also become dark. He said that first of all arrangements should be made for the education of these children and then some steps should be taken to provide education to everyone. Education Minister Dadabhai has assured necessary action on Abu Asim Azmi’s demand and said that a decision will be taken after considering the matter.

Mumbai: Ram Navami procession in Mumbai concluded peacefully. In view of the procession, the police had made special security arrangements. Along with this, the police had also issued a high alert in sensitive areas including Malad Maloni. Till late night, no untoward incident or communal violence was reported in the procession and Ram Navami concluded peacefully. Ram Navami was a challenge for Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Pansalkar, but the Police Commissioner performed his duty well and got it concluded peacefully.

During the Ram Navami procession in Mumbai, miscreants in Maloni created a ruckus by raising mischievous slogans at Gate No. 7 of Anjuman Jama Masjid for 40 minutes, due to which tension spread in the area, but Muslims showed patience and restraint and maintained peace and order. After this mischief outside the mosque, now Muslims have expressed their displeasure and have also complained to the police. Local Muslims and social activists have said that objectionable slogans as well as poisonous slogans were raised against Muslims during the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra in the presence of the police. Not only this, the procession was deliberately stopped outside the mosque and a DJ was played. This DJ was played for one hour 40 minutes, but the police did not remove these miscreants from here.

Muslims maintained order by showing patience and restraint in this matter. Muslims alleged that when the procession was brought to the mosque route, Namaz was going on in the mosque and the miscreants tried to provoke and mislead Muslims and Namazis by stopping the procession in the mosque. However, the police had already held a meeting of the mosque committee and prohibited anyone from coming out of the mosque during the procession, so the Muslims followed it. Local Muslims said that some miscreants want to spoil the atmosphere of the area, that is why such mischief is being done outside the mosques. The police had earlier also explained to the miscreants not to make noise and other things outside religious places and mosques, but deliberately in this procession of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Bajrang, open nuisance was demonstrated outside the mosques. Therefore, now Anjuman Jamia Masjid has decided to complain to the police about this and has also requested the police to register a case against the procession committee in this matter as it has violated the permit and also tried to disturb the peace. Muslims have said that such tactics are being adopted by communal organizations to spoil the communal harmony in Malad Maloni and create division between Hindus and Muslims, while Hindus and Muslims live together in this area.
