Veteran actor Chandrashekhar passes away

Veteran actor Chandrashekhar passed away on Wednesday at the age of 98. He was suffering from age-related ailments.

In a career spanning from the forties to the early 2000s, Chandrashekhar worked in over 250 films and television shows. Best The actor is often recalled for his role of Sumantra in Ramanand Sagar’s popular serial “Ramayan”, and his other notable performances include roles in films like “Surang”, “Cha Cha Cha”, “Kaali Topi Laal Rumaal” and “Basant Bahaar” among others.

Apart from being active as an actor, Chandrashekhar had written, directed and produced two self-starring projects — “Street Singer” and “Cha Cha Cha”. He had also worked as Gulzar’s assistant director in films like “Parichay”, “Koshish”, “Khushboo”, “Achanak”, “Aandhi”, “Mausam”.

Chandrashekhar had also served various film bodies in administrative capacities. He was President of Cine Artistes Association (CINTAA) from 1985 to 1996, and at various points in his career had served as President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), Vice-President of Indian Film Directors Association, and a member of Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA).

Mourning his demise, Arun Govil, who played Ram in “Ramayan”, tweeted in Hindi: “Shri Chandrashekhar ji, who played the character of Mahamantri Sumantra in Ramayana, has passed away today. I pray for his peace and salvation to Ram ji. Sir, you will be missed a lot.”

“@DirectorsIFTDA mourns the demise of Veteran Actor #Chandrashekhar. We pray to the Almighty to bless his noble soul and give courage to his bereaved family to bear the irreplaceable loss,” posted Indian Film and TV Directors’ Association.

“Our dear Chandrashekhar sahab who we have seen in umpteen number of films has passed away, a veteran and a very humble human. Condolences to the family, may the almighty give them strength and patience to bear this irreplaceable loss #chandrashekharsahab #ripchandrashekhar,” tweeted Naved Jafri.

“Veteran actor #Chandrashekhar ji passed away this morning… An accomplished actor, the veteran had produced and directed movies too, besides being an integral part of film industry associations for several years… Om Shanti,” shared trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

The late actor’s last rites will be performed at Pawan Hans Crematorium, Juhu, around 4 pm on Wednesday.

Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon’s ‘Bachchan Pandey’ books Holi release

‘Bachchan Pandey’ starring Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon has a new release date as it is set to arrive in cinemas on the occasion of Holi on March 18 this year.

The film, which is the first big festival release of 2022, has been helmed by writer-director Farhad Samji, who has films like ‘Housefull 3’, ‘Housefull 4’, ‘Singham’ (screenwriter) under his belt.

Akshay took to his Instagram to share a set of the film’s posters as he wrote in the caption, “Action, Comedy, Romance, Drama. L-O-A-D-I-N-G this Holi! #SajidNadiadwala’s #BachchanPandey in cinemas on 18th March, 2022 Directed by @farhadsamji”

The posters have a grungy feel with earthy colours and tones dominating the frame, they show Akshay’s character as a desi gangster. While one poster features Akshay seated on a truck pointing gun at the sky along with a group of people, the other one sees the superstar in a rugged avatar, sporting chains around his neck and a bag loaded with guns and weapons.

In addition, the film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi and Pankaj Tripathi and has been produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Warda Khan Nadiadwala.

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, who was most recently seen in cricket drama ’83’, refuses to be put in a box creatively.

The ‘Bajirao Mastani’ actor likes to be limitless and explore his craft in his constant pursuit for artistic excellence.

Ranveer reveals, “My constant endeavour is such that you cannot put me in a box. You can’t define me. I don’t wish to be defined because I feel defining something by its fundamental nature would be limiting me. As a creative person I would like to believe that I have no limits. That I the possibilities within my craft are limitless, that they be infinite.”

The actor adds that there’s no end to how many characters he could play for the screen, “There is no end to how much I can explore and how many different people I can become. I hope I continue that and if I keep doing the same thing, then I am stagnating. I should probably take a sabbatical, gather more life experiences, put more different characters into my jholi and then come back to work.”

On the work front, he has a string of upcoming releases including YRF’s ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, filmmaker Shankar’s remake of his blockbuster ‘Anniyan’, Rohit Shetty’s ‘Cirkus’ and Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahan’.

Sahher Bambba to be seen in B Praak music video along with Emraan Hashmi

Actress Sahher Bambba, who was last seen in the rom com ‘Dil Bekaraar’, is set to star in a yet-to-be-titled music video along with Emraan Hashmi and performed by B Praak.

The actress has been a fan of B Praak’s tracks so when the opportunity came knocking on her doors, she jumped on it.

Sharing her feelings when she first got to know about the collaboration, she said, “Working with Emraan and B Praak was a dream come true.”

Talking about her love for B Praak’s music, she says, “I’ve been a huge fan of B Praak’s music. I used to listen to his music on loop and when this opportunity came my way to collaborate with Emraan and B Praak, I was on cloud nine. It was such a fun experience working with the two of them.”

The song, which will soon hit the airwaves, has been produced by Raj Jaiswal under the music label DRJ Records, with the lyrics of the song penned by Jaani and B Praak, both of whom have also composed the song with B Praak going behind the mic for the track.
