Popularity of Handmade Rajasthani Dresses to be Showcased in US, Canada

The rising popularity of handmade Rajasthani dresses have fetched them a market in the US and Canada and will be showcased there, global fashion leader Peter Nygard said on Tuesday.

“The handmade Rajasthani dresses are in huge demand in America and Canada. The exquisite handmade work done by artisans here is being praised by one and all in North America and hence I am keen to showcase this grandeur of artistry in the markets out there,” said Nygard, Founder, and Chairman, Nygard International, a company known for creating many firsts in the global fashion industry.

He was here in the pink city as part of an agreement signed with the Art and Craft Exclusives, a Jaipur-based garment export house which has a global footprint.

According to the agreement, Nygard International will supply dresses made with Rajasthani artwork by Art and Craft Exclusives in the Canadian market, said Anil Sharma, Director, Art and Craft Exclusives.

Due to a rise in demand for traditional Indian works, the employment opportunities for village artisans have improved, he said.

The visit of the fashion entrepreneur will project Jaipur more prominently on the international map, Sharma said.

Deepika Padukone cancels Paris Fashion Week trip due to coronavirus scare

Actress Deepika Padukone has called off her plans to attend the ongoing Paris Fashion Week owing to the global coronavirus outbreak.

The actress was invited by luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton to attend their show at the Paris Fashion Week, which is due to run till March 3.

The actress had to cancel her trip due to the recent developments about the growing coronavirus epidemic.

“Deepika Padukone was scheduled to travel to France to attend Louis Vuitton’s FW2020 show at the ongoing Paris Fashion Week but has had to cancel her trip with news coming in that the coronavirus epidemic has now entered a new stage in France,” said an official spokesperson for the actress.

The actress will next be seen in “83” as Romi Dev. “83” traces Kapil’s captaincy in leading the Indian cricket team to defeat the West Indies in the World Cup final in 1983. Ranveer Singh will essay Kapil’s role in the film, directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Reliance Entertainment.

She will also be seen in the official Hindi remake of the Rober De Niro-Anne Hathaway starrer Hollywood comedy hit, “The Intern”. It also stars Rishi Kapoor, and is slated to release in 2021.

Flipkart on Thursday said it will bring back Bollywood actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the e-tailer’s latest fashion campaign that will go live on television and digital platforms for a period of over five weeks until December 15.

Flipkart Fashion launched “India Ka Fashion Capital (IKFC)” campaign almost two years ago.

This latest edition of the campaign built around the theme “Don’t Stress, Karo Impress” addresses the stressors that many consumers face around online shopping for their fashion needs.

Flipkart said its large collection of trends, celebrity-inspired styles, an easy 30 days returns and 100 per cent refund policy, along with a host of genuine brands can make the online shopping experience stress-free.

“While the previous three editions established Flipkart as India’s most preferred destination for trendy and affordable fashion, our research indicated that online fashion purchases are still impacted by certain inhibitions,” Vikas Gupta, Vice President and Head of Marketing at Flipkart, said in a statement.

“Through this latest campaign and our proposition of ‘Don’t Stress, Karo Impress’, we are confident that we will help address consumer concerns and encourage them to interact with our platform and make the best fashion choices,” Gupta said.

Bollywood stars glam up India Couture Week Day

Bollywood actors glammed up the FDCI India Couture Week (ICW) 2019 on its fifth day held here on Friday.

While actress Sara Ali Khan made her maiden walk on the ramp turning showstopper for designer duo Falguni and Shane, Rakul Preet Singh strutted for Reynu Tandon.

Sara’s rumoured boyfriend Kartik Aryan and her brother Ibrahim Ali were spotted sitting among the audience and cheering for her.

Actress Warina Hussain who featured in the movie “Loveratri” and Ahana Kumra of “Lipstick Under My Burkha” fame attended Reynu Tandon’s show which was closed by Rakul Preet. Actress Rashmi Desai was also present among the audience.

Sara, last seen in the movie “Simba”, wore an ivory-coloured trailing lehenga with a buckle, and a matching full-sleeve blouse as she sashayed on the ramp. She completed her look with glossy makeup and beachy waves for hair.

“This was the first time I walked the ramp, and I would be a massive liar if I say I wasn’t nervous. I was actually extremely nervous. But I had a lot of fun also,” Sara told IANS.

Rakul Preet, who debuted wearing at the ICW ramp, was wearing a dull pink lehenga choli. The “Dil De De” actress looked flawless in nude makeup and neatly side-parted hair.

She told IANS: “If someone asks me what is really want to wear on my wedding day, I would say a t-shirt and shorts. But because that’s not possible, I would wear something like this but without the can can.”
