Terror hideout busted, ammunition recovered in Jammu and Kashmir

A large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered after a terrorist hideout was busted by the security forces in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, officials said.

According to details, the security forces received specific input about the presence of a terrorist hideout in a forested area in Mandi.

A joint team of the Border Security Force, police and army carried out the operation.

The hideout was busted and a large quantum of arms and ammunition was recovered including one AK-47 rifle, three AK-magazines, 82 AK rounds, three Chinese pistols, five pistol magazines, 33 rounds of pistol ammunition, four hand grenades and one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL).

Searches were undergoing in the area.

Youth held for raping 3-yr-old girl in Bihar

A 20-year-old youth has been arrested by the Bihar police for allegedly raping a three-year-old girl in the state’s Jamui district on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Hareram Manjhi, who is a native of Dhamana village near the Aliganj police station in Jamui district. He had come to Khutauna village to attend the marriage of his cousin brother.

Manjhi spotted the victim who was playing outside her house at nearly 9 a.m. He lifted her and took her to a nearby deserted house and raped her. The victim’s screams were not heard by anybody due to the loud music being played at the marriage venue nearby.

After committing the crime, Manjhi tried to flee from the village but the villagers became suspicious and caught him. They found the girl lying in the deserted house, bleeding profusely. Following this, the villagers handed Manjhi over to the police.

Pramod Kumar Mandal, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Jamui district said, “We have registered an FIR under the POCSO Act and arrested the accused. He has been sent to judicial custody.”

“We will soon file a chargesheet in the matter and are committed to bring up the matter in a fast track court for speedy justice,” Mandal said.

ED quizzes Maharashtra Minister Vishwajeet Kadam’s wife

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is questioning Swapnali Bhosale, wife of Maharashtra Minister Vishwajeet Kadam in connection with its probe in a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) case, officials said.

According to senior ED officials, Swapnali joined the financial probe agency investigation on Monday afternoon at its office here.

The ED had summoned Bhosale in the last week of January.

The ED had earlier questioned her mother Gauri Bhosale and brother Amit Bhosale in February this year.

ED sources claimed that her father, a noted businessman of Pune and her family members had sent over Rs 50 crore to London and Dubai to buy some properties there.

Avinash Bhosale was questioned by the ED on November 27 last year for several hours in connection with an old case under the FEMA. The ED had registered a case against Avinash Bhosale under Prevention of Money Laundering (PMLA).

Avinash Bhosale is also facing a probe by the Income Tax Department. Last year, the I-T Department had carried out searches at 23 locations in Mumbai and Pune.

Uttar Pradesh MLA’s supporters assault toll plaza staff

The security personnel and supporters of an Apna Dal MLA allegedly assaulted toll plaza employees on Prayagraj-Pratapgarh border.

The video clip went viral on social media after which district police authorities have stated investigations into the case.

Superintendent of Police (Trans-Ganga) Dhawal Jaiswal told reporters that police have been making investigations into the incident.

He further added that statements of the toll plaza employees have been recorded and police have been verifying the facts as well as the series of incidents. He also claimed that police have also been scanning the CCTV footage regarding the incident.

According to reports, the security staff and supporters of the Apna Dal MLA, R.K. Verma had allegedly assaulted the toll plaza staff at Ramphalnari toll plaza on Pratapgarh-Prayagraj border on Saturday evening when the toll plaza employees asked them to show the pass.

Toll plaza employees claimed that the vehicle of the MLA had an old pass and when they asked about the new pass, the gunners and supporters of the MLA became agitated and started assaulting them. The chaos continued for about half an hour at the toll plaza.

Toll plaza employees claimed that they have submitted an application to the police station concerned while the supporters of the MLA have too complained against the toll plaza employees for misbehaviour and rough attitude.

The MLA, when contacted, refused to comment on the incident and said, “The matter is under investigation and the truth will soon be out in the open.”
